Ronny, this is your starting point

1151

Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

Hopefully we’ll be back to something more recognisable as a full squad on Wedenesday, including Wakasooooooo.

Blog on the go this week, email delays too.

it sounds like you think RD was hired to bring about some sweeping changes

can i ask what changes is it that you are expecting RD to bring?

and why do you think that these changes take more than 3 months?

Finally, probably a somewhat loaded question but, do you think RD is qualified to manage Celtic and bring about these sweeping changes

All serious questions Joe, and all open to any RD fans, (if there are any left)

  2. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Bada Bing. I understand what you are saying there are 3 games that give me hope Dundee Utd at home Maribor away Saltzburg away.I think in these three games there were some green shoots of recovery.I believe more time is needed for Rony but understand the concerns of many. H.H.

  3. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Tamrabam. I expect Rony to field a team that can keep the ball and be fluid in attack.I dont know if he is qualified to manage Celtic only time will tell.I also think 3 months is to short a period to say he wont succeed just my opinion.H.H.

  4. JFH-I was meaning a consistent team pattern, with partnerships developing all over the park,he is under pressure now and has to pick his strongest team in every game, not making 6 changes for a game.

  5. Pair up Guidetti & Scepovic & move McGregor into the deeper lying role normally given to Commons with Bitton sitting in midfield alongside Brown and we might see some shafts of light at last.

Hopefully the physio’s are working hard on getting Lustig – Matthews – Fisher & Forrest back soon……either that or get Brian Scott back too !!

With none of them playing it probably was pull a name out the hat time.

Just as well they didn’t – 73/8th would probably lost the toss! :-)

  7. eddieinkirkmichael – Congratulations on your podium vicgory. (thumbsup)

operator – Ronny is a dud.

Ronny is a dude, and the dude abides. For now.

If he does turn out to be a dud, Mr Lawwell should go with him.

The Sharp Suited Man has been rather rumpled of late. 11 years is long enough in any job for even the most Gordony of Gekkos to lose their edge. Complacency and boredom affect even the best of us.

There’s nothing wrong with Celtic’s strategy, but the execution of it has been ham-fisted for some time now.

Time we appointed a new chief exec with a lean and hungry outlook. (thumbsup)

  8. i remember reading on here that stromsgodset winning

the Norwegian Premier League was like st johnstone winning the SPL.

well maybe thats because st johnstone could win the norwegian league

and thats the level of manager we have brought in

ive said from the off the guys hopelessly out his depth.

nothing from the last few weeks has changed that, infact it has enhanced it.

we are having to make two substitutions every half time to improve

performance in the second half, surely that is ringing alarm bells with

    some of you guys?

a manager who after umpteen games/weeks still doesnt know his best side????

i mean really???? hes watching the same dross as us.

the guys not got it and its not miraculously gonna appear.

however, wednesday night is the watershed moment, we will see how it goes.

and with that , lawwell and desmond are a complicit.

    JFH

    Salzburg away?

big gordon stopped a pumpin there with 3 world class saves and two really poor finishes.

  9. Stop worrying my little nervous wrecks. Celtic shall sweep aside the Minis on Wednesday, gub the Pandas on Saturday, and Dundee United will get beat by St Johnstone as per. Then everything will be fine.

Put your house on it (don’t put your house on it).

  10. In some defence of Ronny’s attempts at building his first X11 :

3 dependable right backs out injured….

    Forster sold….

    Ambrose knackered and off form…

VVD head melting child arriving..& transfer window antics

    Denayer to be bedded in…

Izzy knackered post world cup (thanks Mr Lawell for an obvious flaw in team building)

    Brown injury pre-season

    Forrest injury after 2 minutes

Getting shot of Balde, Pukki and others

Late arrival of Tonev & injury to Tonev

    Later arrival of Wakuso

Very late arrival of Scepovic & Guidetti

    Blooming international breaks

    Johannsson off form

    Commons off form…

    Stokes off form…

    Griffiths off…..

How easy has it been to create a settled team with this going on ?

It’s not a get out of jail card but we need a bit of luck with above and a settled team asap now…

My grandson is out there just now and Im not happy that Celtic recognize this regime that treats workers so badly. Two civil rights workers went out there last month and have went missing without trace.

I’ve followed Celtic man and boy for 60 years, and i’ll tell you right now.

    Ronny is a dud.

Same here, over 60 years. It’s as plain as the big hooter on my face,he’s u/s.

And I’ve tried to back him all the way but he doesn’t even seem capable of grasping the basics.

Most people on here could do a better job.

God knows what team he’ll put out on Wednesday.

    HH.

  13. To beat 4-5-1 we need width and good delivery. We need to get in behind teams from wide and deliver.

Our full backs can’t cross and the wide players turn inside all the time.

Can anyone remember a cross to Guidetti yesterday?

  14. Breaking news: John Collins sacked.

Ronald de Boer is being brought in to replace him.

Celtic to be managed by the two Ronnies. (thumbsup)

  15. Timbhoy in Spain – “And I’ve tried to back him all the way”

With all due respect he’s been here 2 minutes. We haven’t seen out September yet…

    Bit more patience perhaps ?

  16. BCW

I guess the top 3 ‘ideally’ in RD’s system is Wakuso, Scepovic/Guidetti and Forrest.

But equally when unavailable he shouldn’t be asking for CM to be a James Forrest clone.

Can you just walk up to the Ticket Office before the game and buy a ticket?

Frankly, Mr Shankly, I’m a sickening wreck

Big Wavy,Yes I agree more patience is called for.

Hope I’m wrong ,just got a horrible feeling it’s not going to work out.

I said about a month ago I’d settle for winning the league this year

& anything else would be a bonus.

I just don’t think the players believe in him.

    Hope he makes it.

  22. Big Wavy

at the end of next season

    the loanees will be offski

    the manager will be offski

the club will be in transition again, except with an worse base than RD inherited

CL qualification will be hazardous to say the least

EL qualification may also be too big a challenge for us if it keeps going this way.

last seasons signings were a disaster that set the club backwards

This seasons signings are of a similar quality

he is an unknown manager from an unknown league in an unknown universe

Big Peter should have known better. A nail for his own coffin

The Club will need to restructure from top to bottom after this project.

I only hope that disaster strikes the sevconians once again because we are not making much of an advantage in their absence

Too many Celtic fans cheering him on as if he was a Messiah, when they had never even heard of him. Like huns cheering Craig Whyte outside their main stand. All you happy clappers out there who still don’t believe whats starting you right in the face should write this down somewhere and come back and remind me later, if Im wrong.

Tin hat on, but 5 wins in 13 games speaks volumes for a man who inherited a team that went thru last season with one single domestic defeat.

  23. On the 2 Ronnie’s analogy:

It was revealed in a survey of Celtic supporters published today that the Manager is apparently doing the work of two men: Laurel and Hardy.

Personally speaking: I do worry about the wisdom of the RD experiment: I had hoped he learned something following the mass changes in personnel he made for the ICT game. Yet here we are a few weeks later watching him try the same again.

How can we expect continuity of service and across the team improvement when we have huge changes in team from game to game?

I wish him well, I really do but if he’s not careful, Ronny will be lucky to see out the season, i.e. autumn …

I hope the players dont feel as negative as some of the bhoys on CQN. We need to support the team and the manager if we want them to win and not boo them booing is not going to help a player or the teams confidence.Wednesday nights game is a big one against an on form Hearts and we can build our confidence from there get behind the team on Wednesday you can be sure the Hearts fans will get behind there team it should be a real good game. H.H.

Aye, the huns will be back next season and the SFA will be getting them in pre-season for intensive ‘result management’ seminars.

  26. I really enjoyed the 2nd half yesterday. Some neat football and lots of attempts. After a bright opening the first half was very poor though, can’t get away from that. I’d forgotten Tonev was on the pitch at all yesterday until a workmate reminded me.
