Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

When i played with my high school team, our Rector managed it and he tried to make us aware of our langauge and asked us not to blaspheme as we were representing a Catholic school and should set an example to the other schools we played.
Being silly wee boys we ran about in our next game saying things like…..”steady on old chap” and “oh my” etc, etc, in our poshest voices when any of us were kicked :)
Paul, I have been putting off submitting my thoughts since after the first Legia Warsaw game, hoping my reaction was of the knee-jerk variety, but I now think enough game time has passed to feel it is not.
Firstly,I have to query the board’s ability to assess mangers for the job. Dermot Desmond selected GS and MON. The board selected TM and got it hideously wrong. Most of us watched horrified through our fingers as NL got the job after a four month trial, but it turned out to be a reasonable/lucky appointment, no better than that, and not to be unkind, this was definitely partly down to the demise of our biggest opponents. I find myself wondering if this is why NL now finds himself struggling to secure a post in England.
Next, and I know there was not an extensive candidate list, the board appoints someone with no knowledge of Scottish or European football, and thrust upon him an ‘assistant’ with a titanic ego and a track record in failure. John Collins may have enjoyed a good and financially-rewarding football career, but he is not a winner. Tell me, when the chips were down, as a player, coach or manager, when did John Collins ever turn a situation around single-handed? I cannot think of one. And before anyone mentions the game at Ibrox where SDM banned the Celtic support, we scored first, so he was not rescuing anything that day.
Yesterday, when we were crying out for some consistency of selection, for a team to start taking shape and mould itself into a cohesive unit after a decent team performance in midweek, our manager elects to make six changes, injuries notwithstanding, and then blames them for not functioning as a team.
His signings, if they are his, are looking worse than those he shipped. Tonev, Berget, Scepovic already look like they will not cut the mustard, To be fair, Wakasso looks a good player and Guidetti needs more time. Johansson seems to have regressed since last season, Darnell Fisher cannot get a look in at right back even though we are crying out for one in the wake of injuries to Matthews and Lustig, Liam Henderson cannot get a sniff, McGregor is being asked to carry far too much responsibility, and so on it goes.
Unthinkable at the beginning of the season, the league title is looking in jeopardy. Plc Boards are paid to make big decisions, and I think they have one to make now. Do they persevere with something that is not showing any true signs of progress, or do they cut and run now, leaving plenty of time for a new appointee to catch up in the league and identify what personnel changes will and can be made in January? If we limp on from now until mid-January hoping it will somehow get better, I fear the worst, in the Europa league, but more importantly in the SPFL.
It will be acutely embarrassing for Celtic to replace a management team after such a short period in charge, but infinitely less embarrassing to do it at a point where the league championship is all but lost to Dundee United or Aberdeen.
And before I am accused of going off a bit previous, does anybody think Jackie McNamara, Paul Hartley, or heck, even Derek MacInnes would be doing this badly?

Apologies for not responding sooner re Henrik from last post, i had to pop out for a while, on holiday. Eddie you asked on his record had a check and it is poor to say the least, sitting 2nd bottom at the moment with 5 to play. At the time of the speculation one thing always stuck with me was the chairman of the Swedish club saying that Henrik has promised that he will not leave us in mid season, even Larsson himself said the timing of the Celtic approach did not suit him. I agree with Bada and clink\o/ this would not be a football appointment, purely box office but unless RD shows a dramatic improvement, I believe it will happen.
