Dragging the Adidas-sponsored and clearly embarrassed Lionel Messi up the stairs to receive his award looked contrived. What a beautiful post. Yes my sister and I were very close to our mum, although Altzheimers took it’s toll on all concerned. A great point you make about loosing any relative at an early age, the devastation must be felt deeply, but my mum had a fantastic life and we are determined to ensure her funeral will be a celebration of the wonderful life she had, while remembering she has gone now forever but never to be forgotten. I hope this comes over in print the way I am trying to say it. Thank you so much Martin, well appreciated.

Thanks for that lovely sentiment. That was the point I was trying to make. I don’t think I could have coped with losing my mum 30 or 40 years ago as we were always a very close family. Up until 5 years ago she was living a full life and enjoying every minute of it, which is what we will be celebrating. We lost our dad 21 years ago and we were devastated and still think of him every day. Although we are heartbroken at her loss, seeing her lying lifeless with no response except for breathing for the past few months is very hard to take. Again this is difficult to put in to printed words, emotions can not be put in print, but knowing she is at peace now has brought some comfort to us. She will never be out of our thoughts as is our dad. I hope all this makes sense.

Yes and the fact that Icke broke the story is the way to keep the ‘normal’ people off the trail.

I remember he predicted the Isle of Arran would sink back in the late 90’s so credit where credit’s due as you now need goggles, flippers, aqualizardlung and a wet suit to climb Goat Fell.
