  1. The only positive thing that you could say about Taylor, is he was always available for a pass…..clearly not good enough

  2. Just thinking again about that challenge on Klimala and the way he carried on and scored that tremendous goal.

Tubby Morelos would have done a triple salko with twist and rolled about for 10 yards while bawling his eyes out and Slippy would have demanded a summary execution.

  3. The huddle

Port vale had 65 % possession and lost 1-0

It’s goals not possession that win games

  5. Odsonne Edouard is without doubt a class act, but he is living on his reputation now. He has been generally poor this season.

I think he is missing his magic song. I wanna be Edouard.

    Football without fans is nothing.

  6. Perhaps Odsonne is just a young man struggling with his form. Living in a foreign country, missing his friends and family due to lockdown restrictions. He’s always struck me as a quiet sensitive soul.

  7. French Eddie has delivered little since being on the end of some brutal tackling v Dundee Utd. Do we think there is any coincidence?

Did he not shoot someone with an air rifle ;O)

  9. My unemotional response to today`s game.

We were not very good but we were still much better than the opposition.

European travel invariably has a negative impact on performance. Fine margins are involved in the game at a professional level and arriving in Glagow at 4pm on Friday then playing in Perth at noon on Sunday is hardly ideal

We won because we have better players who never stopped trying.

We need to create a positive zeitgeist between now and our game against our main rivals on the 17th.Positive posting here and elsewhere might help in doing that.

    Cheerio for now. Rebus beckons.

I believe you are right. It is rumoured that he is missing his mother in particular. ( And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that )

I remember Tiny Wharton and Davison (sp) in the fifties, they were terrible to Celtic, in fact Wharton shouldn’t haven’t been a referee,he must have been over 20 stone, and wasn’t good at running up and down the park,in fact most of his decisions were made from the Centre Circle.

    __________________

Wharton was the only referee ever who officiated wearing a double-breasted jacket. This was to disguise either (a) his masonic apparatus or (b) his excessive girth.

  12. Could anyone imagine Eddie in his current form scoring the kind of goal Klimala did today?

Such brilliant determination to do well.

Odsonne Edouard is without doubt a class act, but he is living on his reputation now. He has been generally poor this season.

10 appearances. 6 goals, 1 assist. Winner in midweek, goals for an excellent France U21 team. Carrying an injury in some of those games.

A big part of his alleged drop in his standards is the utter lack of creativity | partner around him.

We clicked when we played 2 up front and a No. 10 behind them to day. Something Eddie didn’t have the pleasure to experience.

Give the bhoy a break. Two up front and creativity behind him and ion thw wings would help.

  14. I have posted many times about us all wanting players who put our Jersey on to do well, if someone can tell me how Taylor stayed on the pitch until about 80 minutes today, I would like to hear it,he always gets the ball on acres of space, go figure……opposition teams know he is no threat ,Jonny Hayes anyone….

Such brilliant determination to do well.

Replace him with Klimala then. I’m sure that will solve all our problems. By inference he’s of course hiding/ a coward/packed it tin or whatever other crap phrase we roll out when we don;t see blood and snotters from more sophisticated footballers sick of being battered by some clugger with impunity.

  16. Hot Smoked,

What the wind bags (myself included) talk about between now and the Hun game has zero impact on the performance on the day. Absolutely zilch.

    HH

  17. BIG WAVY

I’m not asking for “blood or snotters” but nobody who’s been paying attention can tell me that Eddie isn’t off it for whatever reason.

Disinterested? Unfit? Carrying an injury? Slightly off focus?

I don’t know and not going to assume or make accusations but something clearly isn’t right. I just hope that the closure of the window can restore some focus and see him and Griff hit it off again.

  18. Geebee1978

I’ve given you what I see as contributory reasons.

    He’s isolated.

He’s marked by several players as he’s a danger man.

He operates in a left side of the pitch where Greg Taylor operates. I’ll say no more.

His partnership with Moi doesn;t work. His partnership with Ajeti hasn;t taklen off. His partnership with Klimala ism’t one. His partnership with Christie is a long distance relationship.

On the right side is a kid with talent but a poor final ball.

No Rogic in the No. 10. No Griffiths to play alongside.

    Need I go on?

    HH

  19. Big Wavy,

Odsonne got taken off today because he was not performing. Nothing tactical.

He is not playing to the best of his ability in the Celtic games that i have sern. That is undeniable.

However he is a class act and everyone is extremely supportive of him. I would be deeply upset if he left at this time as would the vast majority of Celtic supporters.

    HH.

  20. Greenpinata

We finished the game with 2 forwards and a No. 10. That was clearly tactical. It made a big difference.

Why don’t we start the game the same way maybe? Who knows, maybe we wouldn’t all be scratching around for the answer in the 90th minute.

    HH

  21. No Bobby Does It Petta on

Interesting Ryan Christie’s reaction to Griff’s late winner. I would urge you all to watch it.

  22. BIG WAVY

He’s been described as world class and linked with £40m moves yet he can’t build a relationship with four of our first team players? Struggles when tightly marked? Struggles because Rogic isn’t there (who’s hardly ever there)? Sorry but these hold no water for me.

I agree that he needs a second striker and that’s why I hope Griff gets fit soon but the problems you’ve described don’t differ too much to the previous couple of years when despite all that, he was unplayable.

  23. If it was tactical, why wasn’t a striker brought on to partner Eddie instead of Eddie. Lennon said himself that Eddie hasn’t been on it.

My hope is class is permanent…

  24. glendalystonsils on

I agree that the least Eddy deserves is our patience . I am as dismayed by his form as anyone but let’s hope he’s here after the international break . By that time transfer speculation will be history and any knocks he may be carrying hopefully cleared up.

10iar is a big prize and needs big players.

  25. GuyFawkesaforeverhero on

    Well played Celtic.

Lenny called it after the game. A win for the squad.

Eddy, Oli and Moi had 80mins. Nothing.

Griff, Klimala and Christie had 10mins. Won it.

Scott Brown is a hard act to follow.

  26. Lennon sees him day in day out – not just Eddie the player but Eddie the person.

Lennon says his performances have been affected by the uncertainty. I will take his word for it and hope that in 48 hours we’ll have out old Eddie back.

  27. Geebee1978,

WTAF…it’s his fault he has no settled partnership? It’s his fault when Christie or Moi play in different parts of the pitch to him too often? It’s his fault when GT can’t beat the right back and get the ball in? It’s his fault when he’s the one with 3 men around him? It’s his fault if he’s playing and carrying an injury from a SPFL thug? It’s his fault Tam Rogic isn;t playing behind him?

I can only assume from your reply that all this is Eddie’s fault. He’s a workshy fecker who has downed tools?

That’s the crap cogintive dissonance of our support. Drop the lazy, gallic, workshy fecker and play the two local heroes from today – Paddy & Leigh.

    HH

  28. BIG WAVY

“it’s his fault he has no settled partnership?” – He spent most of his Celtic career playing alone so that makes no sense.

“It’s his fault Tam Rogic isn;t playing behind him?” – A £40m player can only play with Rogic behind him? What if Rogic leaves? What if Eddie goes to a club that doesn’t have Rogic? Again makes no sense.

“I can only assume from your reply that all this is Eddie’s fault. He’s a workshy fecker who has downed tools?” – I’m saying exactly what Neil Lennon, who sees him every day has said. Maybe that’s the “crap cogintive dissonance ” of our manager too then?

  29. I don’t want anyone to leave in the window because it will be difficult to replace players who are as good as Ajer, Ntcham, Edouard, Christie, Rogic or Jullien.

We can all see the faults in these players but other clubs can see their virtues too.

Milan see Ajer as a modern CB who can play football and has height and control.

French and Portuguese clubs can see that Ntcham has ball control an eye for a pass and can link midfield and attack.

All clubs can see Edouard as a very good dribbler in a crowded penalty box and a regular goal scorer no matter the level of football.

Chinese and Arab clubs might see Tom Rogic as a ball player and they can provide willing workers to surround him but, until Tom is back playing and in the shop window again, he is not going to attract the type of club he wants.

Lower table Premiership clubs can see Christie as a hard working player with flair. They cannot get enough of that type of player.

And Jullien can see Celtic as a convenient stepping stone to a bigger wage but, until some other club is willing to pay north of £10m, it does not matter how he rates himself, other clubs need to express an interest in him if he is to get his move.

All these clubs interested in our players know what their faults are but , unlike many in our fan base they can evaluate their faults in the round with their virtues.

There are not many clubs looking to steal Elhamed or Taylor or Bitton from us. That is the dilemma of managing in Scottish football. Teams can steal your best plyers and you have to scrabble around and gamble with their replacements, whether that is an EPL reserve (Frimpong came good but Arzani & Musonda bombed) or a promising Scot (Armstrong did well but Mackay Steven & lewis Morgan did not and Turnbull has yet to show what side he will fall into).

There will be enough leaving at the end of the 10iar campaign, whether we win or lose it. There is no need to disrupt it now unless the player concerned is just going to cause trouble in the camp.

I believe a lot of our “relationship troubles” with players will disappear, at least until the next transfer window, once there is no prospect of a big money move.

I don’t want anymore than one player leaving and I still want a good LB and another Central defender would not go amiss either.

Otherwise, we are talented enough to win this league once we find some form.

  30. BIG WAVY

Lennon said: “I think he has about three or four more gears to come. That’s a question you need to ask him.

“Again, I was disappointed with his performance. He needs to settle down. Hopefully after tomorrow he will.

“I can’t speculate but I think it’s apparent it’s been affecting him but I can’t think for him or put words in to his mouth.

“He’s a brilliant player but we are just not seeing the best of him at the moment.”

No hard feelings but I’ll take Lennon’s word over your on this one.
