Remarkable statistic illuminates Armstrong’s rise

307

There was only a minute between Celtic’s second and third goals against Partick Thistle on Friday evening but for that moment, a remarkable statistic had currency. Stuart Armstrong scored three and assisted two of Celtic’s six previous goals in the league. This is a level beyond an incredible upgrade in form.

Watching Stuart’s blossoming in recent weeks, you still get he’s been playing within himself for much of the last two years. It could be that the inverted-left-winger role didn’t suit him, or that the step up to the pressures of playing for Celtic inhibited him to the extent that the levels of confidence necessary to perform were not to be found.

Even now, watching his body language on the field, and in interview, he looks like he’s still finding his way. I’m pretty sure there’s more to come from him, given the necessary support.

  1. Is it true that the NHS in Scotland are offering one additional bi-annual free colo-rectal screening to Scottish Tims due to the amount of smoke blown up their arses?

  2. however, I am interested to see how JPT deals with our concerns re our negative portrayal in the media…..although I won’t be holding my breath…..for anything substantiative…..

Come on. How old are you? There is no sanity clause.

  10. huns Uefa license for 2016/17…..is pure speculation….although I am aware that if we get the treble…..they might be in a position to profit due to the extra place opened….if they cook the books re ffp…..

I would expect….that if all those ifs come to pass…..that an unbiased SFA would do their job…..;-))

  12. Disrespect the SMSM by all means. But the way this site disrespects Celtic leaning blogs who have no agenda to get on the Celtic board is beyond parody.

I think all Tims should disrespect the SMSM by all means.

  14. No idea if the Celtic View is still published. Never bought it. Unfortunately my dad and granda did. I think the narratives on this blog replicate the Editorial view of the old publication very well. Don’t fall for it.

  15. Apparently James McCarthy (Arsenal had him on their radar 2014) and Robert Snodgrass ( Everton had him on their radar before his injury last season). Both massive tims would not improve our midfield. ? Omg. Please be grateful that Brendan can even close these deals. They wouldnt improve our midfield? Jesus wept.

  16. Rudi,

    I haven’t commented on the McCarthy n Snodgrass stories…..’cause they’d both be a waste of money IMHO…..and there’d be no improvement……;-))

  17. And. Just waiting for some feckwit to say we don’t want James McClean either because he ‘only’ played for Sunderland and West Brom.

  18. The Lurkin Tim

The one we need most out of them is James McCarthy as a defensive mid.

    In Brendan I trust.

  19. Rudi,

McClean wouldn’t come back up…..cause he’s too busy sortin oot the Nakatomi Tower hostage situation…..or is it that airport…..I get confused ;-))

  20. Find it hilarious how some on here put a wage cap on the players they want.

‘I’d only have him at 20k a week maximum’ and the like.

Do they have access to budgets lol.

Like something outta Monty Python lol.

  21. Rudi,

McCarthy at how many millions to buy? & pay….I do rate him…..yep…..unfortunately, unless promise of CL & 1st team fitbaw ;-))

  22. Lurkingtim.

Yep. In my opinion James McCarthy would keep a Brendan Rodgers side in European football beyond Xmas

He is exactly what our midfield needs

Perfect age to get an EPL footballer who WANTS to play for the Hoops too.

Have watched him lots in last 4 years.

    Cracking footballer.

    In Brendan I trust.

  23. Lurkingtim

He’d be every bit as good as Stan Petrov was for us in my opinion

Different age profile and all that I know….but reckon Brendan would know how quickly he turns defence into attack. Bit like Stan did for us really.

  24. Lurkintim

Broonie can’t go on forever, at this intensity,We know that.Great player this season though.

Armstrong is great in SPL last few months but nowhere near the quality of James McCarthy.

He wants to play for Celtic. Let’s hope Brendan wants him as he will cost a lot of money.

    In Brendan I trust.

  25. McCarthy, McClean and Snodgrass on the shopping list lol. …..a guy just collapsed with a cardiac arrest on a heated driveway 8 miles outside Glasgow when he read that lol……

  26. mmmmm this Coral Mini needs a spellcheck…..sacrilage…..Armstrong eventually replaces Broonie….McGregor slots in….Henderson is McGregors sub…..quandry…..who’s (futurewise) likely to spell Armstrong…..;-))
