Stokes for the McCluskey role

846

Anthony Stokes is in the best form of his Celtic career at the moment, arguably the best form of his life if you overlook his stunning cameo at Falkirk.  It’s hard to know if this is related to no longer being in the shadow of a more favoured son, or if Anthony has just got his ‘stuff’ together, but his intervention was absolutely crucial in our only Champions League win so far.  He had all the wisdom necessary to bate an opponent into a clumsy foul.

The psychology of a three year contract, worth more money, before performance bonuses, than the player will be able to spend is not always a good thing for a footballer, but the competition for a starting berth up front for Celtic is acute.  On the back of his winning goal on Sunday Amido Balde has been talking about his ambitions to secure a regular place, Teemu Pukki is guaranteed nothing while Georgios Samaras has been used regularly as a striker.  Anthony will remain under pressure to perform.

All of this competition will come into sharp focus in Amsterdam next week.  Celtic will come under pressure for most of the game, but this is something they are comfortable with.  We will need someone to exploit the openings Ajax will leave in their defence.  Put your money on Anthony for the George McCluskey role.

    john o..,

My point is/was, your question is irrelevant and IMO a diversionary tactic, it matters not a jot what people think the boards motives might be, what matters is that we were cheated and we want justice and we expect those responsible to protect our interests to do just that.

Dividends have come up short since that SFA decision was made, now I dont really give a monkeys about dividends paid out in cash, what I do give a monkeys about is, there are many many shareholders who lost the chance to increase their shareholding through the dividend conversion scheme, were, rather than cash, they get more shares, thats all money going straight back into the club.

Meanwhile tonight’s word on SSB – apoplectic!

  5. Canomalar, no diversionary tactic intended. If you accuse individuals of certain things, it is important to have evidence and motive. So far, the motives proposed by some are lacking in logic.

    Uncle Tom,

Glad to hear your glad news long may you antagonise.

So I tale it you’ll be coming over for any game played at ayebrokes

Or are you just spoiling again, I mean to say, calling people who live in Scotland fearties when you ran away a long time ago is a bit rich, no ?

  7. Tom,

That is not fair. Rangers are irrelevant to me. However if there is proof that the SFA are helping them – or any other club – cheat then it is reasonable not to support the SFA with financial revenue. Congratulations on your news.

I feel the media etc silence on the Sports Direct sevco involvement is very significant ….. something really strange going on there…..does anyone know anything about this aspect ?

Re cup games ( semis and final ), Mordor will look great if Ross Co v ICT reach the semi. 10,000 at a push. Would be embarrassing for the SFA, Pittodrie would be the obvious choice.

Murrayfield? Apart fom giving money to SRU which the SFA won’t do, I heard that Edinburgh Council only grant a limited number of licences for major events, which rugby matches and concerts take up. Can anyone confirm this?

Even when I think I’ve put up an interesting post with a brilliant obscure Celtic question I get no reply.

Right, I think Rob Maclean is a better broadcaster than Ed Murrow ever was!

Derek Llambias of Newcastle united to sevco, twitter is saying

    As CEO

Further delving suggests it came from Alan Brazil on Talksport so nothing at all confirmed

Is that the same Derek Llambias who’s PR Company has been on a ‘retainer’ at Ibrox for several months already?

It’s not a case of hating secvo more than the love for Celtic… It’s the deceit and collusion that has went on.

The latest one being… Two semi finals to bale them out.

I’ve been at loggerheads with this one and find myself at the moment with the no camp.

Ed Murrow was a great US radio broadcaster whose broadcasts from London during the Blitz did much to increase support for the Allies in the States before America joined. Obviously not as good as Rob MacLean I am sure you ‘ll agree.

A Supporter for 60 years, but ah “Proddy” Celtic Supporter, well,ah wiz “christened”in a C.O.S.(Kent Street,Calton.) but entering Non-denominational education and endowed with a modicum of intelligence I found Atheism a preferred option to religion, and so my non-conformist life force has progressed un-abated ever since.

So like thousands? of “Proddy ” Tims do we better represent the Celtic ethos?

Pat Nevin in THAT Cup statement accused Celtic Supporters of Sectarianism and Bigotry, and I would have to ask him the question,”Can we “Proddy”/and/or/Atheist Celtic Supporters be exempted from that accusation”?

    only asking like :o)
