Rangers relax BBC ban when cash is at stake

953

Rangers today relaxed their ban on the BBC, issued after a documentary with contributions from two former Rangers directors was screened last month.  The BBC booked a paying gig at Ibrox for this afternoon’s game against Dundee United, if Rangers stuck to their principles they would have missed a media payment from the SPL.

Tune in to BBC Scotland this afternoon and listen to the sound of licence payers’ money strut its stuff from Ibrox.

Not sure of your flight arrival times but there are travel options.

Train to Birmingham (stops at airport) just over an hour and Flybe to Glasgow.

Luton to Glasgow Easyjet (into London and 30 mins back to Luton).

Ask the London CSC if anyone is coming up early and cadge a lift

East Coast Trains via Edinburgh as well as west coast (no time difference).

or for the price of a BA Heathrow flight I’d come and pick you up!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) no extra charge.

You can also try a ‘double flight’ using stansted. E.g. Stansted to Hahn (Germany) Hahn to Prestwick (Ryanair). Loads of these options on budget airlines.

I read yesterday (but can’t find where – I think on the RTC blog) that HMRC will collect the ring fenced cash but a certain amount of time has to elapse. Someone on here will know how long. It’s weeks though. The same poster said that the amount was accruing interest at 6.something percent.

Damn you – it’s driving me crazy trying to remember where I saw it!! Might even have been on here.

all from the rop of my head, all ex rangers or Rangers fans.

I can only think of Murdo who is a former Celtic player who is a regular on the show (though Willie McStay gets an outing every second Thursday at the minute, he is packed safely away before the weekend.) One day I will take the time to examine the entire cast of the BBC sports shows – I dont think a huge surprise lies in store.

So all these former Rangers players are actively engaged in an anti Rangers agenda. Every day is a school day.

Wonder what colour the sky is in their world.

No wonder m8 I hate the corrupt SFA who always go out their way to help them scumbags.

I hate the media in this country and I’ll give u 3 little instances from last year.

    1. Rangers clear foul against Inverness in front of Terry butcher he goes nuts no freekick and what happens huns score butcher goes nuts no mention in the paper next day.

    2. Mark Wilson against utd didn’t get a red card and we win guess what next day in the paper it’s splashed all over the papers we got favourable decision but why mention this and not rangers dodgy decision.

    3. Gary hooper says refs go out their way to give decisions against us and what does Hugh keevins say he should no better but wait a min Kyle bailey came out with a statement similar and hughie says he’s only a young boy he doesn’t know any better.

Sorry to go off in a rant lads but the way Celtic and Catholics get treated in this country is a total joke and now if Mr Brown or any other chairman or anyone from the media think because the scum have cheated for years and bought titles with money they didn’t have then they can go and kiss my ass lol rant over cmon the hoops they are all praying we slip up so go out and show them what it means to play for the mighty.

And remember my fellow fans we are all Neil Lennon.

Good Morning to the Celtic Family from a Sunny but nippy Central Scotland. I am no expert on the subject of tax and must admit that I cant understand why if they are going to go into Administration why they dont do it now they could lose 10 points and assuming we win today still be 2 points ahead of us in the league all though we would have a game in hand.

  9. I see outgoing Saint Johnstone chairman Geoff Brown is the first to jump in with a “Save our Gers” plea in the Hunday Mail this morning.

“Disaster for Scottish football”; “none should wish them ill” etc etc.

Epitomises the kind of man that governs Scottish football IMHO.

    Re the st jonstone comment

20m chicken feed ,then why does CW not just pay the 49m bill if it goes against him (two hand fulls of chicken feed ).

Why are they even talking about Admin .

IMO CW is the middleman to ensure HMRC don’t get a penny (time will tell)the new owners are waiting in the wings (whoever they may be ).

I base my theory on the premise that if CW was buying a football club in any league with the intention of paying HMRC in the same situation then surely he had to pencil in…….

1.18m for debt owed by the club

    2. 1 pound for the said club

    3. 49m in possible back tax .

total cost for club 67m and 1pound .

Were ragers worth this ,a club that DM could not get rid of for over 5yrs .

I would expect any businessman taking on the HMRC risk as a punt to be living in a cardboard box at the back of union st not a castle .

Then again if the 49m part was never a risk at all ,now that’s a different kettle of fish

    hail hail

Those who claim the BBC are biased against Rangers really do live in a parrallel universe.

I think decades of fawning pro-Hun propaganda has addled their brains and as soon as someone says anything remotely critical of them (even if it is factually accurate and not even particularly new), they are branded biased.

It really is worth thinking what the press/BBC reaction to Fergus McCann’s Celtic would have been if..

    1. They were facing a ruinous tax bill

    2. They had millions arrested by HMRC

    3. They had had further hundreds of thousands arrested by 2 former directors, who were also involved in wrongful dismissal suits against them.

    4. They had been successfully sued by their own lawyers

    5. McCann himself had been barred as a director of a business for years.

  18. jFH

It’s hard to believe you do not understand the one simple fact that has been repeated ad nauseam on here.

Going into administration does NOT mean, taking a 10 point hit and carrying on as before.

If you are in administration, you are committed to clearing your debts as far as you can. They do not go away. As well as taking a 10 point hit, you will have to sell top players to continue trading and you will have to reduce your wage bill to, for example, St. Johnstone levels to speed up that process of coming out of administration. If you fail to meet that imposed deadline for coming out of administration, further points penalties can be considered. It is also possible to go into administration, only for you to realise that you cannot trade back out of it, and liquidisation has to be considered.

Well today at Motherwell what ever the team we put out we must treat this game like a must win cup-tie we must chace and harry when they have the ball and not allow them a minutes peace.Motherwell will put the boot in no doubt about that but we must stand up to them and not be intimidated I would love a big victory as I would like to rub there noses in it and show there cocky wee ex Rangers manager who is boss. However if its 0-1 to Celtic that will do me come on you Bhoys in green this is the start of the fightback.H.H.

  23. I’m off to Motherwell now.

We need to keep the momentum of Thursday going. We will need to do so without some of our hardier specimens like Joe Ledley.

We need to keep this positivity going. We have a seies of “must-win” games all the way to end of December.

Let’s hope this group can thrive on cold weather Scottish football.

btw the Spanish are mental it`s either midday or midnight

  25. I hope this is the day we see Neil Lennon’s Celtic finally adopt a more expansive midfield, in a ‘mundane’ SPL away fixture.

I’d like to see Anthony Stokes start on his own as the main striker, following on Thursday’s improvement.

Rennes were a footballing side, and the Celtic side will face a different challenge at Fir Park where there is even more reason to

feel that 4-5-1 is the only formula where Celtic can succeed, with the frailty in the back four, and insistence on zonal marking.

If NL prefers 4-4-2, hold on to your hat, anything can happen.

  26. SwanseaBhoy –

The money in the Huns bank account is ringfenced for 14 weeks, then it is passed on to HMRC by authority of the court.

The sanction was served on 1st September, so by my reckoning, it gets paid on or around 14th December.

  27. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Setting free the Bears 11.01 Thanks for your clarification on Administration but many on CQN state its going to happen sooner rather than later so my point is still what are they waiting for ? they are unlikely to be in a better position points wise than they are at the moment.H.H.
