Our α and Ω

422

I’m getting beside myself with annoyance at the emergence of blog and online distractions ahead of the most important game of the season.  Darling-Salmond do not get my heart pounding, Henrik Larsson’s summer conversation with Celtic (he was asked if he was interested, he said he’s not ready, nothing more than that), and despite the need to sign players, they would be pointless if we don’t win tonight.

This is our Cup Final, our biggest game of the season by some margin.  This game determines what pace our development project proceeds at, what players we can attract and who we can afford.  For the season ahead, this is our α and Ω.

For the players, it is a joy.  A gift.  This is their chance to perform a task they are more than capable of in front of an appreciative crowd.  For Ronny and Johnny, it is their first stake in the ground.

Don’t assume it will be straightforward. It could be a long night, we may lose the first goal, but it takes a brave team to leave Celtic Park with the spoils on a European night. We have to remain patient early on; Maribor will tire as the game progresses. The final 15 minutes should be Celtic’s most productive.

Enjoy the game.

  1. Taking my daughter to her 1st European game at Paradise tonight.

I have took her to about a dozen games in the past which we have always won… apart from the last European game at Murrayfield, which was also the wife’s 1st game (and last!!)

The wife is not going tonight so it should be a comfortable win.

    3-1 Celtic

  2. I understood non Celtic issues were off the agenda for today. Less than 5 hours to go. Wish I was in Glasgow. When you are there time flies, you are having the craic, enjoying the colour and the booze. When you are moping around your own gaffe with nothing but your butterflies to keep ye Company, time stands still.

  3. whether we go with zaluska or gordon i dont anticipate any problems as i expect us to be camped in their half all night

Anyone notice that last years manager of the year in the SPFL, and the previous SPL manager of the year, have kinda got off to a sticky start to this season, we are well up to date on how the new Celtic manager is doing, funny that eh? Or is it just me?

No surprise that Salmond and Sturgeon refuse FOI requests that might embarrass them ahead of the vote next month. The information will be handed over with a smile afterwards, with a implausible excuse for the delay of course.

Yes..we are bound to be better apart. Look at how trustworthy and decent our Scottish politicans are..not like those Westminster chaps at all. Democracy in action.

Like the symbology today. Are we signing Prince?

Actually, it fits together with a nice line from Gary Imlach on last night’s cycling highlights on itv4. He said,

“…I told you before that we’ll be moving around the schedules during the three weeks of La Vuelta because of football and acts of God. Well, tomorrow we’re on at 10pm as Celtic are playing in the Champions League so that could be either, depending on your denomination.”

Hahaha Gary but be wary. You’ll start ‘ra Bears growling at you.

I guess it’s the cyber equivalent of chewing the cud before the big game comes up. Only in real life you can walk away, get to the bar or sing a song or two to drown them out.
