Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

Have hardly been on for the last week as I cant stand this place when it gets negative. Maybe makes me a coward or a fingers in the ears type who doesn’t want to hear the criticism. Hey ho!

I didn’t see the game last week and haven’t been of a mind to watch it on CTV since.

It concerns me that Stokes/Griffiths have either been unselected, played wide or misfiring a bit in this early season. Can’t see Ronny deviating from what he tried last week anymore than he believes necessary so probably Mulgrew in for Ambrose and a wee shuffle up front.

However, I think we can do it. The arrogant, dismissive noises coming out of LW should be enough to fire up these ghuys for the game. Hit them hard and early.

If it doesn’t work and we are out there is always

    1) A chance at the Euro League

    2) We are still Celtic

    3 We not huns

    So reasons to be cheerful.

As Paul aluded to in his leader, we mwy be unseccessful this year in Europe but that does not detract from the intention and direction employed in the appointment of Ronny Diela. This is a long term game

  2. canamalar says that Salmond is a fat Masonic whatever, I agree. Tell me why Gadaffi had so much Masonic memorabilia, when the first videos on the BBC went to air when the Palace was looted, subsequently never seen again.

There is no doubt that Clegg and Cameron when they were gibbering like budgies in tandem in the backyard of Number 10, with it’s Sun worshipping door, and black and white checquered floor, about a common purpose, that they were pretty deep in the mystery schools and playing their part in the Plan.

  8. it’s not about Salmond it’s not about Salmond it’s not about Salmond. I don’t often post and I post even less about politics, on the 18th of September the Scottish population gets to vote whether they go down the independence route or stay within the UK.

I left Scotland over 10 years ago for economic reasons I had an apprenticeship and some college education, could not even get an interview for a labourer. I went to the US where I have been employed ever since in very good positions making ok money, money and jobs that I could only dream about in Scotland.

I wont blame the, what school did you go to for my failings but I know it went a long way into my decision to leave (funny no one in the US asked If I was a Kafflic or not)

I feel very strongly that I would not have had to leave the country and family that I loved if successive tory and labour governments had not hid and then lied about how well Scotland would have done on their own in the 70’s, the newly found oil and gas would have according to the tory commissioned McCrone report made Scotland one of the wealthiest countries in Europe, with one of the highest standard of living in the world. instead I have watched family members and friends die in there 20’s 30’s 40′ and 50’s as we were the sickest in western Europe with shite hospitals and health care rank rotten schools and some of the worst housing in the western hemisphere.

I have a good friend from Norway who tells me of their standard of living how the schools and health care work, public transport that actually works and is profitable.

Norway found the north sea riches the same time Scotland(uk) found it.

Norway has had one of the highest standard of living in the world for over 30 years.

Scotland has stayed the sick country for over 30 years, can anyone tell me why.

I am not a SNP supporter by any means, but the last 30-40 years of tory-labour rule has not helped us in any shape or form, enjoy life under foreign rule as you watch family and friends live a life unlived.

    I see a draw tomorrow.

Even the BBC tells us that ‘Most expected a booking but referee John Beaton opted to send the Hibs player off’. Fancy that, and at 1-1 with Hibs in the ascendancy late in the 2nd half having just missed a coupla chances.

We should start and get used to it (again) I suppose. The ‘if you had it would you give it’ lot will be back, and we will all be paranoid again. On the bright side though, I will never see it because I will never go back and watch it again.

As petec and others have pointed out Independence is in the globalists best interests ergo its therefore by default not in the working or middle class peoples intrests. Further not only that but Salmolnd is licking his lips at the prospect at being able to hold onto political power indefinitely and he will set up concentration camps for Catholics, Non whites and English people. Only White European atheists and protestants will be welcome in Scotland, that plus genetic Scots, is that really the progressive future we all want?

Notice that Baroness Warsi has resigned over the genocide occurring in GAZA and our refusal to criticise it or to call to a return to the 1948 of Israel. Nick Clegg has more moderately called for an arms embargo for Israel and a return to the 1967 borders.

Whereas Salmond being an opportunist has merely called for an arms embargo which whilst a start is not nearly far enough and he did so only after Warsi and Clegg had made their statements. Interestingly on fox zionist news apparently all of europe is just opposed to Israel cause we are all anti-Semitic (Despite fact most Israels are not semitic but are ashkenazi) and americans protesting in favour of Palestine are doing so out of “ignorance”. Yet Krauthamer Said that Hamas are terrorists firing rockets neglecting to mention all the terrorirty stole from them since 1967 or the bombing of women and children by israel which has again provoked the Palestinians to defend themseleves, if any one is ignorant it is Krauthammer who supports the genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel who are contravening the Geneva convention and dares to call Hamas the terrorists and those opposed to such genocide by Israel as ” anti Semitic”.

Yes opposing a mainly Ashkenazi nation really is anti Semitism in his warped view, oh and he kept mentioning the holocaust only relevance of that would of been would be to say how Israel is playing the role of the Nazis in that conflict and how many Jewish leaders oppose the state of Israel for its oppression of the Palestinian people, going to tell me Rabbis are anti semitic too Krauthammer?

  14. Good Morning Martybhoy59 Sorry to say this but I know the interview with Duda and can only state that there is no :St. Pats were better Celtic, or arrogance type – we got past Celtic and thinking about BATE. Of course, I’m very interested in the game and lurking Scottish websites. It’s good laugh how some journalist can twist quotations, add something from them that was not in Polish newspaper. I can assure all – I could not see disrespect and everybody knows that it’s half time, today is second half. As for celebrations after the game in Warsaw, if you were Legia supporter you would know, supporters start their show half an hour before the game, Legia players go to the stands after each game and stay with supporters 10 minutes.

  17. lGood morning folks. Quinn on Talksport has just said that McCoist is bringing a very young team throught the leagues! Worse still Brazil in the background agrees with him. “Yeah”, he says. Haven’t a clue, the pair of them. You expect more from one.

We can’t start the game on Wednesday thinking – we are in the next round” . This is literal tranlation. There is no words about St. Pats being better Celtic.

I’ve listened to TalkSport for years and long ago came to the conclusion that Brazil is a daftie.

Yes, it’s good to listen to him reminiscing about great games at Parkhead in the past and bumming up some of our legends. However, his knowledge and understanding of Celtic, the death of the Huns and the state of Scottish football in general is like the number of Weight Watcher meals in Ally’s freezer…..non existent.

Hope not. One of the reasons he has had continuous injury problems over the last couple of years is the previous manager’s insistence in rushing him back into the first team. Have him on the bench, maybe play him for last 15-20 minutes but don’t start him as he’ll only break down again.

Southampton ready to seal £7million Fraser Forster deal if Celtic crash out of the Champions League… with Scots 4-1 down ahead of second leg against Legia Warsaw

Southampton are poised to complete a £7million deal for keeper Fraser Forster if Celtic crash out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Scottish champions are 4-1 down from the first leg of their third round Champions League qualifying clash with Legia Warsaw.

And with £15million on the line in the return at Murrayfield, coach Ronny Deila admits the consequences of failure could be player sales – with Forster first out the door and Virgil van Dijk, Adam Matthews and Kris Commons also being monitored by Premier League clubs.

‘It’s possible,’ said Deila. ‘If some are leaving then, okay, you need to get some in to replace them. That’s how football clubs work and I have never been to a club which hasn’t lost players. But I will also get some players in.’

    And we all did.

    Macjay, that’s revisionist claptrap.

Let’s take just one simple element of industrial relations, the length of the working week.

I’m of an age where I remember my working week reducing from 40hrs to 34.5hrs a week in the 70’s without any loss of productivity.

It wasn’t through any socialist revolution that this was won, no, this was an agreed change brought about through company/union agreement over a number of years. The EU played a part with their more enlightened views on industrial relations, something influenced by the more progressive German companies.

Thatcher, much like Cameron, have reversed this working man’s benefit to such an extreme that we now routinely see workers working up to 20hrs a week unpaid and others on zero hours contract which leaves them at the mercy of unscrupulous employers.

The boss man is back in charge, just what Thatcher, Cameron and their financial backers wanted.

  33. Celtic’s business model is the least bad option we have right now IMHO.

Buy gems cheaply. Polish (as in shine them, not exclusively Poles!), progress as a team, sell for big profit to crazy EPL and repeat the cycle.

It’s the execution that currently fails us. Too many duds, too swift a turnover and – if we let FF go for an EPL pittance of c£8M – too little profit to reinvest.
