SPFL review but know to expect further challenges

1294

The new SPFL board yesterday agreed that some sort of review should take place into the debacle which saw Rangers collapse into liquidation. While this is welcome as far as it goes, its scope will necessarily be bound by what the SPFL previously agreed to bind itself to.  This was clear from the off, which I alluded to at the time.

If you contractually agree to limit your future actions for all purposes, you tie your own hands. This is where the SPFL are now and it is the reason we must look beyond them. The actions of those who tied their own hands are just as important as matters pertaining to the integrity of Scottish football’s competitions (the Scottish Cup and SFL League Cup, as well as the SPL).

The SPFL are not the only ones who are looking into this matter. They know to expect challenges during the course of the next two months.

Episode 5 of The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind comes hot on the heels of one of the club’s most controversial European ties in recent memory.

* What now for the Green Brigade?
* Dedryck Boyata – Are reinforcements on route?

  1. The Police would not cause obstructions now would they? I agree that the issues from the Hearts game should have been dealt with then not now as they involved the potential for a fire, that surely cannot be left for 8 wks, Mr Safety Security and Events still in his cushy number no doubt

    H.T.

    Good statement by the Trust.

Celtic have used a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

There are two ghuys on Phil Macs Twitter timeline who have had their season tickets deactivated who have had season tickets since before the G.B were thought off. One wasn’t even at the Linfield game, guilty by association, is their only game.

P.S. I loved the what your Dad done v what your Dad complains about.

    Hail Hail.

  3. How often will Celtic need to sit down with the GB before they get the message?

The banners and pyros. The GB statement contained ” for which we accept full responsibility “, smacks of ” we will do what we see fit”

What are Celtic expected to do then? More talking? Will the GB be willing to concede that in future:

    1. They will not discharge pyros

    2. They will have banners pre approved

Is that too much to expect? I’m sorry but I’m not buying into their bull.

As for the innocents in that section, who played no part in any wrongdoing, the real victims , they do not need to look to far to see who is responsible, and it’s not Peter Lawell.

Hi mate, spent last night in Rothiemurchus estate outside Aviemore.

Red squirrels only fantastic wee creatures;-)

    ————————————————————————

I only get grey ones in my garden. Can’t remember the last time I saw a red one actually. The grey ones get a bad rep on account of being designated American. Over paid, over sexed and over here! ;-)))

Good evening sir I hope you’re and the family are well.

“I don’t use foul language, sing proscribed songs, or display inappropriate banners.”

You have however used foul language on here. Proscribed songs? What were they and proscribed by who?

  6. Go to a football match and behave your ********** self.

What is so difficult about that?

Unless you are a control freak.

Or being controlled by a freak.

Why do the PLC need to negotiate with a few hundred fans who can’t behave themselves?

And who won’t behave themselves because their moral compass is different from mine.

    No laughing at the back.

As a matter of interest, regardless of the numbers involved. Grey or Red? Which “species” dominates given any natural territorial battle?

    ———————————————-

The greys are far more numerous now in UK. Apparently they carry a pox that kills the reds. Should point out thought that Beatrix Potter had a story about a grey squirrel called Timmy Tiptoes. So for us Celtic fans that’s got to be the squirrel of choice! :-))

Could be construed as inappropriate touching/hugging.

Did you ask the person’s permission in advance.

PLC may decide to deactivate your season ticket too, the same as loads of other innoncents.

  10. When does a player become the finished article?

Often said when a young player is signed or a guy from a lower league goes to a top tier team.

Vardy and Mahrez both being good examples of such yet along with Kante were the reason for them winning the EPL.

Maybe they were the finished article and thrived in the right environment?

  11. Starry……………

I do not use foul language at Celtic Park. I do not use foul language at home. I do not use foul language at work nor at church.

I do use foul language at other times including on here as the moderators will testify.

And you know the songs i’m talking about.

Why should there be a very small section of “supporters” that the board need to negotiate with on a regular basis because they won’t behave themselves?

  13. Over the weekend i was excited and looking forward to coming home for the CL qualifier and my first game of the season. since then the GB have been banned – The leaked no action by the SPFL – and I arrived home to find i had been burgled.

Ashley Grimes definitely a grey squirrel now though he probably was a red in his man utd days

  15. Grey Squirrels are bigger than indigenous

Red squirrel which they have displaced in most of Britain as they transmit a pox to reds.

As a kid I was told that Pine Martin eat Squirrels and prefer Grey bigger

slower than RED and hence why the red are still about in Scotland.

Since learned that is most likely a pile of pooh.

  16. Why don’t they walk around the high streets with the same banners? Why Celtic Park? Serious question. Why Celtic Park?

I’ve attended many a rebel night, including with friends met here on CQN, and I’ll attend many more. In an appropriate place.

I wish Raymac or someone of similar standing and morals was able to sit down with this lot and give them an education re Ireland.

I think Celtic have been extremely generous in allowing them a portion of the safe standing area

all to themselves, but as the man said:
