ROMANIAN referee Istvan Kovacs makes his Champions League debut tonight when he takes charge of Celtic’s crunch qualifier against Astana at Celtic Park.
The match official is only 31 years-old and the tie is the biggest in his career although he has presided over 10 Europa League fixtures.
Kovacs has plenty of experience in his domestic league having officiated in 182 top-flight matches.
After three games, only three Hoops players have been booked during the European campaign so far – skipper Scott Brown, Efe Ambrose and Leigh Griffiths.
