The SFA have made an error in interpreting their laws. They refuse to discipline Calum Butcher as the rules do not allow them to switch a punishment retrospectively. This is correct, but the rules do allow retrospective action which the referee has not seen.
Craig Thomson saw the Butcher-van Dijk incident inasmuch as he was looking at the players, but didn’t see it well enough to call an infringement. SFA rules permit retrospective action under these circumstances.
The matter becomes theoretically more complicated by the involvement of the assistant referee, Graham Chambers. Chambers also saw the incident inasmuch as he was also looking at the players, but he didn’t have a clear understanding of what happened either. He couldn’t even identify the Dundee United player involved.
The rules on retrospective action do not require a referee to be looking in the opposite direction before the Disciplinary Panel become involved. A ref can see the incident but not see if sufficiently well to correctly report what happened. This is the basis under which Nadir Ciftci has been asked to attend the Panel.
Both referees on Sunday saw the incident. Neither saw it well enough to bear witness to the actions of the two Dundee United players involved. SFA laws allow both to be examined retrospectively.
Aiden Connolly, at the very least, has a case to answer for diving in the box. Should the SFA ban Virgil van Dijk while turning a blind eye to Connolly and incorrectly interpreting their own rules on Butcher, and almighty row will kick off on the competency of those who govern our game.
Delighted for Stefan Johansen, who is February’s Player of the Month. His goal in Perth was a joy and a fitting mark to the development he has achieved this season.
Before Friday’s CQN 11 St Patrick’s Dinner you can win a Celtic jersey signed by the 2008 squad, who won one of the most remarkable titles in our history. All proceeds go towards building a fourth CQN school kitchen in Malawi, for Mary’s Meals.

Greenpinta. I think self employed tradesmen may well be able to work at Ibrokes useing there own liability insurance but if they dont get paid are they going to give up other income I think that would be doubtful they also have bills to pay.H.H.
__________
I was talking to a hertz fan in work today about the above, according to him hertz have been using volunteer tradesmen for a while at tyncastle.
Their supporters have a fund from which they draw money for materials, he reckons at present there’s £150,000 in it.
Even he laughed, when I pointed out if it was hun tradesmen from our work that volunteered their skills for ipox, i would fear for the safety of their fans :)

Dont know if correct as this is only mention, but if it is may signal some hope for Virgil.
Wednesday 11th
I received a large amount of birthday cards today. Some from people I do not know. In particular a Mass bouquet with fifty Masses on it from Mrs Burns from Sevastopol Street. We all know of her, she never forgets us and we shan’t forget her, bless her dear heart.
I also received a card from reporter Brendan O Cathaoir, which indeed was thoughtful. I received a letter from a friend, and from a student in America whom I don’t know, but again it’s good to know that people are thinking of you. There were some smuggled letters as well from my friends and comrades.
I am the same weight today and have no complaints medically. Now and again I am struck by the natural desire to eat but the desire to see an end to my comrades’ plight and the liberation of my people is overwhelmingly greater.
The doctor will be taking a blood test tomorrow. It seems that Dr Ross has disappeared and Dr Emerson is back…
Again, there has been nothing outstanding today except that I took a bath this morning. I have also been thinking of my family and hoping that they are not suffering too much.
I was trying to piece together a quote from James Connolly today which I’m ashamed that I did not succeed in doing but I’ll paraphrase the meagre few lines I can remember.
They go something like this: a man who is bubbling over with enthusiasm (or patriotism) for his country, who walks through the streets among his people, their degradation, poverty, and suffering, and who (for want of the right words) does nothing, is, in my mind, a fraud; for Ireland distinct from its people is but a mass of chemical elements.
Perhaps the stark poverty of Dublin in 1913 does not exist today, but then again, in modern day comparison to living standards in other places through the world, it could indeed be said to be the same if not worse both North and South. Indeed, one thing has not changed, that is the economic, cultural and physical oppression of the same Irish people…
Even should there not be 100,000 unemployed in the North, their pittance of a wage would look shame in the company of those whose wage and profit is enormous, the privileged and capitalist class who sleep upon the people’s wounds, and sweat, and toils.
Total equality and fraternity cannot and never will be gained whilst these parasites dominate and rule the lives of a nation. There is no equality in a society that stands upon the economic and political bog if only the strongest make it good or survive. Compare the lives, comforts, habits, wealth of all those political conmen (who allegedly are concerned for us, the people) with that of the wretchedly deprived and oppressed.
Compare it in any decade in history, compare it tomorrow, in the future, and it will mock you. Yet our perennial blindness continues. There are no luxuries in the H-Blocks. But there is true concern for the Irish people.

Great picture!
McCall’s greatest talent as a manager seemed to be losing to the dead club – not sure that’s much use to the new mob.
Surely if the appointment is for this season only they should be looking for someone with a track record in the second tier?
Thank you wits

bournesouprecipe,
Forgot about that one. This job then is reward for services to the new club as well as the old one
Seen on twitter
“For most clubs “manager of the month” is an award. At Ibrox it’s a job description”.
Grant Russell on STV news with his Sevco tie on and big smiley face.
Gordon_J
Indeed Stuart McCall doesn’t look overly impressed with the ‘reward’

Thebarcamole.
Hail Hail.
I know exactly who you are.
Hope you are well.
Debbie still remembers you and is grateful for the help you gave her in Norwich. She still remembers singing The Advocat song at the club.
I was also at P.F.s funeral. I used to have my season ticket beside him and Billy. Met up with him a few months before he passed away, we went to the Pines. He could still sink his Guinness faster than I could my point. I said hello to chunky and Eddie at funeral so we must have just missed each other.
I will enjoy your posts even more now………………..
Aye, wee Paul and Elaine came out and stayed with me in Dubai for a fortnight or so in 2008…………… Dubliner’s ran out of Guinness….
Top ghuy and a very, very, good player as a young one. God Bless………..
Know that Big Billy C was your pal; loved him to bits. ‘And they gave us James McGrory and’ …………… Cologne was mental, a joint venture Polok and Cumbernauld CSC!
Take care pal, I don’t post on here too much anymore but still have loads of time for the good ghuys and they are many………
Think I almost adopted Debbie when she arrived at our CSC; maybe was even a wee bit too protective. Hope she is well………..
JH was adamant re Debbie; permission needed before she can wander about the town…………….Jeez, we really are stupid old men but we mean well eh!
In Cebu for now but will be back when time/finance and league winning titles allow………..
God Bless you T…
Regards & Hail Hail

Why were you meeting him?
Was he looking for a spare ticket and a wee lift on CSC bus?
Did his pals’ knuckles drag all the way up the motorway like a static conductor hanging from a 70s Capri?
Is PL really your uncle?

Sevco seems to have collapsed into a kind of hunnish black hole sucking in all those of a Rangers mind.
Listening to all the guff since Friday, ‘staunch’ is now back with a veangance. All new starts are steeped in staunch, and get tested for stauncicity …;) Ra Bomber will be next back on board-Stauncicity Level 10
An almighty row should have kicked off re the competency of those who govern our game .. Some time again
We refrained from challenging these bandits ….they stick it to us everytime
Maybe this time enough will be enough for the plc …..one can only hope
Again…ago even
Ole Mullet back at Bigotdome ….a continuation of his early season at Motherwell will do fine
Unfortunately he cannae be worse than the hapless McDowell
Does Stuart McCall do walking away?

The unprofessional Stokes should be nowhere near a Celtic jersey for the final. Ronny still hasn’t learned the lesson. Deserved award for SJ who has an incredible engine.
