Schisms, corralling the message

926

Aberdeen are on the kind of downward spiral which is difficult to arrest, but there’s more going on that we know about publicly. I would be amazed if their recent run, four defeats and a draw in five games, after winning their opening eight league games, was all to do with matters on the park.

They are a team who look to be in schism. If so, Celtic Park is the perfect venue to pull together. You raise your game at Celtic Park in a way which isn’t likely in Dingwall. Whatever differences that exist will be set aside, we’ll need to be on our game to win.

Craig Whyte’s bankrupt, unable to pay Ticketus the £18m damages they won against him. Craig’s financial strength was plain for all to see, as he made regular trips north on Easyjet in his worn-out attire, owning up to the fact he couldn’t fund the bank repayment, until a clever knight put him onto Ticketus.

Charles Green was equally transparent. Relying on shares-for-backing deals with pliable ‘legends’. Now we have Dave King, overwhelmingly dependent on PR and a compliant media, while the rest of the world is sticking dates in the calendar. The most common question I’m asked these days is “When’s it going to happen?” It’s no longer a matter of “if” it’s going to happen.

The re-writing of history, evident today, will be rolled out again in due course. “We told you about him”, they will scream. Aye, sure you did. You also made it all possible, just as you did with Green, Whyte and Murray.

The trade in favours, exclusive stories, substances and team-handed loose-limbed 60 minute acquaintances, deployed to sustain the project and corral the message over the years is legend. Truly legend. Fraternity on this level takes more than money, a business lunch or a game of golf.  If that’s how you think the game is played, these guys will leave you standing.  Shed tears for none of them.

The books which will be written when the guilty are dead will sell millions.

Ghirls for Good

Ladies, sign up for this year’s Celtic Foundation Ghirls for Good Christmas lunch.  I’m told it’s a riot and one of the best days of the year at Celtic Park……  More here.

“Celtic have been unbelievably successful for many years and everyone wants to hurt us and find negative things and that is something this club has to cope with all the time.

“What is important is that this club sticks together, Celtic fans and those who work for Celtic, and we have to be proud of what we have achieved.

“Four titles in a row in the league, we won the League Cup last year, the club has been in Europe for many years and they are the pride of Scotland in Europe. So many positive things are happening around here.

“And whoever is coming out and saying things about Celtic to put pressure on us, it doesn’t affect me, but it motivates me a lot. Whatever other people are talking about, people who have never been at Celtic, I couldn’t care less.”

Deila had recently expressed a sense of injustice about the lack of praise for success at Celtic, while failures, he felt, are magnified, particularly compared to other clubs.

“Where are Rangers two now? They are in the Championship. When they lose against St Johnstone everything is OK even though they were utterly garbage. If that was 10 years ago, do you think it would be the same except for the penalties ?” he added.

“When we lose one game, everything turns around against us. We don’t use money we don’t have but when you build things you have to be patient. But we are winning at the same time as well.

“Negative things sell well – you get more clicks – but we need to focus on the positive things.

“We are in the semi-final, we’re going to play at Hampden, we’re going to play against Ajax and Fenerbahce and Molde in the Europa League.

“Where are the other Scottish teams? I don’t know. I haven’t seen them in Europe. The national team is not in Europe either – they didn’t go to the Euros and have been pish since Sir David Murray bought Rangers 1”

Isn´t it amazing how the Criminal bankers, the paedophile politicians etc. only get justice served after their death while the likes of those that died at Hillsborough had to wait nearly 30 years to get to the truth.

I knew that. It was an attempt at humour on my part iePretending I was not surprised that Ronny would say `pish` but I was that he would say ` Rangers`. Day job remains intact.

Don’t under any circumstances do the cotton bud up the nose thingy, unless you are looking for a cleansing of the eyes. It’s no very nice, believe me, even with green wax! I would post a pic of it if I knew how (maybe ask my son when I get home from work). Oops, yes still at work, for now.

  9. I just watched Ronnie’s interview on Celtic TV, he was fantastic, you could hear a pin drop as he let himself get into his flow and explain how he feels about our great club and what he is trying to achieve with us. I really enjoyed that.

    Hail Hail.

    Cease and Desist,

    Can anyone help me here.

Mike Ashley is basically telling Sevco that they cannot use the trademarks that belong to him.

    Can anyone confirm ?

    I.e the crest ?

    The actual strip ?

I presume that neither of these can be reproduced within the match program either ?

One penultimate question can he not do the same with media outlets

(i.e The BBC, STV, SKY , BT sports the Press etc) ?

Would that not be the smarter thing to do rather than alienate possible future customers ?

  11. I guess big Mike could do all of that if he wants. What would the fourth estate call them if he was to do that ?

    Hail Hail.

If the cease and desist is to be played out in court. It will have to be an English court. Is that possible ?

  15. Scott Brown out for tomorrow’s game. It’s so important he returns for Molde next week – the real player of the year 2014-15.

I take it Mulgrew is still injured? I thought Johansen (not my fav player) played well v Hearts, but Bitton had one of his worst games for a while. Those two haven’t combined well. The silver lining to Brown’s injury is that Johansen is less likely to play as no.10.

Anyone else not overly impressed with Simunovic? I know, I know – early days…

Key player for Aberdeen – Mulgrew. If he’s injured, it has to be… Commons.

  16. PS I liked Ronny’s rant. Was worried he might lose it, but he kept it together. I would love him to succeed, but….

    aarrgh!

    4-2-3-1, Ronny – WHY???

  17. UP_OVER_GOAL

I thought Simunovic was excellent against Dundee United but not as dominant against Hearts. What I do recognise is that he can make a good pass with either foot, has a terrific shot and is not afraid of the tough stuff.

Agree that Bitton hasn’t been at his best since returning injured from international duty. I think it won’t be long before he is at the top of his game again.

In the meantime Giff and Tom will sort out the opposition.
