There are not words powerful enough to describe today’s news. The English language is insufficient and I have no Greek or Latin. Rangers Football Club have today asked the Court of Session to appoint an administrator, unable to service their creditors. The freight train of their tax tribunal has yet to hit, these events relate exclusively to how the club has operated in other areas.
Scottish Premier League rules state that clubs are deducted 10 points on going into administration, which will give Celtic a 14 point lead at the top of the table once in effect.
This is a day we have predicted will come for over three years. It has been inevitable for that long. Now the really interesting events will happen.
We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

In years to come, nothing – and I mean NOTHING – will better cast light on this day than the fact even with the wolf howling at the front door that they wanted to dominate the news cycle promoting a signing.
Even today, with the club on its knees, they were STILL spending money they did not have.
That, for me, is the epitaph they deserve.

Scottish football giants Glasgow Rangers are on the verge of entering administration within the next 10 days, sparking the threat of a 10-point penalty.
The club – which is currently contesting a £49m tax bill with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) – filed a notice of intention to go into administration, the Court of Session in Edinburgh has confirmed.
A spokesperson told Insolvency News: “I can confirm that a notice was lodged today.
“The intention to appoint administrators was lodged on behalf of the directors at lunchtime.”
When a notice is filed a moratorium is created over the company stopping any third party from taking legal action against it.
The notice gives the company 10 business days to appoint administrators, after which another notice may be filed and served.
Last week, former Rangers chairman Alastair Johnston called on the Insolvency Service to investigate the takeover of the club by incumbent chief Craig Whyte.
Johnston has publicly spoken about the use of forward season ticket revenue to fund the current developments at the club.
It comes amid a rocky period for the club as, in January, Rangers were also forced to suspend the company’s shares from trading on the Plus Stock Exchange while it finalised its financial audit.

It’s better than that mate. The first priority for an administrator will be to make the first cuts as affordable as possible. Which means Davis and McGregor won’t be paid off. (Remember, you can’t sell them outside the window!) That would cost too much.
