  1. Couple of pointers for the future.

When RC gets used to the pace of playing against good footballers he will kick on big time.

Too much of the game for him was played at SPL pace and he suffered.

However when he got up to speed he did well.

LM — 30 minutes of looking not bad and then it was downhill all the way.

Played some good stuff but when the going got tough he struggled.

Big step up from a SC wonderkid to a EuL jersey filler.

Looked like the ask was too much in the second half.

Needs more work on his physique and then some work on his confidence.

Showed enough promise to make it worth the effort.

  2. One further comment — the RBL pitch was terrible.

Looked as if it had just been laid — cut up terrible.

Doesn’t matter if you are playing with desire and confidence.

Game changer if you are just waiting for the fear to arrive.

It may be surprising but we can still qualify from our Europa league group but we must win our two home games and take something from our last away game. Will it be easy ? no it will not. This Celtic team are lacking in confidence in Europe and I dont believe even Brendan knows why our injuries certainly dont help.On the home front we need to continue our improved form and no better place to keep it going than Murrayfield .It is hard for the Celtic support to watch our poor European form but im sure Brendan and the players feel as bad as we do.So come on Bhoys and break Hearts on Sunday. H.H.

  4. Just my opinion of course.. but something doesn’t sit well with me in all of this.

From the comfort of our homes, workplace, laptops and mobile phones, there are stacks of fans adopting the “Europa doesn’t matter anyway, lets focus on Sunday”… That may very well be a credible stand point.

But you have to ask, what about the thousands that paid good money and travelled to Germany. They deserve so much better. So much.

  5. So for me, whether it’s the other 96% of fans that didn’t travel, that sit on forums like this treating the Europa with contempt. Whether it’s our Manager dare I say that also treats the Europa with contempt.

The bottom line is, you don’t cheat or sell short those that have made huge sacrifice’s to travel and support the club. And that fundamentally is what I am seeing. However many thousand were present in Germany last night, were in my opinion short changed.

  6. January will be huge for us. We need, minimum, Right Back, Striker (maybe 2), Centre Half and box to box Central Midfielder.

As important we need to slash the squad size.

DeVries, Compper, Allan, Bitton, Arzani contribution zero. All can go in January

Gamboa, Simunovic, Izaguirre, Kouassi, Hayes, Sinclair, Christie contribution minimal. At least 3-4 can go in January. I’d get rid of Gamboa, Jozo, Kouassi and Sinclair if we could.

Brown, Gordon, Griffiths, Lustig contribution/influence on the wain. We need to plan for their longer term replacements Over the next 2-3 windows.

We are overplaying Tierney, McGregor, Forrest, Ntcham because the back up is so weak, they will inevitably suffer from burnout.

    I agree with you …

But only up to a point.

The last few years has seen the development of the City Break CSC where the quality of the tourism opportunities take precedence of the football dimension.

Great to support the team but no special favours.

  8. Canamalar – 11:36pm re: Inferiority complex

Even when we played Lincoln Red Imps, a team with the football ability of a Spartans or Whitehill Welfare, because it was European competition, the team bottled it for 135 of 180 minutes.

The aggregate score should’ve been at least 12 in our favour.

I would say that you’re also bang on that it’s a Scottish wide issue, partly because the wee spl teams lose money in expenses but also because our media and players put continental football on a pedestal it ill deserves.

  9. Try not to be to rambling.. my infrequent posts are generally only when i am worried…

Think the last was before the sevco dble header last year .

For me the absoulte worry was the lack of adequate cover when you take a few of the regular tried and tested 16 players out of the team .

We have certainly been very ordinary in more games than we have been normal this year… the reasons are well debated we all know .

I still feel there is a big of turmoil behind the scenes… the allegedly issuses with leigh cannot just have been this last 2 weeks and make no mistake games like.last night were made for a fit and focussed guy like him .

The fact we seem to be operating with one striker is nothing short of disgraceful . Its ok having 40/50 mill in the bank but its not helping on the park .

As has been alluded to in this very thread the squad needs a complete overhall probably 4/5 first teamers in .. that is poor decision making and management at manager and ceo level .

If as we all hear rummors that the board will let Brendan go for the right offer etc.blah blah blah …. do you think they are going to allow him to spend big and start a gut out in january … no i just dont see it unless he has commited to at least 2 more years …

I honestly think the borad have rolled the dice and hope to get lucky this year .. this has pissed off Brendan.. and it shows in his media output… and tjis tension seeps to the team then us the fans and its a self harming circle..

Sundays game is the most importaint game since mr Rodgers took charge it will say a lot about his and the teams attituide … the wee huns wont be washed over like maybe the last few years they will spit kick and eye poke us all game … sunday is being more about the fight to get a result than many imagine ..

Based on last night i am not overly hopeful however true heros often emerge in adversity… i hope a few brave men step up on sunday … or the run to the winter break might not be a very nice few weeks to be one of us … and our expectation of what the club needs to do may not be what they actualy.do .

  10. City Break CSC ( founded @ 1966 )—

Greetings from a cloudy and feels cold ( For this southern Softy ) Leipzig ..

Less of a doing than I’d feared .Coped for 25 minutes and then wilted. Ambivalent -pleased /disappointed that Werner wasn’t playing . I like roadrunners that can play football .. Bit miffed by the last 30 minutes — Hey we’re playing Shalke at the weekend and you’re playing somebody we’ve never heard of – let’s call it a day and we’ll settle for a 2-0..

Visited the Runde Ecke Museum – former Stasi HQ -scary disturbing place …

  11. Take Brendan Rodgers oot of the Scottish one horse race SPFL, and he gets fun oot.

Take Brendan Rodgers oot of Liverpool FC, and LFC get to two 2 European finals in three 3 years.

Brendan, if you didny buy the rank rotten players in your squad, come clean and tell the supporters, that their many is being wasted by racketeering, from PLC executives. If you suck it up and, European poor results continue, spilling over to failure in the SPFL one horse race, then the PLC will throw you under the bus.

Brendan, that’s now two 2 transfer windows, were the PLC have pulled your troosers doon!

    Tic, toc,….

At least Neil Francis Lennon had the balls to walk out on the PLC chicanery.

  12. BOB O’ BALDY @ 10.40

IMHO Money put continental football on a pedestal that it ill deserves, the inferiority complex is a bi product of historical defeat which leads to another bi product of coeficiency, or the lack of.

It’s a money trap that drives smaller nations downwards, no use blaming Celtic when we’re the envy of the Rosenborgs or other teams ibelow us in the food chain or similar national leagues.

But the gap between Celtic and European teams is getter wider, inevitably we’re now being beaten by Euro sides like the Red Bull clubs because they’ve outspent us.

That is a pretty good summary of where Celtic is at now. Sadly. But, what is the solution? I don’t have the answer, but open to offers. HH

  19. Good grief, away for two weeks, and the dross on here remains the same.Beaten away to Leipzig.A team who sit a couple of points off the top of the Bundeslig.A team who have spent 240 million on players, and some are apoplectic with rage.Add in the fact we were playing with one hand tied behind our back due to our top players being unavailable, and a 2-0 defeat,to me anyway,is not a disaster.Reading some nonsense, that Europe should be our standard. My standard is winning no. 8,the treble again, and taking whatever money the ridiculous UEFA gives us.Bollox to their rigged tournaments. If the team arrive back at Celtic Park next year,on the open topped bus, celebrating another treble, who will be wetting the old pants remembering last nights game ?What is more important, winning number 8,or playing in the Europa in February in a tournament we cannot win.

  20. TB @ 11.51

You are correct we got beat by RBL who are in the top half of the German league.

    However …

It was a RBL team with a few of their first team players missing.

It was a RBL team that we matched for 30 minutes before the fear landed.

it was a RBL team that looked in the main rank ordinary until we made them look good.

We cannot work the basics of a throw in against teams a lot poorer than RBL.

Last night was a poor performance but it was not unexpected.

    That is the worrying thing.

  21. Oh and while I am at it — you have corners and free kicks as well where we treat them as a chore rather than an opportunity.

  22. prestonpans bhoys on

Just noticed that Clarke has been given a two match ban and £1000 for basically the same offence as Gerrard, not a pep from the press

  23. For players having no confidence, that’s a poor excuse, fact is we have quite a few players who are not up to it,and I lay the blame squarely on the manager and scouts who advised Brendan Rodgers to sign these players, full stop,I have said many times on here this present board need chased down London Rd,they haven’t the same ambition as many supporters have, Lawell Desmond and a few others have not been good for our Club, also they bum about how great the club is about all the Charity cause’s they help.with, well you know what time there was a bit of charity given to all Celtic Supporters,we got rid of one board before,so maybe the time is up for Lawell and Co.

  24. Easy to forget our opponents last night sit just 1 point behind Bayern Munich & with RB pouring in the cash Is this legal ? Our task last night was a lot tougher as we had major players unavailable as well for the game. Plus I see alsom from being a distant East european side a few years ago. RB L are worth 3330.000m euro’s. .I think our task just seems to get tougher every year to try & qualify
