Ronny, this is your starting point

1151

Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

Hopefully we’ll be back to something more recognisable as a full squad on Wedenesday, including Wakasooooooo.

Blog on the go this week, email delays too.

    I wouldnt be too surprised if Tonev had been affected by the fact that his alleged racism has been given almost as much MSM coverage as the referendum.

    I hope that, too, but the danger is that the players AND us fans get so confused about what’s going on that we all lose trust.

    As the old saying goes: it’s a results business.

    On the one hand we need patience, but on the other there needs to be a clarity of vision, which is (so far) not apparent.

    I suggest that there must come a time when the manager realises that we don’t have a pool talented enough the chop and change on a scale and frequency he appears to prefer.

    Unless there are injury reasons for making 6 changes for an important tie, it’s too risky: I also suggest that the evidence so far backs this up …

    Correct…….this booing is over-the-top …..we’re supporters…..we’re supposed to ‘lift’ the team, FGS

    To my shame I said the same about Neil Lennon and he provided me with enough proof points early doors. Just shows what we know sometimes.

    Tamrabam

    Ronny inherited a host of issues from Neil’s last season that haven’t helped him. Decline was in place from a bad signing spree and a lack of youth / squad development. Cup defeats showed a lack of mental fortitude and our champions league foray was poor.

  9. Ronny Deila facts:

    * Ronny was the original bassist in Norwegian pop sensation A-ha. He left after a heated poppy debate led to an on-stage row with Morten Harket at the old Burns Howff.

    * Ronny was originally christened Finbar, but changed his name after being inspired by a Vimto advert.

    * Ron Weasley was loosely based on Ronny’s magical exploits at Stromsgodset. Ronny does have a pet rat called Scabbers, but the real-life rodent is not actually the famous Brummie actor Timothy Spall.

    * Ronny is a keen swimmer and his favourite ringtone is “When you’re not in the swim, you’re losing out!”

    * Ronny would do anything for love, but he won’t do that.

    * Fans of Stromsgodset nicknamed him “Super Ronny”, after he was exposed to synthetic kryptonite that caused him to go on a drunken, super-powered bender and straighten the Leaning Tower of Pisa. (thumbsup)

  13. Big Wavy

    see my comments about last seasons cups and while i agree that the CL performance wasnt the best, at least we qualified. The least said about Ronnys qualification efforts the better

    The best players so far this season are the existing inherited payers

    with the possible exception of the new goalie who saved our asses against Salzburg, when we looked seriously out of our depth in the EL (not the CL)

    I still haven’t even considered not winning this seasons Scottish league, because even a lame horse should win a one horse race.

    Who was all calling for Lennon’s head up to and beyond Killie 3-3 game?

    Was the Maribor result any worse than Brage or Utrecht?

    He is no more a dud than Jo Venglos was in the ten years before he took over at Celtic.

    This will be turned around.

    Momentum will be gained and maybe even a head of steam.

    All you doubters will be made to reconsider.

    Hopefully.

    Im not sure what Lennys record has got to do with Ronnys record

    I do agree that Lenny was 45 minutes away from being sacked too and probably got thru some very troubled times because of the way the Celtic fans supported him after the huns bombs bullets and bigotted boots campaign against him, however like i say, Lennys record is as irrelevant as Lou Macaris or Liam Bradys. I dont se what it has to do with Ronny being completely out of his depth.

    Aye, the huns will be back next season and the SFA will be getting them in pre-season for intensive ‘result management’ seminars.

    ~~~~~~~~~~++~~~~~~~~~~
    Frankly I doubt the SFA will be more welcoming than our own board will be.
    Sickens me.
    The careers at our club ruined by their cheating,the money stolen,the crimes-and let’s remember,laws were ignored,not just broken-the titles unfairly claimed.
    And our board canny wait to welcome them back.
    Anyone connected with our club who has not actively been trying to hammer the huns since Valentines Day 2012 should have no further involvement with us. He doesn’t represent the wishes of the vast majority of the support.
    And,bearing in mind that they are the nearest we will get to competition,,he obviously disnae understand the most important factor for the current regime.
  19. I logged on here to talk about the referendum or at least Sevco and all you lot can talk about is Celtic!!!
    Anyway serious question: Why don’t we have a reserve team? I know we don’t have a reserve league but why aren’t we organising games against other clubs to allow players to get in shape after injury, to give the young players the chance to play alongside experienced pros and, most importantly in the current situation, allow everyone time to get used to playing a new system with the pressure of competitive matches.
    The reserve league was abandoned due to cost issues with the smaller clubs but I feel we’ve lost an important development stage that is hindering us progressing players from under 19 to the 1st team.
    The matches maybe wouldn’t be as competitive as a league game but we would be able to schedule them when suited and give the manager plenty of opportunity to teach the fringe players his methods without having to make the wholesale changes we saw on Sunday.
    If we could arrange friendlies against decent reserve sides from down south it would at least pay for itself and their might even be some profit in it.
  20. Earlier in the season the manager blamed player’s fitness for poor results, now it is their leadership skills.
    Anyone see a trend ?
    Predictions on what may be next ?
  21. Paddy turner,
    Walking up and buying a ticket would only be a problem if it was a sell out. Which it won’t be. Celtic website says TO will be open right up till kick off.
    You’ll be fine.
  22. Tamrabam
    I’m just asking for a bit of balance. I’m deeply irritated by some of what I’m seeing from the new team but there are some mitigating circumstances.
    I loved Neil but he wasn’t faultless. He had a rough ride at the start as did WGS. We’ve no idea how Ronny will pan out but I’d like to see a settled side playing his system before deciding. Others have made their mind up but thrusting a Paul Hartley or Jackie Mac now would send us backwards.
    We are in need of modernising and I’d like to see us move into the 21st century as a club. That transition calls for patience. Not endless patience but equally not after two minutes in charge.
  23. BB
    Naw…..my daughter usually arranges any Cup tickets for me & Grandson……normally well in advance…..they are posted out to her, for us.
    She didn’t realise the game was on Wednesday, till I mentioned it this morning. It would be chancing it to try & get them posted.
    All I need to know……can you walk into the ticket office on the night & buy a ticket??
    so new managers need time
    how much time? The same amount of time as Tony Mowbray or the same amount of time as Lou Macari or the same amount of time as PLG as the ipox
    If you think he is doing well you can clap away all day until your heart is contented
    I will call it as i see it and so far he is a dud.
    If I see or hear another post about how he is going to have the players running faster and furiouser i will,…… Squeam and Squeam so ah will.
  25. “okay Geordie, thats me busted. you are right, we didn’t win any cups. Its all a pack of lies
    Steady on there tam.
    I merely pointed out we were beaten more than twice domestically.
    I also think it’s a bit naff that you have to mention one guys record in all competitions with another guys domestic record.
    And it’s probably been pointed out to you by now but lenny has also been papped out twice TWICE all be it slightly different circumstances.
  26. Clashcitybhoy
    Yep. It’s called change. To me he’s looking for more and better from other players beyond Kris Commons, Scott Brown and Craig Gordon for example.
    No different from what I heard when he lauded what Leigh Griffiths could be as the best finisher in the team. Some of the players are not seizing their chances.
    We do need to be fitter. We so need better athletes and we do need more leaders in all parts of he squad.
    I think it’s called psychology…
  27. Paddy,
    There’s a slight chance I might have a spare on Wednesday.
    It’ll be a late call but if you are waiting to weds night it hopefully shouldn’t be a prob for you.
