Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible

I know what you are worried about after last night’s Scotland performance, “He’s going to throw James Forrest in now.”  My feeling on the matter is that James, Callum and Kieran all need to ‘work on their fitness’ a bit.

Since managing Scotland for a few months in 2007, a period that included a 0-1 win in Paris, Alex McLeish has been found out in five subsequent appointments, ending ignominiously in North Africa.  He has the look of what he is, a man earning enough to make good on a tax bill that recently came his way, and nothing else.  Nice gig if you can get it.  He also selects players who are banned for life from the national team.

Scotland have the players to beat the 94th team in the world but were not sufficiently competent to fix up a manager who already lives in the country but manages in Belfast, or conduct an adequate search for an alternative.

The result of this, is that fans stopped caring, as do many players, by the look of it.  I don’t know a single person who was upset last night, the Scotland international football fascination is over.  The once great endeavour of football as a self-contained unit in Scotland is over, everybody knows it.  Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible, please.

  1. DALLAS DALLAS WHERE THE HECK IS DALLAS on 12TH OCTOBER 2018 8:26 PM

    Celtic Mac at 7.47.

A few years ago Dundee United fans were on soccer am. That ‘cheeery cheeky cockney’ chap , Ray Winstone , was on it also.

Winston , thinking he was funny asked the presenter what were all these sweaties doing on the show. The Dundee United fans were beelin at Winstone who was not brought to task for his ridiculous comment.

Anytime Winston comes on the television now , the channel gets changed or volume turned down.

    =========================================

    Dallas,

Can remember that and beelin as it happened.

Ray Winston? the Gazza of English Actors….

If I remember correctly, the Dundee Utd fans weren’t too enamoured, fair play to them….

  2. Big outcry that Gazza (awesome fitba player) was not Inducted to Scottish Fitba – FFS he played his best ever Fitba in England.

Knobs, utter Knobs kidding on they care on Media are what they are.

    It is Englands shame.

  3. Paul67 What are you talking about? “Nobody was upset by last night’s result”?? I was very upset, as a Scot. I am upset that Strachan, who was producing some decent performances was given the elbow, and McLeish, who is probably as good as me, is now managing our national team. He is clueless. It is possible to be Celtic AND Scotland…

  4. 1st

    2nd gear hit in Perth.

3rd away in Germany? I think so. At least a Draw.

I think we will get beat @ Murrayfield. :((

That will ensure we win Every game up to the New Glasgow Derby.

  6. Good morning from a dark and damp Garngad

Some good music posts last night fellas

There is enough fighting and wars in this world without us all bickering on here.

This is trivial compared to what’s happening in the world today.

As my old knightswood Fenian friend would say “peace and love not war”

So come on ghuys tims of the world unite.

    Hail Hail

  7. ” He signed a new deal until 2021 in April 2017 but is keen on a return to England. He was linked with the Aston Villa job following Steve Bruce’s sacking.”

    `he signed a new deal until 2021.` A verifiable statement;

    `but is keen on a return to England.` A prejudiced assumption;

`He was linked with the Aston Villa job following Steve Bruce’s sacking.` A baseless statement made by the same people who gave us the prejudiced assumption. Presumably,to support said assumption.

Journalism like the above…and far from being an isolated incident is the norm in Scotland… remains the reason for CQN`s existence.

I would hope that is taken into account before being too critical of Paul`s positive attitude towards Celtic.

  8. Football without fans is rubbish.

    Croatia v England. Rubbish match.

Croatia v England without fans. Even more rubbishier ?

  9. Twombley

Most Celtic fans have supported Scotland at one time or another but most of us have had it knocked out of us by skulduggery and the sleekitness of the SFA. I also remember attending Scotland games in the 60s when many Scotland fans wore their Rangers scarves to the games.

Nowadays it’s a case of “hell slap it into them” unless of course there’s a significant cohort of Celtic players in the team.

  10. 50 shades of green on

Last Weeks Aston Villa is this weeks Newcastle I see.

Only this time Newcastle still have a manager.

Its gonna be a long season if you believe any of the keech in the papers these days.

    Tomorrow I’m going for

” Rankers looking at Usain Bolt “.

    O aye Morning Tims.

In other news after Gazza got a knock back from the ” hall of infamy ” at hamdump, Zombies fans are to nominate El hadj Diouf instead.

Well it makes as much sense as Brendan to Newcastle.

Some of the above might be fake news, but they started it.

  12. If Brendan Rodgers does leave Celtic, which he will probably do,maybe next season, who would Lawell and co pick as the next manager at Celtic, and more importantly who would the Celtic fans like to be appointed.

Auldheid, I’m twenty eight minutes into the podcast. And I’m loving it. But something happened. I got a text to go to go and see the Pines of Rome in Glasgow City Halls, 30th Nov. Obviously I’m going. So went on to you tube for a wee reminder. It’s the Roman army coming from battles, tired, but victorious. Marching up the Appian Way. The mood changes from knackeredness to pride and glory as they reach the city of Rome.

It only lasts 5 mins. Well worth listening to till the end. Powerful stuff. Listen to the change from minor to major.

Thanks for that. It feels like it’s still at the early stage of the March but the end is inspiring.

Really, what is the point of the above post ( other than reinforcing the MSSM efforts to cause unease among thew Celtic support) ?

    Disgusted, Arbroath.

I listened to the etims podcast, varying opinions even amongst those who took part in the podcast,I do disagree with you when you said this is about SFA reform, that to me is only one part of things, a full independent investigation into the Governance of football here needs to take place, going back as far as it needs to and holding where possible people to account, I still think shareholders and supporters have suffered losses due to the conduct of administrators, maybe it will take court proceedings to establish this.

    ========

The original hope was that uncovering skullduggery would of itself lead to internal reform but persistence has met resistance which might require court proceedings.

That may well happen and if successful SFA reform would have to follow.

An investigation into what went wrong would be a prerequisite of putting things right.

As was mentioned in the podcast had it been any other club than RFC such an investigation would have started the day after Sherriff Officers called at Ibrox in August 2011 and that barrier remains still.

When ss junior was younger he used to ask me to take him to Scotland games. I explained to him that I used to go to these games but became disillusioned due to the verbal abuse of Celtic players. I also mentioned the Rangers scarves.

A few years ago I relented and agreed to take him to a friendly vs the USA. WGS was manager and a couple of hoops players were involved. Our tickets were for the Celtic end (freebies). We took our seats and guess what? Three rows in front was a sevvie complete with club scarf. This was just after liquidation so ourselves and four young Celtic supporters behind us had a great laugh asking him what clubs scarf he was wearing and chanting “take it off”

The game was dire and finished 0-0. Jnr has never asked to go to another Scotland game.

It’s a pity a new generation of Scotland fans are being lost because of their corruption and pro sev, anti Celtic agenda.

I couldn’t agree more. Though I think it was a genuine question, intended to spark debate,it is utterly without merit.

  18. I’ve never attended a Scotland game .I have also never forgotten being at the Mount Florida midden in 1960 for Eintracht Frankfurt v Real Madrid and being shocked at the number of punters exhorting the German team to “get intae these fenian b’s.

  19. daniel arzani.

spoke to someone very close to the team.

the boy is trying hard, willing to learn, be coached, no problems with attitude or application. He is 19.

however on performances, and readiness, and physical , he is behind morgan, mikey , henderson. and he is some way off.

talented for sure, but not yet a paddy roberts.

  20. Hot Smoked, its going to happen,we Celtic Supporters will waken up one morning,to learn that Brendan Rodgers is leaving,as somebody pointed out I put it out for a debate, asking who would be likely to be the next manager at Celtic Football Club, that’s all,F sake to the party line on here, naw don’t think so.

  21. The major prob for the SFA is most of its fanbase AKA sevconions have turned on them and would rather wear an England top than anything to do with Scotland.

Hence McCliesh onboard to try to win favour with sevco fans is their last desperate attempt to stay in their wee cosy ludge club.

It is doomed to failure IMHO as we will see by attendance at meaningless friendly with Portugal.

  22. On the radio-

A Brescia FC suit asked about the number of Big Clubs competing to sign 18 Year Old Sandro Tonali .The new Pirlo.Up for auction in the next window.Bids of 20 million plus Please –

“Yes -it’s true .We could certainly do with the Money. That said We could also do with the Money we’re missing out on by not charging all these scouts for a Seat to watch the boy ”

For the record -he looks like a player !

  23. glendalystonsils on

Is there a Guinness book of records entry for the number of clubs a manager can be linked with in one season?

    Just asking.
