Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

Your the type I love getting in the taxi. after the game

The once or twice a season attender at Celtic Park

You can recognise them a mile off….,

standing on the Gallowgate an hour after the game aw puffy eyed and red faced blootered and showing aboot 10” of belly between the Dunnes Stores Jeans and Green and white top purchased off the looky looky men in Santa Ponsa the year before.Carrying five Celtic Superstore bags when they actually had 6 or 7 a few hours before and the inevitable tricolour flag that’s been trampled all over but will still be getting pride of place over the mantlepiece when they get home

Anyway they manage to flag doon the taxi when I suspect that they are sober enough to complete their 5 minute journey to the premier inn without become comatose

And this is why I love them… how do I turn that £5 fare into £15 fare….simple really just stick the Wolfies on the CD player and it works every time

  7. In the interests of keeping the CQN community abreast of the possible impact of suggested The Rangers SB sales on The Rangers business plans then:

chew over, scroll by, contribute or cynically comment on (I’m auld enough to handle it )

    the following offering from tsfm:

Here is how its looking with a prediction of 28,000 SBs sold.

It is a link to an amended spreadsheet/business case that assumes SB sales at 28,000 spread over full conscessionary and child but with an increase on match day sales from 9000 to 14000 to give an average attendance of 42000, a drop of 5000 on 2012/13 averages used previously.

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B62m3ggkEX2RNDcwNjZiZW5WSTQ/edit?usp=sharing

    The previous file is at

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq2m3ggkEX2RdGZLdlRpdEMtZ01lZFpOOFNESkNaYlE&usp=drive_web#gid=0

The bottom line difference between the two is a predicted red hole of £565,201 by the end of the coming season 2013/2014 (assuming expenditure has not been greater than that shown this season ended and the reserve from the share sale is still around the £12,860,414 shown at the end of this season) becomes a red hole of £1,137,757 by the end of next season.

The problem will be the unpredictability of match day income especially if there is no facility to borrow against it, but somebody might be happy to cover the gap taking a much longer term view that attendances will always be around 40,000 and they can get a return if that level is maintained.

What the SFA should know by now is the predicted Turnover and the actual wage figures and these should be being published on the SFA web site. (ITS IN THE RULES ) Somebody in the smsm should perhaps enquire and find out how far out the attached is. It should reassure supporters across the country to know the SFA have more reassuring and confirmed figures to work with.

  8. Mickbhoy1888, its a pity you demean the site by talking about taking advantage of fellow fans. Doing your profession no favours, particularly after the goodwill generated from the cash for kids trip to Ayr. I feel sorry for you if your twisted fun is to come on here and wind up fellow fans (if you are a celtic fan)what is causing the hatred have you had any treatment for these issues? I

  9. Well mickbhoy 1888 at 15.37, You are right about one thing, I’m closing on 66 now and its true that I don’t get over to as many matches as I used to. Re the drink, I am a very moderate drinker and would normally have a glass or two of red wine pre match, the pub I frequent when in Glasgow is the Scotia Bar and if I was overnighting in Glasgow I’d have 3 or 4 pints of Guinness there the evening after the game. I walk to and from the ground so I’m sorry I don’t fit into your stereotype of a guy pouring himself into a Taxi. The only colours I would sport would be a green & white scarf and whilst I could do with losing a half stone or so, I certainly don’t have a beer belly. Sorry to destroy the myth you seem to have built up and furthermore your wind ups don’t bother me in the least. I love the company of fellow Celts and have built strong bonds with many over the years. You are one that I have no empathy with whatever, I realise the feeling is mutual and that is fine with me.

  10. Don’t usually bother when I disagree with postsers views I just scroll on by everytime that person posts but Mickbhoy1888 you are no Celtic fan, never have been and never will be IMO

  15. Teg, On the face of it, I would agree that the guy is a Hun on the wind up. However a very reputable poster Tiny Tim knows this guy and he is a Celtic Supporter and goes to most matches home & away. Apparently he is a big lump of a guy and an ex cop to boot. Strange but true.

  19. corkcelt – why bother responding? He didn’t give his view of _you_, he knows nothing about you. In the absence of any specific personal knowledge he gave his default view of his typical Celtic supporter. And therein succinctly proving some deep-rooted loathing.

  21. Auldheid , thanks thats alot of work you have done there. I don’t feel the fans are the problem here, its the directors & their ridiculous bonuses for winning a league that Paul Hartley won with a budget of £200,000. Its madness, £2.5M plus manager & coaching staff probably another £1.25m take those out of the equation and the figures would stack up. They remind me of the Emperors new clothes. I think they have done well to get the crowds they have but any right minded ordinary fan would be cheesed off with the off field shenanigans. The cost base is too high and they are behaving like ostriches over the whole situation. Common sense would have cut everything to the bone and saved cash till the got to the spl. I would be surprised if they didn’t have to go back to the well of the fans because they are burning cash at an alarming rate. There may be doner fatigue as well as the corporate investors being once bitten twice shy, add the fact that any club they are going to buy players from wanting most of their cash if not all up front. All is not well for newco!

That’s what I love about this blog. You’re up aboot being informed at smithsonian or BBC and when you check onto the last page of CQN for 5 mins you read about how a tim gets his jollies as a taxi driver cheating his fellow tims outta £10. Just wonderful! There’s hope for humanity yet.

  26. Sonsof Erin, He did personalise it a bit by saying “Your the type”, I just responded to show that there is no “one type”. I know a lad who has spent tens of thousands going back & forth to Glasgow sometimes twice a week for the past 25 years and the lad is a tee-totaller. Would ex cop mickbhoy1888 rip him off anyway once he heard his accent.
