BRENDAN RODGERS’ first signing as he prepares to kick off his second time-around as Celtic boss is Norwegian Odin Thiago Holm.

The central midfielder, 20, has sealed a five-year deal with the champions after agreeing the switch from top-flight Valerenga.

Rodgers, speaking to the club website, said: “We are delighted to bring Odin to the club and to secure his signing so early in the window.

“He is a player who has been in the club’s scouting and recruitment system for some time.

“I have looked at him closely and believe he is someone who can make a big impact at the club.

“I have spent time already with Odin, he is an ambitious, exciting young player and I know he is delighted to be joining us.

“He is a great addition to the quality squad we already have and we really look forward to working with him.”

PUZZLER…Aaron Mooy has been linked with reports of retirement.

The arrival of Odin swells the engine room of Rodgers’ squad at the same time there is speculation Australian World Cup star Aaron Mooy, who will be 33 in September, is thinking of quitting, despite still having 12 months of his Hoops deal to run, as CQN reported earlier today.

Yosuke Ideguchi, 26, who is on loan at J-League outfit Avispa Fukuoka, is due to return at the end of the year, but there have been suggestions he may have kicked his last ball for the Hoops.

The unfortunate anchorman, who joined along with Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda in January 2022, was injured in his first start in the 2-1 Scottish Cup win at Alloa and was allowed to move in February to gain some game time.
