Return to Tannadice, Bisgrove’s chance slipped

105

Tannadice was the scene of some great Celtic games, a couple of memorable league wins and several hard luck stories.  The venue has been missed from the Premiership roster, a consequence of a strong football club falling into the hands of general incompetents.  Good to see United back.

Say what you like about Mike Ashley, he must be a nightmare to do business with, but at least he ships quality product.  How you leave Ashley behind and allow ‘two Tims from Liverpool’ to make matters worse, beggars belief.

This time last year, Newco had a route out of their matching deal with Sports Direct.  Commercial director, James Bisgrove, had to set an early deadline for offers for the new contract, then ask Sports Direct to match or decline the deal.  There are in excess of a dozen kit suppliers who would have been happy to pick the contract up, if Sports Direct declined, as they did.

A production slot would have been booked and a kit deal help pay the bills.  As it is, they left it too late for a production slot.  Castore were the only outfit prepared to hawk manufacturing around, whatever the cost to quality and reputation.

Still, the contract only has five years to run.

  1. I’m getting to the point of scrolling bye the political posts that there is barely anything to read. So I think I’ll take a break until the football posts make a comeback. H H Hebcet

As you often do, you just spoke the unvarnished truth. Any hint of disrespect to nationalists generates fear and loathing on Facebook and on Twitter. The attack dogs are also here.

I can’t fathom this slavish worship of nationalism. More so, when you consider that Scotland was historically the part of Britain most openly hostile to Irish immigrants.

I told you yesterday, this is the most lucrative kit deal ever signed by a Scottish klub. The SMSM said so.

I think Hot Smoked went early season before last with Calmac for player of the year after one or two games and was correct … “if” Elyounoussi stays fit I have a feeling he is going to be our most influential player in the coming months ahead and “might” scoop the same award :-)

That really does seem a long time ago! Incidentally, what is the criteria for selection re the 1,000 allowed in for the Motherwell trial?

Also, if that is successful, how many will be allowed for the next stage and do domestic `bubbles` sitting together count as one attendee?

Based on the (very few) games played the players seem to be comfortable with no fans at Celtic Park but with only Killie to judge things, players maybe missing our away support …

    Celtic’s founders were Irish nationalists.

They were most definitely not Scottish nationalists.

They were smart enough to be able to differentiate between Ireland’s situation within the Union and Scotland’s position within the Union.

You maybe want to have a think about that.

  13. All I know is,the vast majority of Bigots in Scotland,detest the SNP,detest Nicola Sturgeon,with a vengeance.

100%. This is rapidly becoming a political site with the odd comment about Celtic.

  15. The Huns debacle with Castore brings much hilarity to Celtic Fans. It is relevant to Celtic Fans in that it’s roots go back to Rangers Liquidation Which they think never happened. Charles Green and his chateau with a string of racehorses all bought with his earnings from Sevco.

The fact that these commercial deals and the consequences are all predicted with accuracy by Tim pundits add to the hilarity. Mike Ashley’s out manoeuvering of the silly billy’s makes amusing reading. The school jumpers story is hilarious.

it is also relevant in the Huns contrasts with Celtics commercial deals. Criticism of Adidas by celtic fans is centred on personal taste and is very light as adidas is one of the world leaders. Man Utd, Bayern, Chelsea, Real Madrid and many more elite clubs wear adidas and Celtic are amongst them. We are doing business with the elite clubs and the Huns are scrabbling around with market traders.

We are a well run Club and they are not. These stories reinforces the narrative

Watching the Killie game vs Sevco, and its 0:0 at half time. Sevco have shaded it but Killie have mounted more attacks than most visitors to Ibrox.

Roofe & Itten have been truly anonymous

  19. Just looked at the stats in the Huns V Killie game. As expected, the Huns are dominating in possession, shots, corners etc but what really surprised me was the fouls count. 10 `committed by Sevco, four by Killie.

Does an empty stadium lead to greater fairness by the referees?

  20. If anyone can show me where I said Celtics founders were Scottish nationalists I would stand corrected.

What I did say was they were irish nationalists.

On another occasion, that is not a match day, you might want to explain why 130 years later with no increase in overt oppression being visited upon Scotland, we have developed a notion that never troubled the 5 or 6 generations that preceded us
