Spotlight will inevitably find Moussa, wanted or not

356

You know when you get to a stage with a player when you think, “Moussa, how about you slow down with the international goals?” Celtic are ticking along well right now, and while I appreciate how important it is that when we sell players, we sell them at an elevated price, I’d be happy if Moussa didn’t attract too much attention right now.

His hat-trick for France under-21 last night was another milestone in his inextricable rise to the top. Coming hard on the heels of Olivier Ntcham stealing the show last week for the same international side, we can expect plenty of scouts at Celtic Park in the coming weeks.

Australia v Honduras tomorrow morning is the last World Cup qualification fixture involving Celtic players before headcount returns to full levels at Lennoxtown. This international break (for those who got the break) was invaluable to Celtic. We have two games per week from Ross County on Saturday until the winter break on 30 December.

That’s 13 games in 42 days, including a cup final, two Champions League fixtures, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and Newco; the squad will be stretched to its limit.

    Almore,

I reckon that it is the strength of the GAA throughout the country that gives them a distinct advantage in attracting the sporting youth to their code.

When you see the facilities that parish clubs have, then soccer can’t compete.

  2. And Bendtner scores from a penalty he earned to make me eat my words;))

The Danes have been excellent tonight especially Erikson and Delaney.

Big Packy … I was just joking … I had suggested Celtic look at him when he was still at Ajax …. but,, even then, I think he was way too expensive for Celtic …. … I thought he was going to take the EPL by storm when he joined spurs, … done well, but not quite as well as I had thought he would in England …. although seems to be showing more now … mind you, that whole spurs team are looking good under Pocchetino … a great manager!

  4. Advantage given, shot saved , another advantage getting a penalty? Only other time i seen similar was Brother MacLean helping his heroes against us last season, all to no avail

  5. Denmark were the best team by a country mile. Poor defending all round by Ireland. If Christie had stayed on the post they wouldn’t have got the first goal. Bit of a game changer?

On the bright side, possibly best not visiting Russia as a football fan from any country.

  6. Celtic were linked with Erikson when he was at Ajax but price to high probably.

Think we were also linked with Delaney as well..

This game shows how ineffective coaches like O’Neil.Pullis and Allardyce’s style are against modern passing teams.

The big strong workmanlike teams get pulled all over the pitch and get tired out as there is to much ground to cover.

The higher pressing game is better at combating this than a reactionary defensive style.

  7. GORDYBHOY 64-just think though after all the build up Bla Bla Bla,they get sent home on the first tank after the group stages,as always then we get to listen to the inquest:-)))

  8. TTT: I agree and I hope that the GAA will continue to thrive long into the future.

However, there is space for plenty of other sports (and other cultural activities) and Jack Charlton gifted a silver spoon to future generations on a plate. The FAI has not developed this opportunity. Rugby is in a far healthier state in Ireland at a local and international level than soccer is, imho.

I wish the FAI would encourage our emerging talent to develop their talents on the continent rather than in the hyper inflated EPL. Unless they go to Celtic, of course.

Saw your post earlier big guy. Hope you’re keeping well. Really enjoyed showing you around Belfast. Hope Derry is keeping fine.

Gutted at minute at that performance. Denmark by far the better team. People knew all along about Eriksons quality but gave him all the time and space he needed to dominate.

Easy to say in retrospect but I feel we flattered to deceive and we were found out tonight. Anyway proud to have got this far. Congratulations to Denmark.

Bada Bing, Knox by name, Knox by nature . He is a rabid hun with all that entails.

It’s no coincidence Man U started winning more once he shot up the road to Ibrox from Old Trafford. .

*that is until the Goodison flop joined them. They went from Champions to 3rd place a massive 15 points and 18 GD behind the previous year’s runners up Arsenal.

They also went out of the LC early doors tae West Brom and the CL tae the pretentious one’s porto side. Oh but they won the FA Cup.

Aye so they did against Division 1 Millwall who were missing 16 players from their squad due to suspension or injury.

  11. Fan A Tic,

    aye or a brick ;-))

    Fairhill Bhoy,

that is all we can look forward to ,

that and maybe a few of their “fans”wanting to take on the Ruskies

  12. re: england … will be a tough few months listening to them …. but think how much fun it will be when they get gubbed by Iceland again or whoever else …. and, for sure, they will …. they game they play is outdated, and flatters to deceive … a level down from the top teams, and they will be found out ….

  13. Ah well, no Eire in Russia.

No split loyalties for me now.

    Forza Polska!

Lewandowski to win it next door.

  14. Gearoid …

    how are you pal?!

I am only back from holiday, and enjoyed my last one so much, I am already dreaming about my next one!….

was thinking about taking my mum away for a break after xmas … although if it is in the middle of winter, we may go somewhere a bit warmer than Belfast this time!

derry is doing okay …just day by day ….

  15. Watching RTE panel ripping MONDAY apart.

So far it’s his fault that Arter was on his own at the corner against two players. They have also been criticizing the substitutes, Eamon Dunphy described the mistakes as symptomatic of a lack of organization in the art of the manager. Of course having only previously conceded 4 goals at home is swiftly glossed over as it doesn’t suit Dunphy’s agenda. They then Slag him off for taking off two defensive players and putting on two ball players. They spent the previous three days encouraging him to take more risks and give it a go.

Dunphy then claims if Hoolahan had been in front of the defense it would have protected the back four, he played the whole second half and didn’t do it so how he was going to do it if on from the start only Dunphy knows.

The RTE panel and Dunphy in particular have had it in for every Ireland manager since Jack Charlton was appointed.
