Scott Brown sat down

1251

You know what Dundee United really need?  Scott Brown to turn up at Hampden on Sunday with a point to prove. We’ve complained for years about the way media scrutiny falls haphazardly on Celtic but God help us if we ever acquire the cosy relationship others cultivate in order to avoid the light scrutiny required to keep them healthy.

Celtic players are allowed to drink before their day off (as is the manager).  Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules.

Had he not sat down this would never have been a story, even if he’d had an additional 10 drinks.  ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with.  Paying someone £100 for a photograph and spending 30 minutes writing about it has to be the cheapest cover in publishing history.  It doesn’t pass the ‘news’ test, it is celebrity gossip.

Pin it to the dressing room wall and he’ll be Man of the Match on Sunday, you can bank on it.

CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner is tonight!  Soooooooo excited.  See you there.

My two older brothers in their 60s, my two young nephews in their 20s are usually only at funerals & weddings, last night was a night to remember, every one of my company said “what an event to have a stag doo” apart from Paul67 & all the others who actually done the hard work, I was one of the proudest theire, Family, Friends, Celtic & CQN, Got in at 3.30am the young team took me too the dancing, the future Mrs stayed up for and I was gabbing a lot of nonsense to her till about 5am,in the words of the Maestro there is still a buzz about the place !

A great night, no, a fantastic night, no…awesome night, aye.

All that was asked was if you could afford it and had the time was come along and support a worthy cause.

To those of you who came along I cannot find the words adequate enough to thank you all.

Gerryfaethbrig, you my friend and your entourage were great company and I am glad that you all enjoyed it, a Stag Night with a difference. On the 4th April 2016 you will recall one of the most memorable days of your life, I mean your Wedding Day. That will stir memories of another memorable day…13th March 2015…:)

I know a WAG who was ultra intelligent, top degrees, never worked a day in her life, spent all her time pampering herself and making herself look good.

As for Archie (we must have cheats Sevco in top league) and Joe (all the Celtic fans are missing Rangers(sic)) Miller. No thanks.

I am going now but for myself best part of last night (apart from the whole night) when Four Green Fields was sung I went over to FGF who was so singing his wee heart out, and then it developed into a massive line of people, hope CQN photographer got that picture, again thanks to every single person there last night for making it unforgettable …..

  14. Just a wee quite post cos I can sense a few fragile heads around cqn this morning.

  15. Morning all.

Wee bit grey down here. Still, quite quiet. Nae wind or rain so far.

Reading back, felt myself saying that if we’re looking for someone to put on the Board who lives our ethos, then Lisa Hague seems to fit the bill and then some. Hope she and her other half are still part of the fabric at Celtic Park when Kris’ playing days are over.

Father Sweeny was and is a breath of fresh air. When he was at St Bridget’s in Baillieston he used to come to our house on a regular basis for his dinner. Last year when my Mother was ill we reminisced about the evening I met FS outside our house when I was coming home from school. I used to sneak in to the kitchen and grab wee Biddy by the waist and she would always give me a nuclear verbal. A wee feisty woman from Donegal she new every verbal insult in the book but was always a paragon of virtue in front of the priest. Anyway one evening FS and I who met at the door both sneak into the kitchen and my wee Ma is peeling the tatties without a care in the world. FS who has been briefed on the mission shuffles forward undetected and grabs Bridged by the waist. Even I got a fright as she swung round with the tattie peeling knife and unloaded her Donegal gob machine gun with every possible explicit that you would deem to be profanity in the direction of the Father. He just burst out laughing as did I as wee Biddy tried to catch all her words as they launched themselves in his direction. My mother and I laughed and laughed at the memory of that evening last year on what turned out to be the last evening we spent together. Father Sweeny is one special guy and was a great source of inspiration to me and a great friend to my Family. My Mother always smiled when his name was mentioned. I am glad he was a part of a son and mothers last night together.

Gerry so glad you and your gang had a great night, I got a couple of pics but they are really dark will put them in the FB page.

Disappointed reading to read gripes about cost/invites reaching out..etc! Last night was built on the very ethos of our club, to raise money to build kitchens to feed the poor and hungry!!

I totally understand £50 is a lot of money, instead of sitting moaning why not get up off your backside arrange another night, cheaper venue, cheaper tickets, cheaper entertainment etc …

Off to drag HT round Edinburgh for the day … Any tips for the horses before I go?

  19. Top of the morning to you all from a grey Dunfermline Toun.

Kenny Sheils’ article in today’s Mail would suggest that we have another Dougie Dougie in our ranks.

Does this mean that young Dallas is a liar? Surely shome mishtake!

Scottish Daily Mail, Saturday, 14th March 2015

IT remains the pinnacle of a lifetime’s work spent at the game’s coalface. Yet, for Kenny Shiels, separating Kilmarnock’s famous League Cup Final win over Celtic in 2012 from his unseemly exit from Rugby Park a year later will always be an onerous task.

Already a hero among Killie fans for his forthright views and preferred style of play, that one-goal victory over Neil Lennon’s side at Hampden ought to have cemented his position at the club for as long as he cared to choose.

Just 14 months later, however, he was gone. A failure to finish in the top-eight was trotted out as the club’s party line but the suspicion lingered that Shiels’ increasingly frequent visits to Hampden on disciplinary matters were making chairman Michael Johnston hot under his SFA collar.

‘Still to this day, I’m unhappy about it,’ said Shiels, now head of coaching at Forth Valley Football Academy.

‘Getting rid of me wasn’t going to benefit Kilmarnock in any way. Why would you get rid of someone who was building a long-term programme for the club? What were the motives? I just don’t know

It’s a myth that I was getting the club into trouble. Three of my offences that season related to one incident — the sending off of my captain after three minutes at St Johnstone.

‘We had video evidence that disproved the three charges. It disproved everything that Andrew Dallas (the fourth official) had said. Still I was done.

‘I should have taken my medicine. Instead, I came out and said that he had fabricated evidence. I know I shouldn’t have said that and I got two more games for that. That was the worst thing I could have done.

‘Because of that, I’ve now got this reputation which I don’t like. I had something in place at Kilmarnock which would be just about bearing fruit now had I stayed there. The club still means a lot to me and what happened still hurts.’

For those adhering to the line that his contract was terminated purely because matters on the field were on the slide, Shiels has a compelling counter-argument.

‘It was a transitional period after that,’ he explained. ‘I had nine youths playing in the first team.

‘I did what Hearts did last season and what Falkirk did previously. I wanted there to be a pathway for young players to get through. And it was working. We sold four experienced players in January and replaced them with kids.

  23. Here comes the FFin’ Blue Party:

“is it time to found the Blue Party?

We cannot drive the mhedia agenda the way things are. We all know how pervasive ‘their’ influence is in so many key areas of Scottish society right now. We are banging our heads against a wall in trying to push the mhedia to give us a level playing field.

Is it time we Scottish unionists funded some Blues Party candidates at the upcoming elections? The Scottish elections would be best because of the PR element. If the Greens can get MSPs, surely the Blues could do too?

Policies would include an end to separate schools, investigation of shady deals by local authorities, bias in the mhedia, biased laws recently enacted, and an end to the independence debate.

With an army of potential electioneers, surely we could win seats in strong unionist constituencies?

Holyrood is a parliament designed to be ‘hung’. It wouldn’t take but a few MSPs to have significant influence.”

    ——

“A bear of good standing should put himself forward in Govan on a justice for [Sevco] platform.

We need to know who RTC was and how he came by his information.

We need a full public enquiry into what went on.

Administration process, five way agreement, Craig Whyte takeover. The lot.”

    ——

“The [Sevco] support is guilty of a shocking abandonment of Scottish society in recent years, allowing the warped individuals who hate our club to set the agenda.”

    ——

“We do not need a new party, we need to vote “PROTESTANT” find out what religion the candidates standing in your constituency are and vote accordingly, doesn’t matter which party, just vote PROTESTANT!!”

    ——

“How do we find out their religion – not the old Irish sounding name thing.”

    ——

“Its infiltration that’s needed. We need to abandon Tory, unionist etc and join the labour party, snp etc and make the change from within”

    ——

“This is exactly what needs to happen, it’s what they have done over the past 30 years or so and look where they are now.”
