Speak his name in hushed tones

1566

For three months a charade took place, where Craig Whyte – who is and will remain owner of Rangers until they are finally ‘flushed away’, Duff and Phelps, The Blue Knight(s), Bill Miller, Charles Green, several members of the accountancy profession who should have known better, and some of the Fourth Estate, who clearly didn’t know better, all told you Rangers were likely to achieve a CVA.

As we (and several others) told you, a CVA was never, ever, going to be accepted by HMRC.  A cursory glance at the HMRC web site would confirm that.  Once Alex Salmond had his wings clipped, that debate was over.

The charade was a distraction.  There are many other distractions available today and they will multiply in the days to come, but I reckon if you’re looking for the critical path on this one you should keep an eye on Lord Carloway.  The chair of the SFA Appellate Panel is worth listening out for.  Say his name in hushed tones, better still, abbreviate.  Even the mention of LC will cause anxiety and distress, for some.

Sorry. Just re-read your post and realised that you had connected him to a Supporters group. Mea culpa!

I wonder what the reaction of fans around the country would have been if all connected with RFC (Deid) had responded in the more honest manner that John MacMillan has instead of the blame everyone but themselves attitude which prevailed?

  2. Been talking with my brother regarding how the hun fans have sat back and let their club be slowly but surely shafted till it died.

Also, even just going back to feb 14th how they could only muster a few thousand to march on an empty Hampdem.

Even now after what our hero Craigie Whyte has done they still sit back and watch Chuck Green pick up the carcass to use and abuse for his profit.

We wondered at which point we Celtic fans, if put in the same situation, would have got together to save our club.

Breaking it up roughly into segments, were would we have seen what was happening and grouped together and stopped it.

1..late 90’s-minty over spending for any club in Scotland, but having ‘success’ doing it.

2..early-2000’s-still spending silly money but now MON and Sutty have put them in their place.

3..mid 2000’s-a couple of last min league wins but still the debt gets higher.

4..late 2000’s-GS wins league 3 years in a row, the spending has dipped but the debt is still high.

5..around 2010ish-still spending millions but now winning 3 titles.

    6..Craigie Whyte time.

    7..Chuck Green time.

We reckoned Celtic fans would have seen disaster coming around segment 3, although some fans may have been blinded by the last min league wins.

We know there are a Celtic fans who would have seen the warning signs as far back as the 90’s but reckon the average fan would have been around seg 3.

What we do know is 6 and 7 would never have happened because we would have chased ‘minty’ long before it got to the stages off the bank running the club.

In the above scenario we’re assuming a balanced press and not the jokers we have up here.

We’re assuming the press would not hide the truth regarding debt level’s and would not regard spending £20M in one transfer window as having ‘no money to spend’.

  6. Had a brief chat with a hunnite this arvo. He was pretty much in line with my thoughts (shock! horror!) – mainly that the RFF money would have been better spent on funding an investigation into the RFC(deid) directors.

Don’t worry. HMRC are on the case.

At the start of the Channel 4 coverage the very first words I heard, from a reliable source, regarding Craig Whyte, were ‘he’s going to jail’.

Nothing has come along to prove him wrong

The article in today’s record regarding Sky is as ridiculous as it is predictable. The Daily Record are in a fight for their own survival here. Their circulation has plummeted in recent years, and they are particularly dependent on Rangers supporters for readership

They may not survive if Rangers do not get SPL entry. They are at risk more than any football club. This ensures that they will not be objective in any position they adopt on this. Anyone who expects a tabloid dependent on one clubs support to play it straight is getting expectation and reality mixed up

    Dissecting the Record story

Nobody from Sky is named. A Sky insider is claimed to be the source. Really an insider !! Thats the best that the Record could come up with.

That’s as easy as the journalist sitting down with Jim Traynor , who may have appeared on Sky once, or maybe it was Jim Whyte, and getting their prejudiced opinions portrayed as Sky’s official position. Not to mention the fact that Rupert might just not be overly keen to allow an exclusive to be given to a hated rival, rather than splashed in The Sun

Not least of the nonsense pedaled was the statement that Sky were poised to tear up the contract. Sky need Scottish Football. Scottish football is a very reasonably priced schedule filler. Given some of the dross Sky put into their schedule, it’s even a decent quality reasonably priced option.

Sky may want to negotiate a new price, thats commercially logical. However they will not want to be left with a huge hole in their schedule at this short notice. There is no other product that Sky could successfully show in its place. The English contracts and schedules are agreed, a continental league shown on a Sunday lunchtime would be a non starter, especially as Sky would have no influence over kick off times.

Sky need the SPL, and an SFL with Rangers would also have some appeal. The SPL do not have a weak negotiating hand here. In negotiations you have to understand the needs of who you are negotiating with.

SKY has a schedule to fill. They are up against the clock and there is a lack of alternative. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

McMillan was the hun recently interviewed on Beattie’s programme in Radio Scotland.

When asked about the state of rangers and should they admit to wrongdoing, he said, “What about the recent behaviour of the Celtic manager?”

It was so purile that the interviewer cut him off. He’s a scumbag.

This scandal has a long way to run, gets ever bigger, and before it finally runs out of steam,a lot of people are going to wish they’d never heard of rfc (dead) or “moonbeams” (extinguished).

I doubt Salmond is personally involved. We know that Murray threw his support behind the SNP (for a Unionist) but I doubt that the politicians are capable enough to get knee deep in with Murray.

According to Phil the Cops think at least one guy could be in bother over the Rangers takeover and that is the most interesting bit.

Whyte and Murray are the two principles but what about the bankers?

You’re right. Scottish football has to embrace modernisation, it has to widen its scope and adapt to the latest possibilities technology has to offer; only by doing this will it increase the depth of its audience reservoir. Internet TV streamed directly through your television, en masse, is a few years away, but streaming via computer is possible now, as it is with Channel67. There could be a multi-media package that links your i-phone, computer, i-pad etc so you can watch a game wherever you are.

I cannot believe BT are offering 6.5m for a single EPL game when Celtic are a bigger draw globally than most other clubs down south put together…we don’t even get that kind of dough for a whole season. Something is wrong somewhere down the line. Even if the SPL is no great draw in itself ( and we know it is more popular than the EPL on relative averages) it still has Celtic- what league in the world excpeting EPL) wouldn’t want such a positive brand in their league? The Dutch Eredivisie has contracts with NOS, the Dutch public broadcaster , but more importantly has formed Eredivisie Live, a Pay TV Channel also offering Pay per View facilities: could you imagine a few years ago having such a facility for all SEVEN Celtic-Rangers games? What kind of money would you be talking just for one game?

Change needs to happen- unfortunately I don’t think Doncaster or Regan are the men to bring it to Scottish football.

“Donkeys leading Lions” comes to mind.
