SFA take correct decision

278

Based on the estimates of the Chief Scientific Advisor of the actual (not confirmed) number of carriers in the country right now, and allowing for the current daily increase, we could expect between 10 and 20 carriers at Ibrox on Sunday.

Those carriers shout and sing, projecting their breath particles several meters into the vicinity of dozens of people each.  When goals are scored, fans embrace, heartily.  Everyone touches their face.  Football games on this scale, where goals are celebrated, would rattle coronavirus through the population quicker than any other gathering.  More people would die as a result.

The SFA made the right decision.  They acted ahead of two hesitant governments, both of whom wanted this game to go ahead.

Let’s look after each other.

………..I had a piece prepared on the Adidas deal; maybe tomorrow.

  2. What has already happened is the Sleekits are positioning the question of making the League Null and Void………..attempting to validate this prepostreous scenario so late in the League……. and ensuring the Celtic are impeded in their right and proper march to an untainted Nine.

    Whit they like, eh!?

  4. If the league is declared void would a team be able to go into admin shed their debts without any points penalty?

  5. At what stage do clubs have to start refunding season ticket money?

Presumably not yet as games have been postponed rather than cancelled, but that can’t continue indefinitely.

If anyone has been daft enough to allow the huns any sort of credit terms you’d imagine they’d be piling in quick to get their money back before it’s too late.

  6. The Euros will be cancelled which allows the leagues up to the end of June to complete their fixtures, the knock on effect will be Champions League qualifiers

Could possibly play all the games up to the split with every time havin played each other three times, but I doubt the clubs would go for that…

Depending on how long this goes on, multiple Clubs could enter administration.

  8. Jobo’s Plan –

Football suspended until it’s safe to resume.

When that time comes, regardless of what month we are in, get the remaining 2019-20 fixtures arranged and played.

IF next season has to start a bit late, consider ditching either or both cup competitions for next year only.

If next season starts VERY late, reduce the league campaign as appropriate – e.g. play home and away and THEN have the split. Or even just play a 22-game season, home and away

Haven’t yet thought what’d happen about Europe but maybe, for one season only, UEFA could agree to an old style, simple knock out Champions league and Europa League…..

Than all back to ‘normal’ the following year…

Hypothetically speaking, if a club was trading as a going concern, and had secured funding against fixed assets, you could say this turn of events is perhaps not ideal.

2)He scored in a Glasgow cup final,Drybrough cup final, league cup final and Scottish cup final in same season?

  14. What if the SPFL clubs decide to declare the league null and void and split the prize money equally. I’m sure that would be a majority vote.

Incidentally the SPFL member clubs voted to prevent Falkirk’s promotion, so there is a precedent for members decision making.

Many of us stated that the greatest threat to 9 and the historic 10 would come from outwith the playing park.

Well maybe. However, the prospective Scottish government “ban” on various gatherings was based in part at least that big crowds require major medical provision etc. Well I was at Celtic Park on Saturday, not one ambulance to be seen. Bang goes that theory.,

I prefer the Giro to le Tour. That would have been a great stage to see. I was hoping to catch a stage of la vuelta this year but I unlikely now.

  17. I don’t see football resuming for many months. The season is probably over.

I believe we will be correctly awarded our title. An average of each team’s points per game extrapolated to a 38 game season takes care of games in hand.

Unfortunately our quest for the quad treble is at an end.

  18. the long wait is over on

While I agree with Paul’s assessment of how the virus could spread within the stadium itself I’d have thought that it’s every bit as likely , if not more , that it would be spread by people in really close proximity in enclosed spaces such as cars, public transport and , worst of all, crammed supporters buses , many for several hours at a time.

Those buses seem to me to be mobile incubators at the best of times but could be , literally, lethal at the minute.

Lennon says we should be champions.

Queue outrage from the likes of Tom English. Neil never suggested the season should be scrapped.

I much prefer the Giro to the Tour. Lots of the top rank Italian chaps do some winter training in small Sicilian towns with seriously steep roads.I once saw Nibali repetively doing a 3km climb on the the road between Ragusa Ibla and Ragusa.A climb i’ d find difficult on foot – He spent hours repetitively doing it – climb to the top ,turn /fly down and repeat

  23. We are in uncharted territory both as individuals, Families & Football Fans.

There is no money in Scottish Football to bail out Clubs. This Corona virus crisis could go on for a year

When normality is resumed we could be looking at an entirely different landscape.

If Clubs have no income how can they afford to pay wages,

There will be no market to sell players,

    Clubs could go under,

This could be a catalyst for change in Scottish/British/European Football,

Worrying about this year’s Title is silly at this stage.

Stick together & keep each other’s spirits up, as a self confessed Sports Junkie, I’m dreading the coming weeks & months but in reality there is a much more important agenda out there.

People’s Health & Livelihood are indeed at stake and in some cases their actual lives

Be kind & supportive and together we will get through this.

  24. Well ,the Huns would have to have played last night,as it gives them £ 1.2 million in gate money. No problems with the league being suspended, but for me the timing is fraud.Last nights game,in which the return had already been classed as BCD,should at least have been ordered by the SFA.They also let in German fans, from an infected area.To turn around less than a day later, and call a halt to football, stinks to high heaven for me.

Good to see Lenny come out,all guns blazing today.

  25. the long wait is over on

If the season is to be abandoned then divide each team’s current points total by the number of league games they’ve actually played and multiply by 38.

I don’t get the dislike of Tom English on here.

    I think he’s pretty fair.

  27. Corkcelt,

All that is fine, but do you not have doubts about last nights game going ahead?Just as in 2011,they have succeeded in keeping the Huns afloat.Timing far too suspicious for me.

  28. Open air football being banned -but surely under-cover places pose more of a risk. Concerts ,cinemas, conferences ,parliaments and shops !!! supermarkets etc.
