Some consistency from Uefa, please

819

Of all the supporter-related offenses Uefa are disciplining football clubs on at the moment the use of lasers annoys me most (with the appropriate caveat for health and safety matters).

Racism, health and safety violations, violence flares are all appropriate reasons to sanction a club but it’s always bothered me that Uefa seem to let the continental fashion for shining powerful lasers into the faces of opposing players and managers was not tackled appropriately.

I was, therefore, pleased to hear Uefa disciplined Olympiacos for, among a rich litany of offenses, their fans pointing a laser at Anderlecht players during their recent Champions League game.  The Greek club have been ordered to close the more colourful part of their stadium for their last 16 game against Manchester United.

It will surprise few of us that despite the Greeks being sanctioned for using lasers, Milan have gone unpunished, despite their fans pointing lasers at Celtic players during our recent drubbing.

These games are supervised and televised from multiple angles.  If the use of lasers attracts a punishment, and it should, the rules must apply without fear or favour.

Everyone who asked to book a ticket or table for the CQteN St Patrick’s Day Party should have received an email regarding payment in the last day.  If you have not received an email, get in touch right away (CQNbooks@gmail.com) to ensure your booking is confirmed.

Orders received today for the CQN Annual will meet tomorrow’s the last posting day before Christmas for the UK.  Order below, £5 from each Annual goes to our Malawi appeal:

This is the guy who talent spotted pukki as a striker lol

  2. You can simply do what we did, if your concerned about online or offline criminality, record it and send it to the police. If you’ve concerns about the possible repercussions from the bigots, the police are well versed in dealing with anonymity issues

That sentence is hilarious, thomo clearly needs educating ref Police Scotland, i recommend he gets a tour of any Glasgow Police office! what adorns the walls of many Police officers will surely answer his questions of why no action, Follow follow and Rangers Media are online every day with impunity with content which he found unacceptable to his journalistic colleague

I had a job a few years back during which i had to engage with Police Scotlands finest so the answer is yes i have seen it, posters, calendars, etc etc of oldco Ragers! you would be surprised JJ

  7. A chartered accountant then took the microphone to ask what was ‘moral and ethical’ under their professional code about Stockbridge accepting a £200,000 bonus, which he has since repaid, for Rangers winning the Third Division. Cue great acclaim.

  8. Tickets for the home cup game against Aberdeen go on sale to season ticket holders at 9.30am this morning, Upper tier is closed (for the moment) so it’s a free for all as to which seat you can buy – first come, fist served. CQN-meet for the front main stand, half way line, right in front of the directors and celebreties?

  9. Tomo said it himself- nobody is complaining to the police about this stuff. Are you ready for a tit-for-tat war? Are you confident that you’ve never written anything that might see you pulled up?

Thank you but I am not at all surprised. Alex does a far better job than any of the MSSM regarding Oldco and Newco but I still don`t think he realises just how entrenched the bias in their favour is.

Conversely, I read with interest one of Richard Haass’ proposals regarding the resolution of the contentious Union flag over Belfast City Hall is to fly the Irish tricolour along side the Union flag…..maybe there is a way forward.

Then again Richard Haass may have a sense of humour.

    Yep Christine Graham

We have already highlighted Grahame’s comments, made during the evidence hearings of the Justice Committee, to the effect that the existing legislation does not convict Celtic supporters in equal numbers to Rangers supporters and inferred that this was somehow problematic and specifically ‘not even’.

    Morning Guys,

As we approach the last say for posting out the by now legendary CQN Annual for 2014 can I once again to the better nature of those who have not but one– or more– for one reason or another.

The annual is printed on really top quality paper, is a fantastic technical production ( none of which is down to anything to do with me ) and has a lot of great stories and articles with a few OK ones from yours truly.

You will need a hanky or two at times… and a good memory or old age for some stories.

You will also need a strong opinion for the 80’s team of the decade.

However, the best reason for buying one is that for each copy sold £5 is donated towards the appeal for a much needed community Kitchen in Malawi.

To reiterate — The Kitchen will feed 1200 children who otherwise live in an area where a very plain and ordinary meal is a luxury –a necessity— a life saving event.

The intention here is to make a difference– not a wee difference– but a huge difference— a massive difference– the difference between despair and hope, nutrition and…. well all that malnutrition can bring and mean.

So– order one for someone else if you already have one– have it posted to them as a surprise– whether it is a relative or friend in another part of the country we will post it first class and transfer your fiver.

With a bit of luck this time next year we will bring you photos of the CQN African Kitchen showing that this really does make a difference.

Who knows what else we can do — but first we have to fund and build this kitchen along with Mary’s Meals who do some absolutely fantastic work– unbelievable work.

So– sorry for the blunt pitch but this is as near as we will ever get to the concept of the penny dinners in our lifetime, and so I am suggesting a Christmas present for someone you know and potentially a whole lot of Christmases for someone you don’t.

    Cheers

    BRTH

By the way I have asked a question:

Why have the Police done nothing about the other people who were the subject of David Limond’s broadcasts… the police do know about them and who they are!

  25. I thought this was quite a funny and subtle line from Alex Thomson:

“All football clubs have their lowlife and their underclass – I understand Celtic’s have recently been out and about attacking stadium seats for instance.”

  26. I think that was a miss type on the Virgil comment..” We can’t drink the tap water so we don’t have to carry bottles up the stairs” I think it was ” we CAN drink the tap water so we DONT have to carry bottles up the stairs” I think?
