Scouted, background checked and experienced, Ajeti should succeed

872

Negotiations for Albian Ajeti have gone on for weeks but as you and I have said often enough, it is important to get your first choice.  Too often we end up with a player from well down the list, who did not do enough to overwhelmingly convince anyone.  That is not the case with Ablian.

The player was scouted for a move last year before his ill-fated time in London.  He is known to the manager, who will have sounded out Mohamed Elyounoussi for an assurance on things that are not evident from the stands.

Having played over 170 games, he is also more experienced than many we have signed over the last decade.  This is why we missed out on him a year ago, he was caught on the EPL radars and West Ham made what was for them a cheap acquisition.

These factors make Albian’s prospect of succeeding at Celtic higher than most recruits.  It is a pity he will not have some game time this weekend; let’s hope he is fit for this month’s challenges.

  1. Norrie …I totally agree…. The Celtic PLC under PL and the Bankier boy have sold out our support….

The SFA and SPFL know they can do what the like to us without any comeback from our board …

We had our chance and blew it big time…. We sold the RES 12 guys out… they gave PL the silver bullet he asked for and He Shat it and sold us out….NOW he is paying the Price….

There was no talk of sanctions citations for the Aberdeen 8 until the Bolingoli escapade…Now they are making up. rules on the HOOF….

If COVID protocols have been breached then ALL breaches MUST be sanctioned RANGERS HIBS and MOTHERWELL…No Cherrypicking…

Come on PETER LAWELL grow a pair and for ONCE stand up for US…. against this corruption…

  2. Why is it every time Celtic make a signing ,this rotten media go and search for ex football players who will

say nothing positive about players coming to Celtic, the latest being Charlie Adam ,that’s right lard arse one off the many overweight and overrated players slagging off another professional player, anyway this blog for some reason seems to cater to these people, time it was stopped ,listening to Clyde there honestly I turned it off I’ll not make any comments, but if any Celtic supporters were listening ,they will know what I mean.

  4. No Mean City was a book I read and read over again many times growing up.

I had never searched out where the title comes from, however, came across this today.

Kingston Halls & Library. Designed by Robert William Horn of the City Engineer’s Department, it was opened on 8th September 1904 by Lord Provost Sir John Ure Primrose who declared that “We are citizens of no mean city”. Kingston was the first Carnegie-funded library in the city.

    and the real one

No Mean City is a 1935 novel by H. Kingsley Long, a journalist, and Alexander McArthur, an unemployed worker. It is an account of life in the Gorbals, a run-down slum district of Glasgow (now mostly demolished, but re-built in a contemporary style) with the hard men and the razor gangs.

Whatever its literary or other merits, for many years it was regarded as the definitive account of life in Glasgow, and its title became a byword. It originated from a set of conversations sent to Longman’s publishing firm from McArthur which was then sent to Kingsley Long to build into a complete novel.

Its title is a quotation from the Bible, where Paul the Apostle says that he is a citizen of Tarsus, which is “no mean city”, i.e. no obscure or insignificant city.

This tale of Glasgow gang lands is set in the inter-war period (1920s) and is a depiction of working class life for young and old, male and female and gives insight into both the private and public issues faced by the dwellers of the city.[1]

The title is also the name of a song written by Mike Moran and sung by Maggie Bell used as the theme music for the STV detective drama series Taggart.

A fabulous Kodachrome shot of the corner of Hope and Sauchiehall Streets, June 19th 1961. The “Majestic Dancing” sign advertises the then 3 year old Majestic Ballroom which started life as the New Savoy music hall in 1911, becoming a cinema 5 years later

  6. Hi everyone lurked for years but feel this is the right time to post. I strongly feel that if Celtic weakly accept this charge from the corrupt football authorities then its TIME up for this board. I know Celtic quick news is not read by all Celtic fans but i urge all fans that do to tell their friends to bombard Celtic park with emails or phone calls expressing their disgust at the perceived lack of BALLS from this board

  7. Is that Peter Martin not an embarrassing presenter,The football show is a joke ,and lard arse is on it ,as for Martin another one that’s put the boot into Celtic over the years.

  8. The bigger picture re Covid should be that everyone screws the nut…..personal responsibility paramount and all that.

Fitba’s a useful and convenient target especially when The Nippy Sweetie is up against it.

I think the Club “sanctions” mood music is simple grandstanding. Legally untenable.

Could be wrong ,but I’d bet the Club will simply bat back any guff aboooot retrospektive sanctions especially if the huns are left oooot.

    HH.

  9. My friends in Celtic,

As much as I hate it, I think we have no moral highground to fight any sanctions.

We have broken the rules and been called out for it in a high profile manner.

Society will back the SFA and SPFL, strongly supported by the Scottish government including many Celtic supporters.

We have lost this issue, lets deal with it and move on.

    HH to all

You posted regarding !Morelos and his transfer value being more than £5m. I read The Sunday Times Scotland earlier in the week. Douglas Alexander has penned sox articles in the edition. Here’s an example of the out and out hunnery that we are up against. In an article of 6 paragraphs headed “ Bologna Close In On Hickey And Morelos”, the first 5 paragraphs are all about Aaron Hickey but the writer uses the article to prolong the tiresome narrative that there are a host of clubs chasing Morelos. Douglas Alexander wrote,” It is believed that Mihaijlovic also believes himself to be the man to sort out Alfredo Morelos’ disciplinary issues. The Rangers striker is an £18million target for Bologna, after another Italian suitor, Ringo Gattuso’s Napoli, apparently cooled their interest.

French Ligue 1 side Lille have been leading the chase but failed with an opening £16.25million bid.”

Elsewhere, he talks about Odsonne and possible transfer to other clubs. In, “Brighton join battle to sign £30mi Edouard”, he writes, ‘Edouard has two years left on the four-year contract he agreed when signing for Celtic permanently from Paris Saint German for a REPORTED (my emphasis) record £9million fee in 2018.’

In another article he writes about former players Van Dijk, Dembele and Tierney and their transfers and sell-on fees. Talking of Odsonne, again he writes, “Rodgers did not blink when signing a raw Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain for a REPORTED (my emphasis) £9m, a record for Celtic, two years ago because he was completely convinced of his potential.”

In his other reports, transfer fees are definite and not REPORTED. His figure regarding Lille and Morelos is definite and not REPORTED.

£16.25m rejected by Rangers who does he think he’s kidding.

There’s a desperation among a lot of the support for news of signings and a lot of the parasitic elements of the media feed on this. Just make something up / add 2+2 to make 5. As long as the clicks and pennies roll in .

All well here , hope you and yours are too.

  13. Sevco broke the rules on having results from covid tests prior to a game, sanction by the SFA all clubs have to test twice a week, this was confirmed to me yesterday by aan aide to my MSP, Aberdeen Celtic employees break the rules, sanction their games are cancelled and SPFL and SFA charges brought and the Celtic player receive a fixed penalty from the Police. Work that out for decision making.

  14. GREENPINATA

Sanctions would be a disgrace. This whole thing is politically motivated, not COVID-19 related otherwise why were Kilmarnock players who were in close contact with Bolingoli not also prevented from playing?

Celtic broke no rules, others have in terms of Covid-19 testing protocols, especially “Rangers” who played a friendly with nine players not cleared to play as their tests were not back yet, that is a clear breach.
