I agree about “ not having the dog” and also you are right Wolves were promoted playing some nice stuff, but at a helluva cost. TBH. I started my ironing and may watch the last half hour of Everton game as it looks like it’s poised for a good finish.

Think about 10 when we have 9, anything else is unnecessary pressure

*That just about sums it up, this blog has been very painful since Friday night when we were looking at scoring 5 and going top. Beautiful Sunday seems so far away now.

IMHO the Invincibles has left us gun shy, we are terrified at the thought of dropping points, even MON and Jock’s teams did including the mighty Lions.

In Jock’s first season in charge, after the euphoria of 5-0 at Roker Park against a side led by former deidco and national captain an manager who walked out of his country during a WC campaign, hmmm seem to have developed a habit there, and a wearside team that included the over rated left half as well as a player who would go on to become one of the most sung about Celts.

We were really looking forward to the season kicking off, we actually lost 2 of our first 3 LC games to both Dundee sides, the Arabs victory was courtesy of goals from ex-Celt Bobby Carroll a huge favourite of mine and credited with scoring our first ever European goal just 3 seasons before and Duntocher Tim Denis Gillespie who went tae school with an uncle of mine, and the game we did win was due tae a late Johnny Divers goal in a scrappy affair.

We did bounce back though qualifying for the knock out rounds of the LC and winning our first 2 League games before heading to hades. We lost 1-2 and although we had big Billy hirpling out on the wing in the 2nd half deidco were already 2-1 up. I don’t recall any contentious decisions that day although the Lanny and Merrydown may have affected my judgement but for some reason Jock left out Joe McGoals who was starting to score regularly and had a hat trick at Starks Park in a LC quarter final 3 days before. He did admit after the game to this selection error.

We went on a run of games winning them all except for a fortunate last minute Buzz Bomb equaliser in the LC semi, we won the replay comfortably 4-0, until early November we tied 1-1 with the Maryhill Magyars at Parkheid, this was the only home game we didnae win all season, incidentally another former Celt Jim Conway, a player our scouts recommended ahead of both Joe and Gerry Baker scored their equaliser.

After that game and being a bit down my da reminded me that “you cannae win then all son”.

  3. Dublin five point winners in the end & completing two in a row.

50,000 in attendance at a ladies amateur sporting event is some feat.

  21. I’ve been on this blog from the birth and have enjoyed it in the main, as it has given many a voice and opinion over the tears. The not lazy journalism initial way of doing was great, but sadly, in my opinion, this is no longer the case.

In my view, we have seen the emergence of the great and the good of the blog, and some of the opinions have been excellent in the extreme, brilliant, BUT, with the emergence of the great and the good, come the sycophants who hang on to those of “better ” views. This, again, in my opinion, has resulted in bullying by the sycophants who jump on board and are so quick to denounce the opinions of other not in the clique.

A case in point, and there have been many, is the treatment meated out to the likes of Neganon, who has an opinion, like us all. Rather than jump on the popular anti Neg, why not instead think for ourselves and listen to what he writes, you may fing yourself agrreing with a lot of what he writes.

I have always detested bullying in whatever shape it come s so instead of being of the sheep mentality, think for your selves for a change. It’s easy to go under the radar and agree with the consensus, but think for yourselves. I do!!

So until the bullying desists, I will no longer be contributing, no loss I hear you cry, wellthat’s fine, but have a good hard look at yourselves and give some thought to those who sugggest a more unpopular suggestion and you know what, they just might be right.

There’s a huge gulf between ‘bullying’ and disagreeing/contending with demented incessant repetitive erroneous foundationless pish.

    But enjoy the flounce.
