Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

  1. Why did the club not challenge the process for Aleksandar Tonev’s case. That mob at the SFA use the Not Proven verdict when it suits (Boydino’s ‘headbutt’) but decide ‘ a balance of probabilities’ approach in our player’s case.

What reason other than they were determined to nail AT can they give. Shocking state of affairs that appears to have gone unchallenged.

A know your not a Hun YA nutter ;) we have been taken for mugs along with the rest of this country for many many years.

  5. Ulysses I understand your point. But you see that sort of kangaroo court approach should be resisted at every opportunity. A presumption of guilt until proven innocent is an incredibly slippery slope.

That does not make me or others a racist, nor does it make us an apologist for racism.

It is weak to simply acquiese to that sort of thinking.

It’s no surprise that celtic act in a weak way. They have plenty of form….

  6. corkcelt,

To say that it will be all forgotten in a couple of weeks surprised me, isn’t that what the huns hoped for in the past?

Anyways, catch you when you’re next over for a pint.HH

  7. Corkcelt @7.21

It looks like Tonev does not want to bring it further, so there is nothing more to be said or done. In a couple of weeks no one on here will give a s**t either.

My first ever disagreement with a Corkcelt opinion. I’ll give a sh1t about this for a good while. And I don’t think I’ll be alone.

  8. I think it’s totally conceivable, and beneficial, that the clubs knew there was going to be an agreement but stayed at arms length from the details. I certainly don’t think they were involved in drafting it. It would have leaked before now.

    Good luck with bet.

Think Liverpool might struggle at high scoring Bournemouth.

Have done the draw, and Worcester draw.

Bad result for Brendan and it’s tatty bye !

  11. Any tips for a good Irish whiskey for Christmas? CRESTED Ten and redbreast would be ideal but a bit pricey !

  12. An tearmann. I don’t think we need evidence for the collusion with the 5 way agreement. There is no way that we wouldn’t have been involved. Que our ongoing silence.

China crisis are an interacting wee band. ‘Twas a nice night.

Joe strummer night on Monday evening is the start of my Christmas holiday period. Woohoo.

There are enough that blame Celtic for everything including the hole in the ozone layer, without our supporters wading in.

    ..

You obviously realise that the Hole in the Ozone Layer is Nowhere Near Parkhead and is Directly above Australia..

Although the Fact that The Moaning Marsupial was born in Australia could be Significant..;-)

  14. Jamesgang, dude, you have rumbled me :).

But to be fair to Tony d (bless) he outed me first. He is the equivalent of the guys who decoded enigma during wwII.

  15. Joe Fillipi. Correct and indeed that means we have some very hard questions to ask ourselves about at celtic really stand for.

    Mind the safe word.

SSB for background. Who was the ‘Celtic fan’ who was giving it all the ‘they’ve punished enough’ pash. Oh and I’m a Celtic fan. ‘And I want them back…..oh and dis I say I was a Celtic fan’

    Aye right.

  17. Starry nooooooooo. Don’t mention the Paisley thing or I will be called a closet St Mirren fan again. That’s one of the funniest things I have ever been accused of . Hilarious.

Anyway my true home is drum chapel. Or lower bearsden as I called it when on the pull (it never seemed to work though).

  18. On the Tonev thing….Ive posted this before, if Logan was our player im 100% sure that most of the posters on here would be singing a different song..along the lines of….” i dont the Logan would have said it if it wasnt true”…,just as i see it….

  19. jamesgang, There are always issues that crop up from time to time. They energise the blog for a few days and then we move on and they are consigned to History. Maybe saying no one will give a s**t, was not exactly the right way to put it but what I meant is it will we no longer be bothered about it or discussing it.

One point that is conveniently forgotten about, is that when allegation was initially made by Logan and before any investigation at all there were quite a few on here who were demanding that Celtic chase Tonev out of the Club. They had him tried found guilty and sentenced from day one. Thankfully Celtic did nothing of the sort.

I also doubt that the club were involved in drafting the agreement, but as sure as eggs are eggs, they were involved in approving it.

No way would the club, or any other SPL club at the time have approved anything that would not be beneficial to them.

    The money.

  21. Jamesgang here I am in The Hague unable to listen to the comedy gold that is SSB……..

    You are so lucky.

but Shirley you aren’t suggesting that SSB have made up callers? They have far too much integrity for that…….

  23. Neganon2,

Is the Joe Strummer night on a tv channel,

or just your own night to mark his anniversary

  24. Starry. the cops used to physically remove us from bearden when we were young teenagers (can’t have the riff raff from the drum in bearsden can we). I r member one time when they tried to lift us for having the temerity for being in bearsden. They asked me where we stayed. I said lower bearsden in my best poshest accent. They apologised and let us go on our way. As soon as the cop car went round the corner the chaps collapsed in laughter.

Still never got me a bird though……….

Nearly nailed BCW On a date though. But his morals are too high for me……..
