SPFL review but know to expect further challenges

1294

The new SPFL board yesterday agreed that some sort of review should take place into the debacle which saw Rangers collapse into liquidation. While this is welcome as far as it goes, its scope will necessarily be bound by what the SPFL previously agreed to bind itself to.  This was clear from the off, which I alluded to at the time.

If you contractually agree to limit your future actions for all purposes, you tie your own hands. This is where the SPFL are now and it is the reason we must look beyond them. The actions of those who tied their own hands are just as important as matters pertaining to the integrity of Scottish football’s competitions (the Scottish Cup and SFL League Cup, as well as the SPL).

The SPFL are not the only ones who are looking into this matter. They know to expect challenges during the course of the next two months.

Episode 5 of The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind comes hot on the heels of one of the club’s most controversial European ties in recent memory.

* What now for the Green Brigade?
* Dedryck Boyata – Are reinforcements on route?
* Virgil van Dijk – The windfall cometh;

Do pine martens eat squirrels? …

Recent research in Ireland has shown that pine martens

are more likely to eat non-native grey squirrels than native red squirrels.

This research has shown that where pine martens are

thriving red squirrel numbers have increased

    and grey squirrel numbers decreased.

Statement from the People’s Popular Front for the Liberation of Judea.

We appeal to all anti grey squirrellistas not to be swayed by the treachery by the Popular Front of Judea in their attempt to force us Reds to join forces with the enemies of PROGRES (the greys) and also to pay no attention to the proposed football game (opium of the people) scheduled to take place in Squirrel Park tomorrow.

I truly hope they do and they manage to find a solution. No doubt the GB have played a wonderful part in recent Celtic history, and with some appreciation of the position they are putting Celtic in, leading to some concessions, they’ll undoubtedly play an even greater part in our future.

  18. Over and over on

Read this whole thread tonight and struggle to understand why, and what, motivates some people to follow this amazing club of ours. Celtic are a football club with a unique history and tradition built on the altruism and charitable intent of it’s Irish Catholic founder. That’s what is is but what it’s not is a vehicle for the promotion of a united Ireland through armed struggle or the sole ‘anti establishment’ voice in Scottish football.

Why any fellow ‘supporter’ would stop watching Celtic because the Board haven’t done enough to demand titles be stripped is beyond me. Surely being a Celtic fan should mean more to you than being a Hun Skelper? Likewise, we have the best manager we’ve had for years and who is capable of achieving great things yet we get people on here calling for his head because he dared to criticise the actions of the Green Brigade. He, like the Board, totally understands that if we are ever to break free from the shackles of Scottish football we need to get rid of the perception, and unfortunately evidenced (in the eyes of the media) at the Linfield game, that our fans are rabid IRA supporting thugs.

We can, and most weeks do, celebrate our Irish heritage without resorting to offensive banners and songs and the Green Brigade can and should continue to to lead this.

And whilst I totally believe that we were cheated out of titles etc…and, if justice were to be done it would see Sevco exposed for the cheats they are, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it and it won’t, for one single second, dilute the love I have for Celtic. Life is way too short to deny yourself of things just to make a point. So rather than concern yourself with what others are doing live by the mantra of Celtic First, Celtic Last and Celtic Overall.

The Green Brigade wurny allowed into the Marseille (sp) gemme the other week, how did that turn oot ?

Ye see, without any atmosphere the morra night, why don’t the club invite WGS to staun at the dug oot wi, Brendan and, WGS can keep him clued up wi, what is required when yer a, toe the line manager, am sure they’ll be able to hear each other, with ease, staunin in the middle of a, library.

The Green Brigade, is thee, last remaining, shred of Celtic-ness, about the entire club.
