Russia and Ukraine set to merge leagues

784

In the most significant development towards the regionalisation of European leagues yet, Russian Premier League chief executive, Sergei Pryadkin, has announced plans to merge the Russian and Ukrainian leagues.  The plan has been driven by CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala, who have formed a foundation committee.

Russian clubs already deal with the rigours of playing across a vast geographical area, so adding a huge nation like Ukraine would present further challenges, but top sides from Russian and Ukraine know that if they are to become genuine top tier clubs they will need to play in as strong a league as possible.  The plan is likely to involve feeder national leagues working below the confederated league.

Uefa president Michel Platini has already given the green light to the regionalisation of leagues.  The most important question for Scottish football fans, is whether SPL clubs would like to feed into a confederated British league.

The hoary old claim that SPL clubs need Celtic and Rangers has been shown to be a complete falsehood this year.  SPL clubs didn’t need Rangers and they don’t need Celtic either – if only those running our game had the balls to ask fans their views on this matter they might reinvigorate our game, instead of managing inevitable decline.

We are not wanted or needed by fans of Motherwell, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Inverness, Aberdeen or Dundee United.  These clubs are competing in the best SPL ever with only one problem, a bloated club from Parkhead.

If Scottish football wants a way forward which will see a well-attended and competitive top league, ask the fans, do they need or want Celtic?  Do they want an opportunity to feed into a regional league?  Any reorganisation which fails to take the views of the paying customer into account will be a disgraceful failure.

Neg Anon – “TTTT – did you read my post earlier where I did say exactlt what the Board should do?”

Naw! Kindly enlighten me before I hit my scratcher!

BBC Scotland Sports department might have plenty of Tims working in it, but the editors & producers need Dettol and a wire scrubbing brush. We are paying these bastards wages and pensions FFS!

    I’ll bite.

I have a close friend, twice served in Afghanistan. Horrible time for him. Young English guy out of Uni and couldn’t get a job so signed up

I went to the games with him and a few friends from home (Belfast) I mentioned that I always feel a tad uneasy when troops are on the streets.

He took no offence, he said that he had a feeling that it would happen for a while, his view is that having seen thd trouble stirred up abroad take the lives of his young friends he would not be surprised if it was an excercise in letting us get used to military security as domestic counter terrorism.

What he did say was that he is troubled by those who blindly put the troops in the same place as the politicians that send them there I’ll equipped.

He is bitter about losing friends and how little it is cared for in planning wars and equipment.

My question is this, how do you marry such imperialism with Celtic?

How do you marry neoconservatism with the values of Celtic?

    I don’t get it.

  4. BSR- not one mention of MIB influence at the deffo penalties. One upside is that Craighun couldn’t complain about our players. Maybe the studio team thought that they were good calls. We’ll never know. Noticed St Mirren keeper checking if Broonie was OK. Ref was too busy racing up the park trying to get on the end of a cross! :-))

I agree, I thought we moved the ball well, we had several chances, with an honest Ref. we would have scored a few more. Comfortable is the worst description you could give the performance. As for St. Mirren, 6 across the back, 4 in front of them, occasionally 1 up front, deary me.

  6. Neg Anon–you could tell me the same stories? I don’t think so. And don’t try and get on a high horse with me. The way I portray myself here is exactly the way I am. I don’t tell lies. I don’t embellish. With all that, I don’t need a good memory. If you were from Belfast I would know you. There were very few republicans around when the war started. Any that were , were too busy spouting Marxism to see what was in front of their face. Early this year I was honoured to be expressly asked to do a concert/night for Billy McKee. His Guard of Honour–all night, were the Dogs. “D” co., 2nd Batt. You of course would be au fait with all of this, wouldn’t you? Your turning a wee bit Kojo.

Sorry, I didn’t realise exactly what you were commenting on.

First of all, it is Celtic not celtic ;) I wouldn’t normally be so pernickety but it has now been a few times lately you have Capitalised a few things in your comments but never Celtic.

How can you defeat a Government by overt means?

To keep you occupied check this website that I am loving lately.

  8. The only conclusion is that they missed out on any analysis because Murray’s performance was so blatant, they couldn’t wouldn’t cover it. Odd they had time to criticise CM as not being

    player of the year again.

You won, shut up, no analysis necessary jog on Timothy, you’ll win the league anyway because Deedco died.

  10. BSR- aye funny how they had time to put a Charlie piece together and ignore the cheatin bassas performance. How much coverage was given to a ‘disallowed’ goal midweek?

  11. OK just watched our extensive highlights. Of the penalty 5 incidents I reckon ALL were valid claims.

However, I think Kayal’s overreaction probably cost him his award.

Quite incredible to not get ANY of them. Can you imagine any other CL team playing at home against a wee team getting 0/5? Wouldn’t happen!

    And……no debate whatsoever! Joke!

Oh, and now we get a postmortem on the penalty at Pittodrie!

Still, away to bed with a smile. Just seen the SPL table. Lovely!

    Think I’ll wear my blue shirt tomorrow…even though it’s the colour of our rivals;

Kille, St Johnstone, ICT, and Dundee.

Hmmm…. Is that the lot? No wait i’ve forgotten one. Ah yes, Ross Co. Is that the lot now? I think there’s another one. Quick check of the SPL table. No, my mistake, that’s the lot!

I also thought the ball was over the line when Broony got injured, difficult to tell on tonight’s highlights.

Sportscene’s been a joke for years, Rob McLean is a very poor presenter and from some of the outstanding pundits with a real knowledge of the game up here, they continually pick that Craigan who gives Hateley a run for his money.

I was thinking they’re maybe trying to get the ratings so low to justify showing the zombies highlights….nothing would surprise me.

  15. Raymac – of course by your post you tell me I am lying while you arent. I never actually said anything but you took it by yourself to decide. You are the worst of all posters. Arrogant to the point of embarressment and unwilling to think about what others think.

So again – bloody grow up

  16. Neganon- you on the sauce?

Worst of all posters? You probably find Nutzoolas posts enlightening and non-confron!

  17. I had a wonderful lazy day today.

Kicked off with viewing yon World Club Champions soccerthing in Japan.

Oh, Mister Fernanado Torres, you shoulda scored with that point blank chance near the end.

In many ways Torres is EXACTLY the same player he ever was.

I used to watch him when he played at Athleti Madrid (or whatever they’re supposed to be called these days) and he played the same way as he played today. He has not moved on, he remains just a big raw talent who sometimes scores great goals.

But he misses stupidly easy chances too, something that’s intolerable at the highest level.

I like him but I suspect there was a good reason no big club came in for him as soon as he started banging them in for A.Madrid.

Liverpool took a chance and that paid off, a fluke I believe resulting in that daft transfer fee.

Wonder what’ll happen to him now that Rafa’s back, even just for a little while.

Been a decent day on here… We are all celtic …. Please swallow your egos bhoys and play nice tonight.

  19. Raymac That is some C.V. friend, Respect. We often team up with lads from the Ardoyne when we travel to Glasgow and they have come down to meet up with us in Clonmel. We went up to them too and had a great craic in the Kickhams Club. They arranged a special visit for us to the Maze, a real horror of a place and we got to visit the cell Bobby Sands died in. I have no doubt at all you would know them well but no names will be mentioned.

  20. Tax Case Result

    21/11/2012

The tax case result released yesterday afternoon was obviously a surprise. After reading the findings, it is still difficult to understand how two of the three judges arrived at such a decision. The third dissenting judge’s opinion was clearly more in line with expectations. However, in the First Tier Tribunal it is a case of majority rule.

If an appeal is launched, it will take several more months before we get the next level of decision. Appeals are not automatically granted, but in this case- with a dissenting judge and where a dispute over legal interpretation exists already- it seems certain. At the Upper Tribunal, new evidence is not introduced and the case is not re-argued. The judges at the Upper Tribunal will hear legal arguments over whether the First Tier Tribunal judges made an error in interpreting the law and will rule accordingly.

This blog brought light to a matter of public interest. This blog has been accurate on all of the major points of the case except the one that matters most to date- the FTT outcome.

We thank everyone who has participated. Hopefully, we will see the result reversed on appeal.

  21. Neg- I have. Can’t see anything to make you spit the dummy in the way you have. This isnae Synde you’re posting on!

  22. Pgalle – Gerrymandering of the celtic accounts – how long you been on this site? Celtic continually manufacture losses through exceptional provisionning (are you an accountant?

  23. NegAnon2

My comment was just to get you thinking deeper. If you think you can win against this system that has become the most unbelievable Police State, and it doesn’t matter if it is the SNP, Labour or Tories who are in control, then I think you are lost as the apparatus available now to governments is frightening, I don’t mean that in a bad way. You cannae win by fighting it in a physical sense.

    As ever HH m8ty.

  24. NegAnon, Do you know the meaning of Gerrymandering.

gerrymandering is a practice that attempts to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating geographic boundaries to create partisan or incumbent-protected districts. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander (/ˈɡɛrimændər/, alt. /ˈdʒɛriˌmændər/); however, that word can also refer to the process

  25. And f you did start your own blog, you wouldn’t be long in getting shut down….
