Roll up, roll up, crap club

821

The Rangers International share prospectus contained references about league reconstruction possibly expediting the club’s ascent to the Scottish Premier League for the first time.  This was never on anyone else’s agenda and was merely the latest manifestation of the train of thought that Scottish football could not, and would not, consider life without ‘Rangers’ in the top flight, or perhaps one division below.  We can only hope that the company’s budgeting was not dependent on this aspiration.

Even the most ardent advocates of the belief structure that a ‘Rangers’ branded company is wanted and needed by the rest of the game must now accept ample evidence exists that their flat earth claims are folly.  For the record, Scottish football no more needs Celtic than it did Rangers, we are a lumbering albatross around their necks.

The Rangers chief executive, Charles Green, makes a valid point about the remainder of his club’s season, “If this [12-12-18 reconstruction] does happen, what is the point of us finishing the season?

“We might as well have a winter break from now until August. I can’t see any point in carrying on with meaningless matches.”

Crap club

As many have pointed out, his is the same purpose as the teams in each division who are free of relegation threats and already out of title/promotion contention – it’s called sport, but all teams in the SFL Third Division are effectively now playing for the joy of the game itself, which is pretty much what most of the do anyway.  Let’s hope Mr Green’s comments are not widely reported to those he is trying to sell tickets to.  It was astutely reported that Green has the makings of a PT Barnum about him, but rubbishing your own product is more Gerald Ratner than Barnum.

Roll up, roll up

By contrast, PT Lawwell’s comments on the proposed reorganisation, “To be fair, it is one of the very infrequent times when the greater good of the game has been taken into account”, could be taken straight from the consensus-builder’s manual.  It remains to be seen how best to serve the greater good, but any solution has to work for every club, not just one or two.

Delighted Terry Butcher is staying in the Highlands.  Great news for Inverness and the SPL.  I’m enjoying this season; more please.

  4. Jobo Balde, went to Rome last year at Easter. Stayed in the Termini area; amazingly arffordable for a capital city in Europe. People were so nice. We stayed in Star Metropole for a week. Was fabulous. Btw. The Papal address, if interested, on a we’d at 11. Forget the tourist guides and, even better, get a slip from your parish priest to get you into St Peters and skip the queues before you leave home. Also buy a ticket for Vatican museum, ignore time given. You want every moment there. Hope this helps; have a great time and remember to take trainers or comfy shoes. A wonderful city! Fabulous memories.

If you’re going to Rome have a look at the airbnb.com website – you can rent rooms or whole apartments for your stay. The places are all reviewed so it’s pretty trustworthy, I reckon. It covers properties all over the world.

It’s almost so obvious, that I’m worried it’s genuine.

Either way if folk start to pick up on it, it’s potentially going to lead to lots of mistrust between fans, group gets fractures and loads decide it’s not worth it.

Or it unites the group and leads them to cross that line, that is mentioned several times, making any board action against them seem justified.

  14. Much is made on Wikipedia of Neil Doncaster giving his beneplacit to the notion that Sevco was an existing club when it was allowed to start life in SFL Division 3.

The ownership of the Deady Bears now has its own article on Wiki, perhaps it has for some time. The Doncaster role in confirming what fans of the former club wanted to hear is referenced there very clearly. The only other person whose support for the notion they include is Charles Green.

What’s interesting is that, as you have to if you want any Wiki article you submit to last more than a day, this one includes lots of external references that purport to back up statements of fact in the article. The one for the Doncaster thing is an interview he gave to Gordon Chree at STV on July 16. I had never watched it before.

It is billed as lasting about 14 minutes and you have to endure three adverts before it begins. I thought I’d listen to the first bit of it and give up when it all got too Sevcophantic. I realise in putting this down in black and white that it sounds like the worst 14 minutes of anybody’s life, but I’m glad I did it.

The interview is easy to follow, and the bit under scrutiny here, luckily, comes in the first couple of minutes. Doncaster does not say Sevco is Rangers. His endorsement of the notion is not there. It did not happen.

That’s not what I asked and not what you said you predicted btw.

You also don’t ‘know’, you suspect, or have an opinion. Big difference.

  16. Bada ,we are up in main stand ,clubs debenture seats with hopefully access to lounge.

    Hope they have Magners :O)

  17. Maybe the board should challenge the GB to a square go at some mutually agreed industrial estate?

That might help clear the air.
