Last night when Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland that Norwich’s second offer for Gary Hooper was “not as high as £6m” and that despite reports, the club had not tabled a fresh contract offer to the player, you would be forgiven for thinking the entire transfer saga was a product of fantasy.
Neil also confirmed Gary’s contract offer from Celtic is due to expire on 1 February, when I understand the player’s current representation deal also expires.
None of this counts where it really matters. Gary continues to perform like a player on top of this game. St Mirren next, then he can start the countdown to Juventus. Put the Italians in their place and he will attract attention from more than a plucky green and gold tribute act.
A corner of Glasgow stood still today to bid farewell to Sean Fallon. Sean’s 19 grandchildren delivered touching bidding prayers while son Sean recounted many of the times and habits which shaped his father’s life. It was a fitting tribute to such a great life, marked by sincere and loving words from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Dundee United fans are being
urged to don Craig Whyte masks
for their Scottish Cup tie against
Rangers next month.
The Glasgow side have made a stance to
boycott the Tannadice game on February
2, but those who choose not to follow
suit could be confronted by a sea of Arabs
in masks of the controversial former
owner playfully taunting them.
A post on the Facebook page of one
DUFC supporters club, the A90 Arab
Society, said: “In tribute to the nemesis
of the now defunct Glasgow Rangers and
a wee p***-take of the non-boycotting
zombies attending Tannadice on February
2, we want 10,000 Arabs wearing a Craig
Whyte mask at the Sevco Scottish Cup
gemme.”
The post has since been taken down, but
news of the planned stunt has spread to
other supporters’ club messaging boards
and forums.
No one from the A90 Arab Society was
available for comment yesterday but fans
insisted it was just “banter”.
Vice-chairman of the Federation of
Dundee United Supporters Clubs Scott
Innes said: “I think it’s just a wee bit of
jovial banter that’s just done as a wee bit
of a wind-up to Rangers fans. I don’t think
it’s intended to cause any problems.
“They are meant to be boycotting anyway
and I think the ones that are coming are
just making mountains out of molehills. I
don’t think there’s any ulterior motive.”
Billy Hoon of 0845 Arabs said: “I think
Rangers are being a bit naive doing this
boycott.
“If they were playing Celtic there would
be no problems because they would want
to go to that. The masks are just a laugh.
I don’t see any harm in it.”

Could we suggest that they have their “blue do” somewhere far away and give Scotland a pleasant weekend.

I left for Dublin this morning, got to about 20 miles from Granada, motorway was closed, the snowploughs hadn’t managed to clear the road, so we got diverted ,added about 30 miles on to the journey, I left early so not a bother.
Gets to the airport at Malaga, into the bag for my boarding pass, no there, left them with the passport and CC at home, and very little cash to get home, drove the last 30 miles with the fuel light on, made it tho.

The perfect location for this proposed cultural bash of Britishness and all things Rankers is St Kilda.
Or possibly St Helena in the middle of the Atlantic.
Or Atlantis itself for that matter!

I see SSB are cutting costs ….they have replaced their Freephone number with an 0141 number, thereby charging the calls to the callers, ……. good indicator that they are strugglig financially …..you reap what you sew……
