Rangers improper player registration evidence mounts

1152

More evidence emerged today on how Rangers recompensed players through their Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) scheme in The Sun newspaper, who have a draft contract Rangers offered an unnamed player.  The contract was a letter confirming a six figure payment as well as a £1200 per game appearance bonus.

An accountant told Sun reporters Paul Thornton and Ewing Grahame:

“I have been shown a contract of employment showing how much money players were going to get but also a back letter which I presume that individual has assumed is part of his salary. It seems like a contract.

“If the two documents are handed to someone together, is that seen as being his overall package? If the answer to that is yes then there is a problem because the money that goes into the trust really should be getting taxed because it is his salary.

“The fact it is there as a back letter at all suggests it is dodgy.”

Attention is obviously drawn to the potential criminal consequences of these tax arrangements but football fans throughout the country will be alarmed that Campbell Ogilvie, the man who was general secretary and director of Rangers when the EBT scheme started, is currently president of the SFA and would have been involved in scoping out the secret remit of the SFA inquiry into Rangers, which was asked to report within an incredibly quick two week period.  Ogilvie is also one of the few men the inquiry will report to.

If the allegations in today’s Sun are accurate, Rangers have improperly registered football players for a period of around a decade.  The penalty for playing an improperly registered footballer in any game is a 3-0 forfeit.

When the SFA president is in a position to confirm all of this, the association have all information they require to make a ruling on this, but despite these allegations being widely reported for many months, they have yet to even acknowledge there is anything to investigate.

Can you imagine the scrutiny the Football Association in England’s board and chief executive would be exposed to if this scandal was not being actioned?

In the buid up to the 1995 Cup Final between us and Airdrie, John Martin, sporting a moustache, was interviewed on TV by Sally McNair or the other female presenter of the time(whose name escapes me). She asked him “What’s with the tache John?”. His reply “What’s with the Sash?” Cue for much mirth from him but not from her.

He was a totally unreconstructed Rangers supporter and a scab to boot.

Although I had a good record I made a lot of mistakes as a coach. To be honest If I could do it all over I would give my subs more game time. I always regret that I didn’t. Benching you was obviously a mistake. Can you let me know your initials and I’ll see if I can remember you. I won’t put your name on the blog though.

  8. The word SCANDAL has yet to be used with regard to the EBT scheme and the improper registration of players.

Scandal is what it is. Scandal. Scandal. Scandal.

Keep repeating it. We are dealing with a SCANDAL.

There could well have been (and I use my words advisedly, not wanting to cause problems for anyone connected to CQN) CORRUPTION. Scandalous corruption.

We all knew Scottish Football was run for the benefit of Rangers. Now it appears that we are going to see the proof. Rangers men in key positions with both their own club and their country (I use the term country with regard to the football authorities, not the nation as a whole – although they certainly had influence in high places) to cheat every other club within the Scottish game and indeed those they were drawn against in Europe.

If this happened in Italy we’d have the press sneering and racially stereotyping shady Italians lining their own nests. But this is Scotland so it was all very ‘dignified’.

    Scandalous. Absolutely scandalous.

They must be hounded in to oblivion.

No I was a Primary teacher. I taught in St. Bridget’s and then St. Francis of Assisi. Chorlotte retired just before I started teaching. When I started at St. Pat’s, Coatbridge as a first year pupil I heard all about Chorlotte from the Bailieston boys. I felt as if I knew her personally from about 12 years old and I think I only met her once or twice.

McCoist said before today’s win at Inverness Caley Thistle.

“Morally, I should not and will not be judge and jury over anyone’s future. Having said that, I will help the administrators 100% in any way I can.

“Every conversation I have had with Paul Clark and Simon Shipley of Duff and Phelps has been positive.

“They seem to be knowledgeable and respectful of the size and sensitivity of the job. Hopefully we will sit down in the next day or two and things will become clearer.”

Forget morals, when the players and the management are still being paid and the creditors still haven’t received a penny then morally, your club and the administrators stink.

McCoist should, like every other manager of a company in administration have been the first out the door, not this week, not last week, the day after the Duff & Phelps came in to MANAGE the club. I am sure all the creditors will be so happy that although no money or payment arrangements have been offered the administrators are very positive. Was there any NI or PAYE due for the salaries paid last week and was it paid? This has gone on long enough, lets get it finished and move onto the criminal charges stage!

    —————————————–

Agreed apart from one small thing – this has not gone on nearly long enough!! I want this administration malarkey spun out for months to come. I want every bit of their squalid laundry laundered (yes, I said laundered, not that i mean anything by that, ahem) in public. I want them and their followfollowers to suffer this for as long as possible. And then I want their club gone. Kaput. And then I want the Phoenix made an example of by Hector and made to pay every penny of the tax bill over many years to come.

    Long Live Administration!

Showing your true colours now you imbecile. Classic indication of someone frustrated that his lack of intelligence limits his ability to articulate. So insular, so deficient in character and ability that he reverts to type and instinctively strikes out in the same manner those who had the misfortune to rear him taught him so well. You probably didn’t even recognise that your no doubt long repressed but deeply held views contradict what you are attempting to say.

The huns have always harboured disproportionate esteem for the modest throw-in. There seems to be no rational explanation known to even the most learned of men. They use the mundane shy has a rallying cry; a sort of jihadi springboard for the more toxic dittys in their traditional songbook.

This must be the motive for turnip nuts touchline tantrum. We see an inocuous shy whereas he perceived an opportunity to facillitate inter- tribal warfare.
