OZ ICON’S BOOST FOR ARZANI

CELTIC’S on-loan winger Daniel Arzani has received a welcoming message of support from Australian legend Tim Cahill.

The 20-year-old has yet to play a full game for the Hoops after being carried off in his substitute’s appearance in the 5-0 win over Dundee in October last year.

However, the talented attacker has returned to action and played a half-an-hour for the Aussie Under-23s in their training camp during the week.

Former Everton midfielder Cahill was in the stands to watch Arzani, who played alongside him during the World Cup Finals in Russia last summer.

He said on Instagram: “Good to see you back my man Arzani”

The youngster, whose loan period expires at the end of the season when he is due to return to Manchester City, added: “Good to get another 30 minutes under my belt. Hopefully, back to full fitness in the coming weeks.”

Arzani is part of the Soceroos’ preparations for the AFC U-23 Championship in January, which is the qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Any call-up would mean he will miss yet more games for the Parkhead side.

The touchline flyer has featured for the Hoops reserves in recent weeks, but has yet to be brought into Neil Lennon’s first-team plans.
