Scott Brown sat down

1251

You know what Dundee United really need?  Scott Brown to turn up at Hampden on Sunday with a point to prove. We’ve complained for years about the way media scrutiny falls haphazardly on Celtic but God help us if we ever acquire the cosy relationship others cultivate in order to avoid the light scrutiny required to keep them healthy.

Celtic players are allowed to drink before their day off (as is the manager).  Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules.

Had he not sat down this would never have been a story, even if he’d had an additional 10 drinks.  ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with.  Paying someone £100 for a photograph and spending 30 minutes writing about it has to be the cheapest cover in publishing history.  It doesn’t pass the ‘news’ test, it is celebrity gossip.

Pin it to the dressing room wall and he’ll be Man of the Match on Sunday, you can bank on it.

CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner is tonight!  Soooooooo excited.  See you there.

Ditto. Pleasure. Was thinking when talking to you about how cool it must be to have your Son sitting next you for a pint (though maybe Sons don’t think so!!)

Nail on head there, times when they could see you far enough, meeting the other son tomorrow for a few beers which will hopefully be followed with a few more in celebration

  7. Just about fell off my chair there. I just read that Sevco felt that Chris Graham should go because he might not pass the fit and proper person test of the SFA.

    Absolutely hilarious.

I can just imagine that conversation between Chris Graham and Dave King.

It’s a close run contest that one. Just who fails the FPP to the greatest degree?

My money is on the King.

  8. Oh what a night!

Thanks to everyone of you who attended CQN 11 and to everyone else who supported the event by buying virtual tickets or raffle tickets.

The virtual ticket goodie bags are all on their way to you so should arrive at the start of the week. The ones going to Canada, USA and Australia will take a little longer.

If you still want to contribute we haven’t drawn the raffle yet so you still have time to get a ticket or two from http://www.cqnbookstore.com – every penny to CQN Malawi fund.

We’ll draw the raffle on Sunday evening at say 10pm and get the prizes out on Monday.

Pat Bonner called Joe Miller to say he wasn’t coming. Nice.

If you’re at a match and see Geo – the CQN photographer – give him a shout and he’ll give you a wee wave! He goes to just about every game for us and his pics are fantastic. He was there at CQN 11 last night.

He was also with Scott Brown earlier in the week and was saying how remarkable it was that our captain’s hair had grown so much in less than 24 hours. As we drove to CQN 11 Keevins was on the radio talking the biggest load of nonsense about the Sit Down and reckoned he’d checked out the Sun pics and they were definitely from Wednesday evening.

    Geo thinks otherwise. Just saying.

Anyway even if the pics were from Wednesday – the real question is why this is deemed to be a front page story. Did the Sit Down take the racist Rangers Director story off the front page?

Plenty of Celtic news every day at http://www.cqnmagazine.com – three stories up today, which given last night, wasn’t the easiest task! The number of supporters reading this new site is really encouraging and when it merges very shortly with the blog, we think it will go even higher.

The print based papers are in decline but are strengthening online. We want to deny them this space as it relates to Celtic. They will bring their anti Celtic agenda with them, we’ll always be pro-Celtic.

Lastly -That Sunday Herald ad remains a remarkable thing.

A CQN’er managed to get the original printing plate for the ad from the Herald and got it framed. Two CQn’ers were locked in au auction battle for it last night with the winner paying £500. He then went up to the CQN’er he outbid and presented it to him and now he is planning on putting it into the CQN Golf Day in the summer to re-auction to raise even more more for charity. That sort of sums up CQN for me.

Brilliant night, wonderful people, a blog like no other.

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jimmci, thanks for posting the link about the round of applause in the third minute of tomorrow’s game. I found out about it yesterday morning and mentioned it to a Dundde Utd fan in work, yesterday. He knew nothing about it.

My mum has suffered dementia for the past seven years. I hope we as a support join in the applause tomorrow in support of a well desrving cause. Frank Kopel was a very loyal servant to United. As an aside, I’m sure he has a European Cup winners medal as he was in Man U’s squad at the 1968 final.

Brogan, my dad was brought up in Knigthswood, just at the junction of Great Western Road and Lincoln Avenue.

When the Clydebank Blitz started some bombs landed around Knightswood Cross and along the Boulevard.

My granny told my dad he was going to be evacuated. He thought he would be sent to Ayr or somewhere like that. He ended up staying with some of my grandparents’ families in Johnstone. He wasn’t happy.

    Yes that’s right.

Gary Mackay-Steven was coming but was unwell yesterday so Stuart Armstrong agreed to come along as a replacement so as not to let anyone down.

I was talking to him about the second goal against Inter Milan – which me and my boy had a perfect view of directly behind the goal. It looked like Armstrong’s goal and we were surprised that it was given as an OG.

Anyway Stuart was saying he thought it was his goal too. He was too modest to claim it though! An impressive young man.

    Morning (my time) lads,

Hope you all had a great time at the do last night. sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Given my recent conversations with a few of you about sam cooke, I know there are a few fans of soul music on here ….. in case you haven’t heard this young american kid, leon bridges, he’s pretty awesome ….

    here’s a sample ….

and for those of you who are still nursing a sore head, I’ve turned the sound down a bit.

And I’m thinking 3-1 for the goods guys tomorrow. This SJ will run riot on the big pitch. And if JG starts, I think he will score a few, and show why he was so highly rated before his illness.

  16. Winning Captains.

Thanks for a very uplifting evening. It was good to reminded what was achieved from last year’s event.

As someone who worked in the overseas relief area I was reminded why the work is so important.

Got my table ok. Amazed at how you managed to get strangers with same surname ( even if spelling slightly different) at the same table.

I hope my neighbour enjoyed the blether as much as I did.
