Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

To me this five way “agreement” is part of the big cover up, I am new to the site and don’t want to go down the paranoia or is it called obsession now, I prefer to talk about us but realise we cannot ignore things, again chasing whatever team plays there now just plays into the myth, the SFA or whoever know they will get heehaw, why wait till now to chase them ? Why not take it from any other revenue stream they might have been “awarded” TV or home cup ties, anyway Inter Milan in February is what we have to fear/look forward too, me I am looking forward to Nagatomo v Izzy (if they play Nagatomo on the right)

  3. Ghordybhoy cmon dude it’s the way I need to be!!

  6. Good evening CQN. I received an email today from Winning Captains which was unexpected but very welcome, thank you kind sir. While reading back, I find BMCWP posted @ 14:20 regards my health and sending me his best wishes. This site never ceases to amaze me. From births deaths & marriage’s to hootenanny’s the folk on here are second to none. You are special, very special.

Just let you all know my treatment started today, hopefully on the road to recovery by the start of February. If I get the all clear, I will attempt to be in Belfast on the 14th, if there are still flights available! Frantic07.

  7. Sandman I do agree that we need to be careful not to become like the Hun.

But we need to stop trying to appease those who simply hate us.

  11. So poker face Mc Coist is sticking

Ashley is quite willing to let the game carry on because it is a peanut paying sideshow to him and I expect it is amusing him no end considering the publicity he and his company get on the cheap

People like Ashley like a game of poker with cheeky chappies like Mc Coist . But I’m afraid super is a well and truly a busted flush on this one he can’t win where he can’t raise the stakes to call out high rollers like Ashley

Ashley knows a couple more bad hands for super and his legendary status among his fans is toast

Ashley can easily keep them on life support and let the fans drive super out for zilch

Still the Mc Coist exodus gameplay is to help get “real rangers” men in sh** or bust and dump Ashley

To take them back to where they belong they say

Well they got drunk on excess and tax dodging schemes and where they belong is where they are, in the pits where only Ashley can help them

Oh the blessed irony of it all

  12. The raven. Lots of oldies there mate. No jumping. The bands are always a bit mixed. It sort of depends what you like. I think there are still tickets. Go on ticketmaster and check. If you get em let me know.

  13. this 5 way agreement nonsense may just be playing out as planned from day 1, surely there has got to be something in there sevvies won’t like ? they have had a relatively free ride the past 2 1/2 year but as they get closer to the top league they might just be due some sh*t . Tons of it I hope

  14. Frantic07

I have never met you but as a fellow Celtic supporter I offer you my prayers for a speedy recovery and i hope to meet you on Feb 14th KTF

  15. Could it be PL or Celtic’s reward for participating (allegedly) is about to stick it right up sevvie followers ? A sort of we won message .

  16. weeminger

Re the 5 way, that’s why I couldn’t understand why he’d want it published if it’s so damaging to sevco

“but as Logan reacted straight away..and contrary to what SFTB said last night about not remembering things in the heat of the moment…Misheard would have been the imo the first thing that would have been said in defence of Tonev…i havnt heard anyone say this in his defence…therefore .ive no more to say.on this”

I haven’t had a lot of trust in what you have had to say since you recently appeared here to talk referendum stuff and make an occasional post about what Celtic and Celtic fans were doing that annoyed you. So I would ask that you quote me if you are going to speak for me in your posts since you have a tin ear for what I actually said.

Far from saying that you are unlikely to remember what was said in the heat of the moment, I actually said something which was damn near the complete opposite.

I said that Tonev was unlikely to recall exactly what he said when asked to recall it, as he was asked to do so for the first time, some period after the match had ended. For him it was an uncontroversial clash until then; for Tonev it was important enough to report it to the ref immediately so I accept that he will have a clearer more recent recall of what he thought was said. Tonev had forgotten about it and not spoken to the ref or his captain or team mate or been spoken to again about the subject, according to his own testimony.

All that I am saying is easily checked. It happened on CQN not so long ago. I stated it as clearly and unambiguously as I am stating it now. I am not seeing how you could have twisted that into “no one can remember in the heat of the moment” unless you are looking to willfully misrepresent someone.

So, please, if you must reference me, quote my words, not what you think I said.

  18. See Paul McGinley featuring in this weeks Celtic View re-iterating his love of Celtic. I’ve posted here numerous times that McGinley was a huge Tim and some guys kept telling me he was a West Ham fan. I rest my case.
