Sevco’s sums

464

We got sight of a couple of interesting stats in the last 24 hours.  Sevco released their proposed season ticket prices for this season – £258 for adults.  The Herald today told us they have sold 450 tickets, which would generate £116k.

For every 10,000 full price adult tickets Sevco sell they can expect an income of £2.58m.  40,000 sales would bring in just over £10m.

The cost Rangers faced to run a football club at Ibrox, before employing any staff whatsoever, has varied in recent seasons, but not dipped below £16m.  On top of this Rangers employed around 200 non-playing staff plus dozens of players.

You see the size of the funding challenge Sevco face, made all the more difficult by what appears to be an almost weekly appearance of a distraction in the form of other parties wanting them to relinquish control.  It’s almost as though the universe is conspiring to starve them of income. Their issues with the SFA will grab current headlines, but if these are resolved far greater challenges lie ahead.

Fans of all Scottish clubs are invited to contribute their thoughts on a variety of subjects, including policing, stewarding, the media, offensive chanting, and are asked for ideas to improve the supporter experience.

I have spoken to the researcher tasked with getting a perspective on this and he is keen to hear from as many Celtic fans as possible.  It will take you around three minutes to complete the online survey, which you can do from here.

Celtic going 4-4-1-1 with Commons and Murphy up front.

Paddy given CM again – looks like Lenny sees this as his position. Thought he did well alongside Joe Ledley in a game last season – Twardzik and McCourt a little too lightweight?

Sorry, your remarks about Paddy are based on anti-beard stereotyping. It’s about time Celtic had a two-footed player with skill at CM.

Murphy keeps getting game time ..continues to be rubbish …maybe we shouldn`t play him and hope his reputation improves with inactivity

  6. Evening Celts, theres 5/6 players in that team who wont start against Aberdeen or in CL qualifiers, do our first team need a wee rest after all the travelling?

I guess the whole squad will get a run out, I have a feeling this season is starting too early for us, I hope we can hit the ground running but it looks to me like we won’t.

    ach well.

Stringer Bell – Pulling up the drawbridge behind you?

In a jocular right wing fashion, obviously.

    Obviously that’s my plan, yes.

I’m so threatened by all these young people being pressed into debt-servitude to get their degrees in David Beckham Studies from the University of Craiglang (formerly Bawbag Polytechnic), when they can barely read, write, and do sums, that I’m trying to somehow deny them the six-figure-salary, high-flying careers that employers are lining up to bestow on people with pointless degrees from Mickey Mouse universities.

And I’d have gotten away with it too, if it hadn’t been for Stringer Bell. Curses! (thumbsup)

I can only think that he’s getting game time to increase the chance of a sale, its a wasted opportunity to give a 1st teamer a start, we need our best players to get game time and up their fitness levels.

  12. its funny how quickly CQN can change, it was all doom after our defeat to ajax then the ‘we dont have any money to sign players’, now the papers are running stories we are in for this one and that one and some excitment develops. for what its worth, no manager cant give 100% assurance his target will come in an do well, there will always be some hits and some misses. so far NFL has had more hits than misses, lets hope that continues.

for what its worth i would jump at any centre back aged 28 – 30 years old who has a good history at international and club level and is willing to commit for the next 3 – 4 years. i like rogne and charlie but rogne is still very young for a centreback (same applies to victor and he’s a midfielder) and charlie seems to move into different areas of the team to suit. wilson relies on his pace to componsate for his poor positioning and lack of concentration. both centre backs talked about today appear to have the attributes we need though one is a bit younger (he may have better resale value and therefore be more appealing to the board). if i was the celtic manager i would be putting whatever money i have into the backline.

i fear cox would be the new murphy, radumssion and will just take another wage out of the club. we would be better offloading these two for free to whoever will take them, selling paddy, ki and bangurra, and putting whatever we get and safe on them together to attract a quality striker who has a track record at the highest possible level. failing thant i would prefer we stick with hooper, stokes, bangurra and watt for next season.

Easier said than done, I know! But there must be somebody out there, surely, willing to take at least one of these 3, if not all of them, even on loan?!

I do, slows everything down then goes on meandering runs to nowhere. Decent passer to be fair. When he’s on song there’s no better sight in scottish football than Paddy going on a run and ending it with a pass or shot, but that rarely happens.

NEIL LENNON wants to boost Celtic’s Champions League hopes with the signing of four “quality players” during the summer.

The Parkhead boss today revealed he will be offloading six of his squad to make way for the new faces at the end of the season.

Those heading for the exit have been informed and Lennon said today: “We hope to bring in three or four quality players. Some players will be leaving, about six and they have been told.

Don’t think he’s good defensively and we have far better in the squad. His best position is probably in the space between middle and front that Commons played in at the end of last season. He can wander from there and find space.

  21. Truly MAGNIFICENT piece of Hun delusion from FF I just had to share. Partidge-esque:

Default Re: Anyone else witnessing a change in mindset of your arm-chair Rangers supporter?

That’s why i think we could easily raise a huge amount of money for the club by offering a unique one off life time membership for 200 pounds to the first 50,000 or even 100,000 supporters worldwide. I know of at least 8 people that would buy into this and none of them are ST holders. Imagine being part of the “We Are the People” club with your very own unique membership number. We could have the largest supporters club in the world even outstripping Barca.

PS this would raise anywhere between 10 and 20 million pounds.

  22. Good game tonight for capturing a bit of form, clicking through the gears with the rapturous support and the team connecting. We need that mutual love in imo, gets the best out of the players. Hope Paddy has a good game, chance to shine against good opposition, hope he grabs it.
