Rangers on SFA warpath since Fit and Proper enquiry

1203

Rangers manager, Ally McCoist, appears intent on testing the SFA following his outburst yesterday.  According to McCoist the Association “effectively called” Sone Aluko “a cheat and a liar”.  Chairmen of the disciplinary tribunal, former referee Jim McCluskey, had his judgement called into question by McCoist, who said, “The meeting was chaired by a former referee and I have to say his decision making hasn’t improved any since he stopped refereeing.”

This is a new tone from the Rangers manager, who never spoke in these terms about the SFA before they decided to investigate Rangers owner Craig Whyte’s suitability as a fit and proper person to be involved in the game.  Despite yesterday’s punishment, Rangers remain Scotland’s most influential club by the length of the Queen’s highway.  Sabre rattling from Ibrox cannot be dismissed by the Association, who, I am led to believe, will find their investigation into Whyte thwarted.

McCoist escaped SFA punishment for his inflammatory comments to Neil Lennon at Celtic Park in March. It remains to be seen if this new outburst establishes a new method of inappropriate behaviour without consequence. Shauny Aluko will surely not thank his manager for the “cheat and a liar” association. Words like those tend to follow a player.

Rangers have been congratulated on the huge numbers of supporters who took part in the Movember campaign by donning moustaches.

Next year the males will take part too!

  6. Good news to hear Kelvin Wilson and Rogne are fit again and bad news that Matthews is doubtful. Cha is a player that has really impressed in recent games and let’s hope we chalk up another three points on Saturday and keep the winning habit going.

  10. The refs should also be hammered for crazy decisions which favour Dignity, Conroy is a good bloke caught up in the web of deceit and the pressure Dignity exert on the game. The disciplinary process needs to make it clear that favouring Dignity will not be tolerated … Over to Regan to slaughter Swally for his outburst

You didn’t give your reasons? Let’s try and debate it.

Another poster has already mentioned seeing a very similar email doing the rounds centred on Essex. So maybe it isn’t laughing at Glaswegians exclusively then? Maybe it’s a type of Glaswegian, which is also recognisable in every part of the UK, in every other regional identity?

You also disagreed with it not laughing at folk less fortunate than ourselves. On the odd occasion I watch the Jeremy Kyle Show, another feature of the participants is how frequently you see two or more generations of the same family up on the stage for their dose of ritual ridicule, their turn to be pelted with rotten fruit. So I ask myself, why? They’ve had access to the welfare state for decades, a decent basic level of education and medical care, there’ll have been familes in the same situation and locale who have moved on and prospered. So why do some people settle for a crappy wee carrot, and shy away from a modest little stick whenever it appears, despite evidence to the contrary – that it’ll be to their benefit – amongst their neighbours and friends?

Some areas of the country are blighted, unemployment blackspots barely touched by the ‘good times’. But then here I am sat in the biggest city in Europe surrounded by Jeremy Kyle folk, and just about every immigrant has a job. Or maybe two.

At some point the ‘greater’ working class (the broad centre-left) have to recognise that if we continue to show respect and offer shelter to folk who clearly don’t fully respect themselves and don’t see providing shelter for themselves as a preferable option to the non-premium version of the leisure society, then their numbers will continue to creep up.

Off to the Anderson Shelter til later.

  23. spikeysauldman,

just read your post, glad to have someone to debate with, one of the reasons I love this site.

I saw IDS comments recently, and felt they were unfortunate and crass if predictable.

When our politicians are in opposition for years you sometimes see them at their best, on a philosophical ‘journey’, if you like. IDS maybe took a few steps with his welfare work, but once they got elected he has to play to the tory infantry and shore up the shire votes. Hey ho.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am immensely proud of the returning soldiers and the rest of the 1945 electorate who voted for the creation of the welfare state.

Whilst it is an ongoing source of labour/working class pride and a force for good, there is clearly a sector of its’ core clientele who only see the available carrot and shy away from the concomitant, optional, voluntary stick that the social cohesion of 1945 would virtually guarantee would be in attendance.

In the intervening decades the social stigma that would accompany any wilfully idle member of the working class has steadily dissolved as our society has become more atomised. What seemed so unthinkable to the legislators of ’45 – that folk would see a life on benefits as a viable option – that they didn’t build brakes on its’ development into their grand plan has now become commonplace, a fact of post-nuclear family life. To the point where the most popular daytime TV entertainment show is essentially a social work open mic session for this section of society.

It’s a crying shame really, the state of some of those folk. But I ain’t gonna cry, so I’m gonna laugh.

    Hail, hail

  28. The BBC Scotland News is just plain ugly.

Just heard….”Neil Lennon hits back at “…………well, at you know who….

Heard our manager talking earlier, supremely composed, relaxed, thoughtful, and a million miles away from ” hitting back”.

He did mention, quite calmly, after being asked a question, that Celtic have had many, many problems with decisions against the team….

If they keep this up they’ll make yon fat redfaced very old young manager explode.
