Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible

985

I know what you are worried about after last night’s Scotland performance, “He’s going to throw James Forrest in now.”  My feeling on the matter is that James, Callum and Kieran all need to ‘work on their fitness’ a bit.

Since managing Scotland for a few months in 2007, a period that included a 0-1 win in Paris, Alex McLeish has been found out in five subsequent appointments, ending ignominiously in North Africa.  He has the look of what he is, a man earning enough to make good on a tax bill that recently came his way, and nothing else.  Nice gig if you can get it.  He also selects players who are banned for life from the national team.

Scotland have the players to beat the 94th team in the world but were not sufficiently competent to fix up a manager who already lives in the country but manages in Belfast, or conduct an adequate search for an alternative.

The result of this, is that fans stopped caring, as do many players, by the look of it.  I don’t know a single person who was upset last night, the Scotland international football fascination is over.  The once great endeavour of football as a self-contained unit in Scotland is over, everybody knows it.  Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible, please.

    Nothing to do with football.

I live in a country which has voted to leave the EU, in part, to stop EU nationals coming here.

I live in a country where an EU national died saving the life of a stranger by attacking a terrorist with only what he had in his hand – a skateboard.

I live in a country where a UK policeman saw another UK policeman being murdered by a terrorist …… and drove away.

    Depressing.

  2. RP MCMURPHY-good stuff, but what about the boss and billy Joel?

That must bring GORDYBHOY 64 on??

  3. Fairhill bhoy. Yes both also fantastic. A song from each of them make it into my top 10.

    You’ve made me use my 2 2018 posts ?

King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Thin Lizzy, Feargal Sharkey, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, 10CC, Supertramp, Roxy Music, Status Quo, Mott the Hoople, Deep Purple. That’s enough for now… Trust you are well. HH

I don’t think I did say that I “knew” it was the manager’s fault.

I admitted that I had no inside knowledge and that, therefore , the source of this cock-up could have been either one of them or a combination of both.

You are right that, for it to be BR’s fault, he would have to be behaving very vindictively towards Arzani as a means of punishing someone else. And you are right that that does not look like BR’s way of working.

Whatever the source of the blame is or isn’t, the boy Arzani now has a problem with his career stalling here. Our solution is the same- if he is not going to play- be fair to the boy and let him go back to City and try his luck elsewhere.

  6. Thx Jim, I’ve been on here since the early days & prefer to hear other people’s opinions. More of a listener I guess.

    Jeez, that’s 3 posts in 1 night. ?

  7. Back to Basics, You sound despondent. Those are terrible issues. But there heroes out there everyday. In this country and abroad. Many, many immigrants have done wonderful things for our country. Many, many of our countrypersons do wonderful things for people abroad.

Listen to this, it might not ‘cheer you up’ but it might give you hope. Even if you don’t believe in Jesus, think of a hero. The words should still mean the same.

“MACJAY1-don’t you start assuming, that gets sftb aw bandy like:-))”

I am sighing for all those wasted words that did not make my position clear.

I will try to break it down succinctly

    1) I have no problem with peple making assumptions. I do it all the time. You do it. Everybody does it. We cannot deal with facts alone, all the time because few of us know all the facts.

    2) I do have problems with those that fail to separate their assumptions from the facts and mistake their assumptions for established truth.

It is the difference between saying ” It could be this (whatever this is) and we should take that into account before concluding otherwise” and saying “It could be this and, therefore, we know it must be this”. I think Macjay was doing the former and not the latter.

    3) I stated already that we all can and should use phrases like IMO , IMHO, or “it seems to me” to preface our guesses and assumptions. That helps the reader know you have an open mind. But when you use “it seems” or “It seems , and my mates agree with me..” and you then state an assumption as fact, then you are trying to smuggle an assumption in as a proven.

Hope that clarifies it, but sometimes I think I am not dealing with ears that are open.

  9. GORDYBHOY 64-I’ll take that derogatory crap from you mate?

Hopefully things getting easier for you and family mate.

  10. The Late Late show from London was a huge disappointment for me. I hoped it would be an uplifting show promoting the contribution of the Irish community to life in Britain.

Some great guests but disappointing in its overall presentation. For me, the highlight was the musical contribution at the end.

Be interesting to read other people’s views.

    Delaneys ,

knew about those bands but had never heard them until later on .

Then came punk , wow ! Saw all the main punk bands over the yrs and had the

privilege to see the clash do white man at the Apollo , best venue ever for a gig .

Saw plenty great acts over the years , but punk for me still the best especially the

the stranglers……… no more heroes anymore. ………

    ——————————————————————————-

Stranglers at The Apollo – awesome.

At the front of the Stalls, band playing “Sweden”, I looked back to find my cousin and could see the upper tier/circle swaying from side-to-side as people jumped about mental. Wasn’t surprised when it had to be knocked down a while later.

Can’t remember if it was that gig or another when they invited anyone from the audience to get up on the stage as they played Nice ‘n’ Sleazy. Lot of young ladies got up – you can imagine the rest…

“SFTB-and maybe your getting personal again”

    And, maybe not.

However, you referenced me in the original post.

I am not interested in furthering any tit for tat exchange- I have said my piece about what I intended to say and defended what I had said in the past.

I will leave you to be responsible for your own words in the same way.

    Goodnight.

The kindness of the stranger personified.

Hail hail everyone and good night.

  16. It is Far too late to Humble the Balance Sheet.

    This is Celtic.

Paying a Celtic player £200000 a week when most would go into debt to be able to witness a player NOT TRY – because of Himan Ego.

I didnae want to go to Murrayfield.
