Referring to a team no longer with us

753

Let’s be clear, you cannot punish a player on the basis that he has made a comment which is only offensive, offence is subjective, highly so in Scottish football, where thousands await the opportunity.

Nor can you punish a player for a derogatory remark which may offend, especially if the remark does not call into question the probity of the subject.  “Hearts are rotten, we beat them easily twice this season”, is a derogatory remark and will offend some Hearts fans, but it also falls into the category of being a fair opinion.

And without pointing out the obvious, you cannot offend the dead.  John Guidetti and the club are right to contest this ridiculous charge, which by context, clearly refers to a team no longer with us.

I was absolutely astonished to read that newco (and former oldco) director, Paul Murray, explained Dave King’s absence from newco’s recent share as he is waiting until the SFA “have completed their review of Dave’s status before he can fully participate in the future of the Club”.

The SFA have no issue whatsoever in Dave King investing heavily in newco, or in owning all shares.  Indeed, King is already the largest shareholder, which has attracted no attention from the football authorities.

The prospect of King sloping off if the SFA judge him not Fit and Proper (which I think they will), is a fabulous twist in the work of this legendary non-executive director of a dead club.  He sat on the oldco board which paid EBTs for so many years, he stayed while they made no provision for the HMRC tax case, plunging into the transfer market instead.  Now he awaits the whim of the SFA before deciding to invest, having led newco away from their primary source of funding.

What a star.

It’s a tremendous record in such a short time.

He’s not a traditional midfielder in the style of most of those names but his goals last season pulled us out a hole or two.

Absolutely. They are all in it together including SMSM who began to ramp things up from the moment the ink on the R.I.P Rangers pages was dry. We owe a debt of gratitude in the part they all played in hastening liquidation.

The realisation that Celtic didn’t have an ‘armageddon’ but thrived on the demise of Rangers is the bitterest pill they’ve had to swallow.

From strength to strength have gone Celtic, to the phoney semi final where ‘they’ were allowed by ‘this country’ to reintroduce songs banned by UEFA in 2005, whilst they hit a brick wall on the park, with their wee diddy team.

The SFA, SMSM, Sevco all huns all in a mess together with the zombie club continuing to flat line, the more the Celtic success, the more we hear from a compliance officer.

    Feck this.

For three years we have had the collusion of the Scottish Establishment and Scottish media ripping up their own rule books, disappearing down a rabbit-hole into a world where down is up and up is down, for one purpose: to ensure the existence of a form of Hun FC.

This Guidetti insanity must be the final straw.

Thousands of huns sing songs of race and sectarian hate a month ago. Twice at least. Songs a court has already deemed illegal. And nothing happens.

A Hun board member sends a Moslem woman an obscene cartoon of the prophet Muhammad with the clear intention to intimidate, bully and belittle her. And nothing happens.

Campbell Ogilvie – “deeply compromised” though he is by his own admission – is not facing criminal charges but continues to iron the aprons.

Hun Football Club operated an apartheid signing policy for 100 years – and nothing happens.

Several hundred Hun fans are pictured giving Nazi salutes in Israel – and nothing happens.

Hun manager Walter Smith is interviewed 15 years ago. He said: “There is an air of Protestant superiority about the place.”

Instead of being cauterised by Scotland’s press for living in the Dark Ages, this is greeted with smiles and nods. All’s well with the world. And nothing happens.

“I was told not to bless myself when I ran on to the pitch.”

John Guidetti repeats a terrace song containing the words “The huns are deid”, and is arraigned by the SFA.

    1. “Hun” is not sectarian. Easily proven.

    2. The huns ARE deid. Easily proven.

Time to draw a line, IMO.

I am sick of 3 years of seeing swaggering, bullying huns reinvent themselves as victims, and I am even sicker of watching a corrupt football governing body and Scottish state help them do it.

This idiocy about Guidetti strikes me as a very good ‘in’. A can opener, as it were.

    Let’s see the worms.

“Celtic are fostering a culture of racism and sectarianism”

The club should sue the bollix off them for that IMO, I would imagine it’s the recently departed racist, bigoted hun director who penned the artical.
