Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

Plenty around the station. Head a bit further East and get the tram at Shandwick place. Au Bar and The Melville are ideal for that. Watch out for the Polski’s around Haymarket. They will be out in force tonight.

Not sure if they are a friendly lot. Bit of trouble in Warsaw.

Conan Doyle is always busy when the festival is on. A real haunt for tourists. I would head for Mathers across the road.

Exit Haymarket station and cross the road to a pub called Platform 5.

I was in there prior to the Reykjavic game. It was obviously very busy but the service is excellent. I’ll be there tonight at 5pm.

Cheers mate. I’ve sent you a text but having read your post there’s no need to reply.

Yep she’s working in Edinburgh today but as a consequence of a mix up she has no baby sitter for the wee fella. So as I’m travelling through to Edinburgh she’ll be going in the opposite direction!!!

So, anybody need a ticket as I now have a spare????

  7. Starry Plough – if the Board continue to behave in the same manner action will be taken. Most will stop going and most wont renew their season tickets.

and the downward spiral will continue…..

“tout” always a dangerous word. All I’ll say it was difficult to operate in Glasgow at their level without speaking to someone. The Licencee didn’t get his name from running pubs…

Stories From The Battlefield: Hamas Tunnels Used To Target Israel’s Kindergartens

    9:16 AM 07/27/20144

    By Mordechai Ben-Menachem

Multiple media outlets report that Hamas’s offensive tunnel network – now known to have been composed of over forty attack tunnels dug underneath Israel’s border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip – was set to be activated during the Jewish High Holidays (September 24th) as a mass terror attack.

The attack was meant to generate as many as ten thousand casualties, men, women and particularly children and hundreds of captives. Explosives were particularly placed underneath kindergartens to make certain that these “institutions” would be the first struck, even before any thing else.

The IDF recently published the below map showing that tunnels were created in pairs, to empty out on both sides of nearby communities. The known cost of the infrastructure – each tunnel costs upward of some $1 million – clearly shows that Hamas was planning a coordinated mega-attack. It must be understood that use of even one tunnel would inevitably trigger Israeli retaliation against the entire network.

If I had read the above on FollowFollow I would not have been surprised.

Sounds like someone who is looking forward to Celtic being hammered.

Utter disgrace of a Celtic supporter.

Why don’t you just piss off and let the rest of us enjoy the build up?

I saw you guys react to the latest Antifa post during the night.

Antifa was spotted as a “false flag” poster fairly early on in his career. I suspect TSD created him but, whereas TSD does a passable imitation of Kojo/Molly Weir posting, he seems to not be too bothered to keep the tone and spelling of Antifa consistent. I was amazed that he kept up with such an unconvincing false flag but, given the standards being produced on CQN these days, leading to the departure of decent men like JImbo67, it gets harder to spot the obvious imposters from our own genuine eejits.

Anyway, Antifa has joined TSD and Chris Torey in achieving levels of offensiveness that I never thought would be tolerated on here.

    Shame that.

I think the only way to beat those particular trolls, is to tackle them head on.

I notice you are right on the case.

I said last week, that what they were writing, was unmasking them.

Their unwitting rambling displays their purpose.

I’m meeting up with kikinthenakas at 3.30pm,I picked that bar because it’s not so far to walk from the Station,it could end up a bit of a pub crawl,as both of us aren’t that good at walking far,

Quiet bars in Edinburgh are at a premium at this time of year,we’re heading for York Square to catch the tram a few stop offs on the way.

  15. NegAnon2

What action? And how much will the board have to do for this action to be taken?

Most won’t renew and most will stop going so the negativity on here reflects the wider feelings of the Celtic support?

I asked this last week and didn’t get much of an answer.

What I see is a groundswell on here of disaffection with the way the club is being run my question remains is there enough of a feeling for the board to be replaced for that to become a reality, I’m not so sure myself on that front.

    Hail Hail

  16. Tom – now no need for that. I am not looking forward to the game nor the exit that I believe will follow, nor am I looking forward to the consequences.

I have stated that I believe Ronny is a patsy for a Board which has effectively ruined his career with their stunning lack of ambition.

No amount of ostrich like behaviour is going to help.

  17. Starry – what I am saying is that there will be no big revolution. It is incredibly difficult to remove a board unless there is a clear financial threat to the club. What we have here is deliberate mismanagement, Thats not enough to take people to the car park.

What will happen is a long and slow painful decline, with supporters losing heart and simply giving up on the club because those that run it are effectively abusing them.

It will take a few more years but the club is in an awful decline for no good reason.

if your bus leaves at 4 drive to Queen St and get the train. LOL

traffic going into Edinburgh bad for last game but due to Festival traffic has increased substantially. Enjoy your M8 car Park from Livi through to the Gyle (estimated speed 0.001 MPH). If your driver has the knowledge head down to Carluke, Carnwrath, jopining A702 and head for West Linton passing close to Penicuik and come down to Murrayfield via Oxgangs Road (B701) just after you pass over (or under) Edinburgh bypass), onto Oxgangs Road North, Onto Colinton Mains Drive, onto Colinton Road (passing Napier Uni), turning left onto Craiglockhart Avenue, turn Right onto Lanark Road (A70) then left onto Chesser Avenue when you get to it (you should know where you are now – Corn Exchange – old cattle market where supporters buses used to park).

If you get the map of north edinburgh up on google maps and follow using above instructions you’ll get there easily.
