Scouting and international breaks

276

Not all managers regard it as necessary to personally watch a player before signing him. Some are satisfied to trust their scouts, stats and video evidence.

That’s through necessity, though.  What chance of you of watching a late addition to your wanted list in the dying weeks of a window?  They would all prefer to see the player in person.

With two games a week, that is often impossible. This issue lead Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan to over rely on players they came up against in the SPL.

International breaks are, therefore, an oasis of opportunity.  This is when a manager can travel half the globe watching football, assessing multiple targets.

Ange Postecoglou now has free midweeks but he has used the February and March breaks to get ahead of the curve. Let’s hope wisely.

Why don’t you do everyone a favour and ban / out yourself.

You are a troll — you live underneath a bride and talk tripe.

You moan about politics but never explain what you do support.

Nothing about your voting history or what political party you engage with.

Troll = moans about politics but doesn’t vote.

    vs

Self indulgent erse wipe = moans about politicians but doesn’t vote.

  2. Mitchy .

    Thanks Mitchy.

Always remember that ticket is available where you can give me a big hug and have a laugh bout Celtic.

    You won’t

You just want to stay and bark your nonsense.

Sad,as at times you have lucid intervals

But it always ends in you showing how insecure you are by posting.

You are weighed down by envy,

No need to be false and angry.that just reads funny.

Aff out,but remember the ticket is there for you .

    You have a good day.

What we need are more posters telling us how we should think and where we’re going wrong …simples .

It’s always quiet during the break for internationals . i’m sure it will pick up when Rangers pump us on Sunday

    😊😎

  4. The state of the SPL and outside influences.

Cloak and dagger stuff regarding the MIB for Sunday’s game.

Are they in any way linked?

Local influence on the SPL — Ludge MIB / TFOD2.1 Media Booster club.

Chapter and verse on this — all the way back to the 1970 SCF.

    Consequently well known.

Outside influences on the SPL — to me less well known but worth a watching.

The SPL vs UK bookies — lots of EPL punters include SPL games to pad out their accumulators / fancy bets.

“Strange” results in the SPL — us and them — make a lot of money for UK bookies.

The SPL and betting — the focus seems to be on players personal bets.

I think we should be a bit more expansive / vigilant.

Possibly we are being that more expansive.

Then you have the international element — huge betting markets in the known big betting markets where everything is in play and up for grabs.

The cat and mouse game regarding who would ref the game on Sunday suggests that the SPL / SFA know that there are interesting elements out there trying to work every angle on the result and steps need to be taken to try and keep their — outsider / international — influence to a minimum.

For the record I think that the EPL is being played out to order at times.

The ups and downs of performance levels is now heading for ridicule.

Some poor performances are so bad that they look choreographed.

I will leave it there — I have run out of tin foil.

Still no talk about your politics / beliefs / voting pattern?

Consequently enjoy your time below that bridge.

I might make it to P/head this season yet.

So keep a ticket spare just in case.

  6. The business giant that is PL — strikes again.

Seemingly we had a choice in 2020 between VB and JH for the GK jersey.

We picked VB because he had sell on value.

And the rest they say is tragedy followed by farce.

  7. Tom McLaughlin on

    MADMITCH

So Celtic had the choice of a young Greek international for £5.6m or a free agent in the twighlight of his career and, with that wonderful thing called hindsight, PL gets it in the neck for going for the more expensive option.

But the expensive option was pure greed because, wait for it . . . he had a sell-on clause.

PL is long gone. Let it go.

  8. TMcL @ 11.32

No hindsight required — PL being PL is not good for the club.

He has a string of failures / mistakes / mis-steps as long as your arm.

What do you expect when you give a second rate bean counter responsibilities well above his capabilities?

If we made the decision in 2020 why didn’t we repeat it in 2021 — and chase JH?

Maybe because we had people of ability in place rather than the Chuckle Brothers of 2020 vintage?

I think that would be a good place to start.

Finally PL is long gone — you are having a laugh …

He is on the way back and we should all be worried.
