Remarkable statistic illuminates Armstrong’s rise

307

There was only a minute between Celtic’s second and third goals against Partick Thistle on Friday evening but for that moment, a remarkable statistic had currency. Stuart Armstrong scored three and assisted two of Celtic’s six previous goals in the league. This is a level beyond an incredible upgrade in form.

Watching Stuart’s blossoming in recent weeks, you still get he’s been playing within himself for much of the last two years. It could be that the inverted-left-winger role didn’t suit him, or that the step up to the pressures of playing for Celtic inhibited him to the extent that the levels of confidence necessary to perform were not to be found.

Even now, watching his body language on the field, and in interview, he looks like he’s still finding his way. I’m pretty sure there’s more to come from him, given the necessary support.

James McCarthy or Robert Snodgrass? No’ fur me. Don’t see either as better than what we have. Maybe Snodgrass if he’s free and will settle for £20K a week.

    If not, move on.

James Forrest – brilliant this year as a 24 year old. Paddy Roberts? Miles better than James Forrest at 19. If we can get him for £5M-£10M I’d bite yer hand off.

I’d also like the Aussie Mooey as well rather than Snodgrass or McArthur.

OF game on the 31st at 12.15 UK time.

Does anyone have any info on the situation with this game in the US?

Will it be on a readily available TV channel?

Or will a CSC be showing it in San Fransisco?

My hotel looks to be closer to the Abbey Tavern in “Richmond”.

Will it be on in the pub or will it be TV only?

Not sure if I would want to be wandering about in the middle of the night.

Don’t want to run across a gang of SV venture capitalist types doing an all nighter.

The guys can only ask the questions that you submit. If it is easier post them on here, rather than email them in, and mark for my attention or for Hot Smoked or VFR800. We’ll get them from the blog.

  10. So many wasting their time talking SMSM crap about Mc Carthy,Snodgrass.EPL players, with EPL transfers or wages.Way out of our league, and anyway, not worth the overpricing.

How many managers is that ,that did not fancy Liam Henderson?.IMO he is Hibs class.Saw him too many times playing for Hibs, and was blowing out his ass the last 20 mins.Boy has a stamina problem.Been around far too long to not have made it.

We will get who we get in January,or the summer.Wont be any of these overpriced EPL players.

  11. WINNING CAPTAINS

Can’t see the point in these questions to JPT.

HUDDLE I agree on Henderson. He is talented but don’t see where he fits at present. *The same could be said about a young wing half we had that had just turned 20 when he knelt down to tie his shoelace before THAT penalty, he was a late developer, or so we thought.

Jock played him up front as an old fashioned inside forward before giving him a free rein on the park. I wouldn’t like to see Liam leave as he has all the attributes to be a player, however, he does come from a Hibbees family so mibbees that’s where his heart (nae pun intended) lies.

    ++++

If you had watched the U-20s for years as I have you would have no doubt where Liam’s heart lies. He is a gem and deserves a run. If anything, he tries too hard when he gets a wee run. Great vision, total commitment, energy and skill. He showed last year that he can compete with the “agricultural” types and we would be mental to let him go. Sell Bitton to create an opportunity for Liam.

  14. Just read the answers to the questions put to JP on our behalf. So far,I hate to say,the answers have been a load of fudge.Nothing so far has been worth a comment.Great idea, but if it continues in this vein,I fail to see the point of it.The question put about the rags like the Trinity Mirror Group, gave us the great answer,”Just dont buy them”in couched language.Really?,is that it?.Put it onto the fans again while our team welcomes them into Celtic Park whenever.

Credit to the guys for asking, but I wont hold my breath for any great revelations concerning the next batch of questions regarding the “Act”.

OK,so Lenny,Deila, and BR are all wrong about Liam, but you are right.Even when he was loaned out in Scandinavia he hardly featured.Nothing against the boy,but he is not any kind of answer to our midfield.Out of his class,I am afraid.Did well abroad with the female he picked up right enough.

Thats just plain wrong. He did a good job in Scandinavia and a great job in Edinburgh. Paradise is where his heart is and he needs an extended run this season to prove his ability under pressure. Hope he gets it.

  21. Liam Henderson played for NFL and looked the part.

Think he was sent off in a pre-season friendly under RD. His chances were few and far between, before being sent out on loan, twice.

During his time in Norway he won the league and cup winners medals.

Whilst at Easter rd he played 32 games and provided the cross for Hibee’s equaliser and winner.

    He’s 20 years of age.

He looks the part when I see him.

Or are we repeating the stupidity of writing players off ?

    BATO CSC Twitter: @BATOSFCELTIC

There is also a CSC in Millbrae, nearer San Jose.

If the CSC route doesn’t work for you, you can find out which channels are showing the game in USA at:

    http://www.livesoccertv.com/

Info should be up about a week before the game.

Since kick off will be 4:15 am out west, you might want to look into web options. Fox have a web option. You would probably have to register and pay $10 for a month’s subscription, I am guessing.

Since you will be outside of the UK and Ireland, you could sign up for a month of Celtic TV once you are in the USA. that way, you will get the game for sure.

    Hope this helps.
