Big Packy … I was just joking … I had suggested Celtic look at him when he was still at Ajax …. but,, even then, I think he was way too expensive for Celtic …. … I thought he was going to take the EPL by storm when he joined spurs, … done well, but not quite as well as I had thought he would in England …. although seems to be showing more now … mind you, that whole spurs team are looking good under Pocchetino … a great manager!

Denmark were the best team by a country mile. Poor defending all round by Ireland. If Christie had stayed on the post they wouldn’t have got the first goal. Bit of a game changer?

This game shows how ineffective coaches like O’Neil.Pullis and Allardyce’s style are against modern passing teams.
The big strong workmanlike teams get pulled all over the pitch and get tired out as there is to much ground to cover.
The higher pressing game is better at combating this than a reactionary defensive style.

TTT: I agree and I hope that the GAA will continue to thrive long into the future.
However, there is space for plenty of other sports (and other cultural activities) and Jack Charlton gifted a silver spoon to future generations on a plate. The FAI has not developed this opportunity. Rugby is in a far healthier state in Ireland at a local and international level than soccer is, imho.
I wish the FAI would encourage our emerging talent to develop their talents on the continent rather than in the hyper inflated EPL. Unless they go to Celtic, of course.

Gutted at minute at that performance. Denmark by far the better team. People knew all along about Eriksons quality but gave him all the time and space he needed to dominate.
Easy to say in retrospect but I feel we flattered to deceive and we were found out tonight. Anyway proud to have got this far. Congratulations to Denmark.

Watching RTE panel ripping MONDAY apart.
So far it’s his fault that Arter was on his own at the corner against two players. They have also been criticizing the substitutes, Eamon Dunphy described the mistakes as symptomatic of a lack of organization in the art of the manager. Of course having only previously conceded 4 goals at home is swiftly glossed over as it doesn’t suit Dunphy’s agenda. They then Slag him off for taking off two defensive players and putting on two ball players. They spent the previous three days encouraging him to take more risks and give it a go.
Dunphy then claims if Hoolahan had been in front of the defense it would have protected the back four, he played the whole second half and didn’t do it so how he was going to do it if on from the start only Dunphy knows.
The RTE panel and Dunphy in particular have had it in for every Ireland manager since Jack Charlton was appointed.
