Spinning for trouble by Sky

1044

I try to avoid those who really should be avoided but I caught the report of Peter Lawwell’s Sky TV interview on their website yesterday.  The “No summer sales” headline was misleading in itself as our chief exec actually said “there is no real necessity to sell players now”.

We are a solvent and well-run football club, there is no real, or imagined, necessity to sell, but there is an enormous leap between this status and “no summer sales”.  All clubs, not just Celtic, sell when an offer exceeds their valuation for a player and they believe the money could be more productively redeployed elsewhere.  There is no necessity for Manchester City to sell players, not until the oil runs out in the Middle East, anyway, but they may still sell.

Best part of the article was from Charlie Nicholas, “I’m a bitter idiot. Listen, I’ll prove it…..”

I’ve translated that quote from the vernacular.

Loved newco Rangers accounts.  £3.5m in the bank on 31 December, £1.5m loan since, so they have £5m to operate until the season ticket money comes in, which will just be enough, but cash burn is running at over £1m per month; close to £15m a year.

£30m-£50m is not enough.

  3. Just thinking….when I lived in Glasgow we could always engage in fitba chat with fans of Deadclub in the pubs.

Seriously….do they still make conversation or,as I suspect, change the subject as soon as fitba gets discussed?

No they don’t talk football at all. Not once since their demise have I had a conversation with a zombie.

They are ashamed and hide away from. The only time you see or hear them is when they have a game or when they are spouting their lies in the media.

  11. It`s good to be going to Celtic Park with the league safely won.

Ross County will be up for this game, they were quite impressive against Aberdeen and this could be a good match.

I hope not but it may also be our last Saturday 3pm match of the season.

    Come on the Celts!

Haven’t been on site for a few days. I am usually a lurker on here but the response I got the other day was so lovely. I hope that your bloody wonderful support and comments work equally well for Oscar and his family.

Bloody was the only expletive I could come up with to capture the brilliant emotional support I felt. Hope no one took offence.

Just text one of the very best on here and let him know that today I will be giving an extra roar to the champions for the Wee Mhan today.

For one so young he has had an effect on so many,I just have to look at my wee Oscar bracelet and my problems melt into insignificance.

No matter what happens the Wee mhan has had some effect on me and for that I can only simply say Thank you Oscar.

    Morning Bhoys & Ghirls

Been trying to post for the last hour, but words have been failing me.

When I picked my moniker, it was like a CQN christening. This was something that would stick by me long and hard, through good posts and bad. It was an important decision to be made. It would be with me through my CQN days.

I joke when I meet a lurker at any of the CQN events, or meeting up for badges or comms through the predictor that “ok your a lurker..but all lurkers have CQN names, what is yours?”, and believe me, most do and most are very proud.

I picked mine because being a Celtic supporter you have many highs and many lows, and I thought it was appropriate and fun it would be to use rollercoaster in my moniker somehow .

Yet my mind can’t help cast over to the Knox family, (I have thought about little else recently) and see how their entire life to date has been just that a rollercoaster and a dreadful one at that and perhaps being on one is not as great as you first think. Whilst there has been some good days, they are again on that uphill part again that nobody enjoys.

Maybe life on the rollercoaster isn’t as exciting as anticipated, there a very few smooth bits, very few indeed, and I do not know what this family has done to deserve this, but I do know they need our love, support and prayers now more than forever.

The next part of the journey for the family and indeed Wee Oscar is unknown to us all, but I do know this. The love, warmth, and happiness that Wee Oscar and has given us over the last few years will stay with us forever.

Hail, hail Wee Oscar our Celtic Warrior, keep fighting wee mhan!

Terrible news for wee Oscar and his family.

Any chance of some help here, St Jude?

Won’t go into reason behind my wife and I support of St Jude as a great comfort,

    But here goes

O most Holy apostle St Jude

Faithful servant and friend of Jesus

The church honours and invokes you universally

As the patron of hopeless cases

    Of things almost despaired of

    Pray for Me

    Make use, I implore you

Of that particular privilege given to you

To bring visible and speedy help

Where help is almost despaired of

Come to my assistance in this great need

That I may receive the consolation and help of heaven

In all my necessities, tribulations and suffering

    Particularly “Oscar Knox”

    And that I may praise

    God with you forever

I promise O blessed St Jude

To be ever mindful of this great favour

To always honour you as my special and powerful patron

And to gratefully encourage devotion to you
