I know what you are worried about after last night’s Scotland performance, “He’s going to throw James Forrest in now.” My feeling on the matter is that James, Callum and Kieran all need to ‘work on their fitness’ a bit.
Since managing Scotland for a few months in 2007, a period that included a 0-1 win in Paris, Alex McLeish has been found out in five subsequent appointments, ending ignominiously in North Africa. He has the look of what he is, a man earning enough to make good on a tax bill that recently came his way, and nothing else. Nice gig if you can get it. He also selects players who are banned for life from the national team.
Scotland have the players to beat the 94th team in the world but were not sufficiently competent to fix up a manager who already lives in the country but manages in Belfast, or conduct an adequate search for an alternative.
The result of this, is that fans stopped caring, as do many players, by the look of it. I don’t know a single person who was upset last night, the Scotland international football fascination is over. The once great endeavour of football as a self-contained unit in Scotland is over, everybody knows it. Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible, please.

I recall Willie Wallace explaining how,as a Hearts player,he knew that his colleagues could get away with that bit more against Celtic.
And that it was only when he became a Celtic player that he realised just how much!
He will do well to remember that,instead of supplying a cheap quiver of arrows.

My point is some of our support are too quick to castigate

And can i just add i have watched Daniel Arzani here in Oz
and he is a potential world beater but i’ve also watched him

Listened to the full podcast now. Very interesting, especially from about the hour mark. Where do you go from here? How do you move Res. 12 on? One thing became clear, it wont be easy.
If resolution can only be achieved through a court, which one? The Court of Session or CAS? Neither would be straightforward. So many questions like WHO takes it forward. WHAT do they take forward.
I wonder if CAS might just be the more difficult path. After all the route to CAS has to go through UEFA first I believe. Therein lies a hurdle I believe. I don’t think UEFA come out of things SFA/Rangers from c2011 smelling of roses. I don’t believe for a second they did not know the full extent of all the issues surrounding this lot. But they closed their eyes and hoped it would all go away. They hide behind a front of ‘we don’t initiate proceedings’. We only respond to member clubs or member associations. I bet there are plenty examples where this is not the case.
Also, was glad you brought up your thinking on refereeing in Scotland. Totally agree. Make the SPFL ‘The Customer’ and the refereeing organisation ‘The Service Provider’. Make them accountable. And separate from the SFA obviously.
As was mentioned too, even as things stand, no one should be allowed to be a member of an SFA board and at the same time be a member of an SPFL board. It’s incestuous.
