The bedrock Celtic built their record-breaking league win on last was the defence; we went months without conceding, serious chances for opponents were written up lustily. A large part of the summer shambles was the contrasting nature of our defensive play; Legia Warsaw scored six but they also missed a hatful.
While our results have improved in recent weeks it’s the defensive record which has shown the most marked up-lift. We’ve conceded only twice in seven games, a ricochet against Astra and that goal against Hamilton. By contrast, we kept only a solitary clean sheet in the seven games prior to this run.
On the surface, we looked shaky in defence for the latter parts of the game against Inverness on Saturday, but while there is still work to do, the defence can be encouraged that they are able to withstand sustained pressure – and that they can rely on their keeper, when necessary.
A couple of action points for you:
Magners are donating £18,300 to the Celtic Foundation. The money will go to the four areas the Foundation work: Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty, in proportion to how fans nominate those areas. To participate, tweet @MagnersUK with one of the following hashtags: #Health, #Equality, #Learning or #Poverty.
Magners have been a great help to our campaign to build a fourth CQN school kitchen for Mary’s Meals in recent weeks, so I’m keen we support and encourage this initiative. £18,300 is a huge bonus for the Foundation, they will do great work with it.
The Foundation are full on with their Christmas strategy at the moment. This year money will be split between those who look after the homeless and vulnerable, and individual families – identified by grassroots organisations, to help them buy gifts for kids and put a Christmas meal on the table.
This work is being done in your name, so make sure you’re aware of it.
The inaugural Foundation ladies’ lunch event, Ghirls for Good, takes place on Saturday 13 December, proceeds towards the Christmas Appeal. If you qualify……. Book here.

Peter Lawell / Celtic Board
Speak up now for the fans.
Your continued silence is embarrassing and only re-Inforces the view that you are complicit in the big lie.
Today, Graeme Spiers is the latest to “welcome the return of the Old Firm”, with his sick reference that “a few women will take a few blows” over this fixture.
Put an end to this charade now Celtic.
Tell it like it is, and don’t take the cowardly route of staying silent.
Just tell the truth.
There is no Old Firm
Now how would the ET get his address ?
Going out on a limb here, McCoist?
Tony D said:
” we have had so many games more than any other team in the league, we have new players and including myself as a new manager with all the team new to me, myself and the coaching staff barely get time to do our job, and that is tactics, positions, WHOIS where, set pieces, and lots of other stuff that needs to be done, it’s frustrating but it comes with the job, for instance we have just played four games in nine days, players need rest after that so no traing the next day is a must, but we are in all the tournaments and so far every thing is good with the staff and the players” now you won’t read that in the SMSM and he wasent making
Tony D.
Maybe we should be glad we won`t be reading it in the SMSM. Their take would have been something like this:
“Delia has been bleating about how many games Celtic have to play and how Celtic have not given him time to do his job properly! The Nagging Norse then goes on to say
that his players need a rest! In October, for God`s sake!!”

My mistake, the page refreshed, I wasn’t keeping up
Our board need to nail this lie right now, although they should have done it two years ago.
I was brought up to beleive that cheats don’t win, and they always get caught.
pinnochio & jiminey
Yes will do – no problem at all.
Tony D
Suarez was banned from ALL football. Including, initially, even going into a stadium.
JJ
Kev…,
You financially supporting the board now ?
Anyone any info on the outcome of CFC’s meeting with the Daily Re**rd last week following their frivolous reporting of the serious assault on our goalkeeper?
Also, has anyone on here bought the paper since?
moravcik
They do, and it ended in liquidation.
The show continues and will do, Ashley has no interest in Sevco on the field, its what he can get out of them, just like all the other previous suitors.
I would say, cheats don’t prosper.
Celtic FC is not a mouthpiece.
Tony67
Suarezs’ was a completely different ban. He wasn’t allowed to anything football related.
I think tonev will be free tonight just like when broony was banned after barca he could play domestically.
A wee request.
Could posters refrain from saying what Celtic SHOULD have done and suggest, instead, what we could do?

That’s why I added a rider at the bottom, he wasent complaining,, just telling it like it is, it’s little things like this fans don’t think about, but yes that would be the MSMs take on it, bang on.
The situation with Tonev is a little bit complicated.
The fellow’s on loan from Villa until January. He has a 7 game ban that may or may not be appealed.
Between today and 31st December, Celtic have 7 domestic matches, all SPFL.
If Celtic appeal the ban, the appeal will be held in due course, probably some time in December, allowing the player to play for Celtic throughout the period.
If the appeal fails, he’ll be returned to Villa in January with probably 6 games remaining of a 7 game domestic ban to serve.
The player will want to appeal the decision to clear his name, quite rightly.
Celtic will want to appeal the decision in order that they can get some value from the remaining months of the loan.
Villa on the other hand will be going spare, and may yet have some influence on the matter.
Celtic should ban all over 65’s from Celtic Park until I get to 65
Philbhoy- a bhoy posted at the weekend the DR had been asked to CP,to explain the ‘reporting’ of Zaluska’s assault. He might have posted that the DR had given CFC an answer, but i think CFC wanted further talks as it was unacceptable.Hope i’ve not got this mixed up……..
I see Mr Strachan slightly retracting his statements about certain clubs – seems he now accepts that “manipulation” might have been the wrong word to use. But he stands by his argument that the “biggest” clubs should be in the top division, claiming most people agree with him.
Well, frankly I don’t.
Promotion and relegation issues should be decided by football results. The reason Hibs are in the second tier and Hamilton are in the top tier is because the latter won the play off. Anything else would be wrong and would fundamentally change the nature of the sport.
Perhaps German and Poland should be awarded Euro 2016 places? They are bigger countries that Scotland. And surely the biggest countries should be in the finals??
Big clubs should have the advantage over small ones. More money should mean better players. But the underdog sometimes wins – and that’s exactly what makes sports so exciting.

I assume your talking IQ, and not age?
Gordon_J….
Agree.
The wee man has cocked up a few times recently if reports are to be believed.
It’s a shame as I always believed he was his own man.
Another legend heading for legnedary status.
Gordon_j…,
He has been corrupted he is corrupt and he has lost the meaning of sport, I nave nothing but contempt for the little shit, and when I think how I supported him it makes me sick.
Campbell’s boy
!!BadaBing!!
Thanks for that!

I hope someone puts this point to GS at the next press conference!
TD,
That’s exactly why I made the suggestion, over 65’s is when your dotage set in and apparently you can’t follow a simple argument.

Define – we.
If you mean the board – they don’t care – they’ve already got your money in the bank so – they’ll not be bothered.
If you mean the fans – their toothless or, they wouldn’t be doormats on the outside looking in so – apathy means no action there apart from keyboard thumping and some coyotes on the phone-ins.

TD,
So when you are having a go, its debate and when anyone else joins in your debate they are arguing, you need toilet roll to wipe your mouth. He he he
So you bottled it to let the meeting know you were not happy with activists collecting signatures for the living wage eh.
After all the outraged none sense you spouted on here about making sure they would be in no doubt about your feelings you bottled it, what a spokesman you turned out to be eh.
He he he
Here’s a good one from my Guide to Happy Clapping handbook, page 27.
Tonev in tomorrow to replace stokeys and he scores the winning goal. Smsm, huns and green huns alike all incandescent with rage :)
Sounds braw to me.
