Scott Brown sat down

1251

You know what Dundee United really need?  Scott Brown to turn up at Hampden on Sunday with a point to prove. We’ve complained for years about the way media scrutiny falls haphazardly on Celtic but God help us if we ever acquire the cosy relationship others cultivate in order to avoid the light scrutiny required to keep them healthy.

Celtic players are allowed to drink before their day off (as is the manager).  Scott didn’t punch anyone, didn’t threaten anyone, didn’t drive under the influence, didn’t speak inappropriately and didn’t break club rules.

Had he not sat down this would never have been a story, even if he’d had an additional 10 drinks.  ‘Scott Brown sat down’ is the story – and that’s the worst they can come up with.  Paying someone £100 for a photograph and spending 30 minutes writing about it has to be the cheapest cover in publishing history.  It doesn’t pass the ‘news’ test, it is celebrity gossip.

Pin it to the dressing room wall and he’ll be Man of the Match on Sunday, you can bank on it.

CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner is tonight!  Soooooooo excited.  See you there.

  5. Supporters like the…CQN-snobs…have made the Celtic of today

a ‘plastic’ version of the one roared on by the Jungle…thats why

the Celtic custodians and, the Scottish establishment know fine

well that, the Celtic fans of today…represent no more than…punchbag-fodder.

The polis have always been basturts to the Celtic fans but, can ye

imagine them trying their kettling gig in the days of the Jungle?….nah

me neither…this post isny meant to have a go at the Celtic support of

today but, an attempt to convey an accurate picture of the evolusion

that has taken place since…Souness/Murray/Thatcher capitalised not

only football but, society in general…imho

Paul67 – CQN is a wonderful place but, folk like me…are necessary or, your

blog…wonderful though it is…will amount to no more than The Celtic View

on line. Now, I know that ye were going to guillotine me the other week for

my ‘comments’ about the RC Church and, I understand that…but, what a

re-action from posters on the blog when I made the comments…which I stand

by btw, or I wouldn’t have made them…only one poster out of dozens…asked if

    I had been personally affected by…what I was commenting about…maybe it’s coz

it was ‘me’ who made the points…who knows but, what I detected was ‘unhealthy’

    to say the least…denial / distortion / cover-up…it was all there…yeah…CQN’s mask

had slipped to an alarming degree…I know that CQN is not the place for such debates

but, on that occasoin…balance was a non-starter…disappointingly so.

Anyway….keep doing the guid stuff but, there is a danger there as well coz…some of

your flocks ego’s make benevolence a falsehood.

    ……………oot.

    An interesting post.

You might, of course, be correct in the basis of what you say. Also, your recollection of the days of The Jungle might not be accurate.

Try to at least consider that and take a more reasoned approach in your comparison of Then and Now.

Your style takes its toll and even those who groan when they see another Kev Special would not like to see you suffer emotionally because of your love of the Good Old Days.

All the Best and cheerio for now.

    Nah, definitely not.

Don’t begrudge other Celtic supporters whom have worked hard and done well for themselves and their families.

    Credit to them.

Lost an uncle in the blitz at that time.

My grandfather and 2 of my uncles went up to Clydebank, and dug his body out of the rubble, and brought him back down the Clyde to bury him.

  19. I was wondering how the Stag Do bhoys got on. Delighted to hear that it went so well for them. A brilliant idea to have it at CQN11. Any crowd of lads can head off somewhere and get pished but to go to an event like that, have a great time and support a great Charity showed class. Gerry you can tell your intended that she chose well, when she chose you and if she doesn’t believe you, tell her corkcelt said so.

  20. Topkat where in Coatbridge is the family st Patricks day. I have a 2 year old. What’s there for him

  21. Good posts about CQN11 last night.

A wee word of praise for Phil Agnew’s light touch in compering the night. The 4 Celtic ex-players were good value in their answers about their Celtic careers. Archie was sensational, as usual, in his recollections of Jock and is a voice worth listening to. Paul67 kept it short and Lisa Hague was a force of nature.

A worthy bit of recognition for Lennybhoy and all the unsung work he does.

Lots of generosity on display and lots of friendship and craic. BSR’s guest badge provided a good laugh.

Anybody can set up an event using CQN as a message board- BMCUW and others have done it several times. You can charge what you like from £0 (plus drink money) to the £50 of last night up to the heady heights of a player testimonial dinner. So long as you are doing it for a good cause and with a good heart it is worthy of praise and does not deserve to be sniped at.

    Here’s to whatever happens next.

I’m off to the Gorbals for the fives.
