Does our second goal qualify as scoring from a corner?

I thought he was immense today, like Iniesta he keeps on going and probing till he makes that goal. Always moving always available, always in space.

Somebody like Weah feeds on that kind of link up play and what a finisher he is!

Toljan also made some great contributions pass wise, his cutback for Burke was intelligent football.

When we move the ball quickly we’re devastating to the opposition.

Calmed downed now but blood pressure through the roof the day watching that!

I think we can recall him though if he’s our player more likely though that OB would go out wide with Weah or Boom Boom Bayo through the middle ☘️

  4. Board bashers and haters general whingers back in their box Celtic continue with the quest for ten and new signings pivotal in making Celtic all time winners in 2019.

A worldwide diaspora stuck with CelticTV SKY or hesgoal for me, as the pledge to patch SKY continues, due to its deeply rooted bent relaunched for Seethen Gerrard in August and the trumpeting of ‘old firm’ when its not even relevant to the commentary, never mind 2019.

Tim Weah’s assist for the first goal in a perfectly weighted cross, then his strike from a similar assist from Callum McGregor didn’t just break St.Johnstone from holding out against ‘a vastly superior budget’ it burst ‘the anybody but Celtic brigade’s’ Dallas inspired knitting and Celtic won again through the inevitability of it all.

James Forrest loves the air in the gateway to the Highlands and regularly scores for fun, but his lunge to prod home the goal was because he’s fitter and faster than most, and that burst of pace has served Celtic so well for nine years. When a game gets stretched Forrest comes into his own running tiring defenders who can’t turn in time, give him an inch and he takes a yard.

Weah’s a credit on and off the pitch, (see Celtic TV) deeply in love with the Celtic and he’s helping

the club forge towards another consecutive title. It was Scott Brown captain Fantastic that strolled the man of the match award with another midfield masterclass, Burke led the line well and on another day could have scored three before he was withdrawn for unlucky French Eddy who looked to have broken a toe? as he tried to score. Simunovic looked fitter than before and Ajer just gets better with every SPL start, the introduction of the immaculate Jeremy Foljan thrilled the travelling support packed behind both ends of McDarmid Park and saw him a make a fine debut.

No deviation from the script for Willie Collum who like John Beaton is feared as much across Europe as they are in Coatbridge, the Celtic caravan rolls back to a packed Paradise in the battle of the Lennonless greens unless he’s in the mainstand?

    MOM Scott Brown.

  5. Terrific result today in the end.

    Some observations.

Weah… not wanting to state the obvious. The bhoy comes on and he steals the limelight. Absolutely he does.

That said, my man of the match, was a certain Jozo Simounovic. He defended well. His passing was good. He stepped forward and broke the lines a good number of times. Well played son.

The new right back Toljan looked decent. Certainly offered a lot more than Lustig in an offensive sense.

Brown and McGregor were good, but Christie’s game was a bit wayward. As were his set plays.

I didn’t feel we posed enough threat down the flanks until Toljan came on.

Sinclair and Izzy huffed n puffed down the left, without causing too much damage.

A welcome 3 pts. And hopefully Boyata can slot in beside Jozo in coming games.

Opportunity for Burke to play wide right, while Forrest recovers.

Hoping Edouard is just bruising, a bang. And nothing sinister. No breaks or fracture.

  6. Great result for the troops……………….tough task , overcome. well played Bhoys.

In ither news……….4 pennos………..and Neil gone.

  8. On ither, ither news………..loved Awwy ” I Love Ally” Wammont’s/,,,,,,,,give us summit on penno’s to start a kerfuffffffle with the Brown Brogue Be-Blazerd Bigots………………..

    oh aye……………….

  9. Nothing will be said about how we are refereed differently, just imagine if the huns were on the receiving end of what we have to put up with every game.

There was three stonewall pens denied to us today, evens things out for the three they got that were not pens, so what folks are bleating about is beyond me.

Kris did NOT deny the player a goal scoring opportunity, that is the rule, nothing to do with last man, there was at least two other defenders in the vicinity, so a yellow was the call..

The saying about bringing it on yourselves has never been truer, if you contribute to the sham you have no right imo to complain when they cheat you, starve them of the money they won’t cheat you, it really isny rocket science.

  11. Fool Time Whistle on

A more aggressive St Johnstone this time meant we could be certain that our players would get injured & that we’d have penalty incidents to discuss afterwards.

Scott Bain’s save from Kennedy early on was of Boruc quality. His composure when he gets the ball to his feet is excellent. Good game.

Lustig was good for his half. He’d have been glad to have a reliable deputy when his limbs ached at HT.

Toljan was excellent in his first appearance in the hoops. Hope he gets Celtic soon & extends his loan or makes the move. Strange to say that about a guy I’d never heard of until Tuesday & who’s only played 45 mins.

Ajer was immense & could easily have been subbed after being knocked out in 2nd minute. There really should be a proper concusion protocol, but then again, this is Scotland. The world’s most arrogant footballing backwater. His red card was inevitable after his touch let his opponent in. Leaving the pitch he remostrated with himself the whole way off. He knew what he’d done, but I agree with another poster who said he’ll be a future captain if we can hold onto him.

Jozo was steady & even had a pass & go with Calmac in their box to get a shot off. Should help his confidence & ours in him.

Izzy was more in evidence in the last rather than the first third. I think he megged Foster twice & was a more effective winger that Scott Sinclair. Decent game.

James Forrest had what can best be described as a “James Forrest” cameo. Struggled to be productive for two thirds of the game but score a fine goal later on. Unlike his play from the distant past, this Jamesie wants to get involved & is much more mobile. Good game.

Scott Brown was immense & imperious. His only blemish was the slack pass to Ajer that led to the red card.

Callum McGregor was quiet in the first half but often it’s his little interventions or quick touches, tackles & passes that are missed. 2nd half he was great.

Ryan Christie worked his socks off the whole game. He closed down, harried, passed & tackled AND he took every corner & most free kicks. His corners were 50/50 too often though. Good game.

Scott Sinclair was what James Forrest used to be in the hoops. He gets the ball in great positions & I sit forward thinking, here we go son – and then he runs into a dead end. His goals scoring is fantastic but his contribution to others from the wing could do with a bump. He works tirelessly though & he was clear in 1st half when Olli chose to go for goal. Decent game.

Ollie Burke covered so much ground & dragged his markers all over the place. He’s a strong but intelligent player who links well, closes down & scores. He deserved a goal today. Good game.

Odsonne should have had that goal when he was fouled. I agree with all others, a studs up challenge connecting with an opponents ankle is a card anywhere else on the field, but this Scotland & we are Celtic. Really hopeful that it’s bruising only.

Timothy Weah was wonderful. A tiring defence couldn;t cope with his pace, touch & passing. He’s 18 and has great skill in either foot & we are lucky to have him. Perhaps subbing is where his real impact lies as on each such pccasion he has looked unbeatable. When you spend 75 minutes getting biffed & clattered by bigger opponents your skill is often neutralized. Used correctly he could be our X factor in February, especially since we don’t have Tom Rogic.

A special mention to the officials. You were poor – and I’m been generous.

Frankly, the complete lack of transparent accountability for the decisions these amateurs take during games is an SFA dictatorship. The SFA expect & even demand that managers & players act with good grace towards officials while at the same time ignoring the biggest, fattest elephant in the smallest room. In Scotland, officials are just not very good, no matter how much we hear about “honest mistakes” or ” it evens itself out over the season”. In any other line of work, a genuine & honest appraisal by suprvisors would lead to dismissal for some & re-training & close supervision for the others.

From game to game, standards change & even within games consistency is lacking. Further, when Newco’s manager had hardly warmed his office chair, he was laying in to the media about bias (thinly veiled) against his players. Fined for some of it, it appears to the bystander that the fine also bought them some slack from officials during games, especially at their place.

Comparing yesterday’s farcical officiating with today’s is a microcosm of the awful standard of refereeing in Scotland. We need fulltime, professional officials with an independent assessor, not someone who was/is still one of the boys OR some scapegoat sacrificial appointment that pretends to lend independence. If Clare Whyte has insufficient support or muddled reporting lines or job brief – she is a token appointment who is already being dismissed by the old guard as out of her depth.

Great result & great individual performances all over the park today.

All we can do is beat what’s put in front of us, including biased, scared and incompetent officials.

Superbowl Sunday here, but I’ve had my result of the day already.

    Take care all

  13. Well done to the lads we always knew this was going to be a grinder complete with hometown ref decisions to compete against – is it not always a foul to dig your studs into your opponent not to mention the Burke incident.

First time to see young Weah in action but is looking good and the new German lad Toligen looked very sharp despite him being barely off the plane. Brillian opportunist goal by Jamsey and Scott’s Rolls engine purring as well as ever.

  14. glendalystonsils on

Great result today. I’m already looking forward to Wednesday when we host Hibs and sheep host Sevvies……potential to widen the gap . If it happens you won’t hear much from the Sevco cheerleaders in the media . They can’t quite get the concept of a gap that can widen as well as close . Or for that matter, the idea that Celtic can apply pressure to their rivals rather than the other way round.

  15. Anyone a clip of Scott Brown flicking the ball over the oncoming St. Johnston player’s head running onto it and playing in Weah (i think)

The King of Scottish football is back

    B-)

  16. Huge win.

1st half had that deja vu feel.

    Coo field.

    Agricultural enthusiasm.

    Scottish ref.

Must admit that Izzy may have fouled as much as Goss in the 1st half but as long as players like him don’t get booked, they get to continue with it.

Spoiling and fouling all game long and as soon as he got booked, he was subbed, same as Swanson, 2 minutes later…..hooked…….no use after that so Wright gets someone else on to do the same……and so it goes on.

Fingers crossed Eddy is just bruised after that.

Don’t blame the defender for trying to make it as its instinctive, but its a foul all day long for a high studs up challenge.

Defender goes right through Christie from behind prior to it as well, 2 penalty decisions in 1 move, but both let go.

We got the points despite it so get it right up you, ya wee cheating #####

Toljan looked the part……not many get so close to game time so soon after a joining us!

Difficult game to make your debut, but he did well at both ends of the pitch….and in between!

Weah must have thought he wasn’t going to be involved when Eddy got the nod, but WOWWWWW!!!!!!

    What a devastating wee cameo!!!!!

“You’ll never get a penalty for that.”

Scottish commentators join Scottish referees as deluded old school apologists.

  22. Watched on SKY unfortunately…..but …. the picture of today for me, was

the tory MP Ross linesman ( he of the red, red, red! bullshit) looking heartily sick and disappointed

after the second goal went in. 3 points to the Bhoys, despite his “best” efforts to deny us!

Really important and gutsy 3 points today against a well-organised defence. Toljan looks a player and it seems that he will get a chance to further impress soon with Lustig going off injured.

Hopefully the Sheep will do Sevco this wednesday and we can stretch our lead at the top.

With all the players we should have returning in the next few weeks we ought to be able to field a second 11 that would win this league. (Ntcham, Forrest, Edouard, Griff, Boyata, KT, Rogic, Ralston, Lustig as well as Eboue and Arzani not to mention Kristoffer Ajer)

Only one team going to win this title and they play in Glasgow’s Green and White!! Hail hail!!
