Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

Worth bearing in mind how much time Obama spent in Indonesia in his youth-not saying that makes him one religion or another, but it is a strongly Moslem area.

Not that it matters, the only thing which should be of import is his ability.

And as modern politicians go,his record is by and large a good one.

    IMO.

That he has failed to live up to the hype which surrounded his elevation to the job has greatly been down to intransigent opposition.

I’d much rather have him than the alternatives.

  6. EDB–got on the blog yesterday and would like to add support to you at this sorrowful and difficult time. The good memories will prevail although it may not seem so.I will have a wee novena to Padre Pio for you tonight (I know he’s been canonised, but he’s always Padre Pio to me,as I owe him so much).I was at a funeral yesterday of a good friend, Eamonn O’Carroll, drummer with the Blackthorn band here in Belfast. The church in Lenadoon was full.Musicians who played with Blackthorn were ther providing the music. To give you an indication of how highly he was thought of,Mick Maloney of the Chieftains came all the way from Westport to play Easter Snow as a tribute, after Communion.I know from the response on here that your lovely wife will be thought of in the same way.May God be with you and bless you.

  7. Obama a Muslim? Perhaps, but only when he meets up with Elvis, Shergar and Lord Lucan. In fact, although he briefly attended a Muslim school, Obama also went to a Catholic school for several years when he lived in Indonesia (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2010/04/08/ST2010040805888.html?sid=ST2010040805888). I wonder if that made him a Celtic supporter?

I’m for the first amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. I’ve got nothing against people wanting to send their kids to religiously-based schools, but I don’t think that it is any business of the state to be actively funding religious (or most other) beliefs. Still, a personal opinion.

  13. We are working on the second book for CQN Books and I have just read the chapter written by Setting Free the Bears. It is about 5000 words long and covers a short period in Celtic’s unbroken 125 years of history. In fact it covers a very short period – 10 seconds to be precise. And it will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Just brilliant!

You may well be right about history’s view of Obama- we may not be around to find out! His religious beliefs, unlike many of his predecessors, seem to be pretty private. And that I do like about him. Sorry that I am joining in with these serious debates recently – that’s what happens when Celtic aren’t playing
