Strikers and the comfort zone

538

There’s something healthy when the arrival of a new striker, who has yet to trouble the net, has raised the game of an incumbent.  If you talk to footballers they’ll tell you they need to be challenged.  Even most greats hit a comfort zone, where they know they are cherished by manager and fans alike, so that knot in the stomach about where the next contract is coming from never materialises.

Gary Hooper missed this at Celtic.  He was the apple of Neil Lennon’s eye, and clearly top striker at Celtic, but a few seasons in his appetite for the same old challenge seemed to wane.  I’m assured by those who shared a dressing room with Henrik Larsson, this was one area which set the Swede aside.  The accolades meant nothing to him, he wanted every trophy, every record, which perhaps indicates why he captured the Champions League in his mid-30s.

Clunks. The people who for want of a better word lead all religions are like you and I only human and therefore sinners. However, the Bible preaches the Good News as Jesus taught it also if you wish to influence change in any organisation in a free society it is best done from the inside.

World poverty can’t be solved by anybody. It will always be with us.

  5. bgx,

It was a simple repetition of the same question asked in the first line of my post to you,

You try and hit jfh with a loaded question, one you obviously fear to address yourself so much so you avoid answering it when asked.

What do you think happens to Muslims ?

I’m pretty sure you know the biblical answer to that but you are trying to trap a Christian into saying it because you are afraid to say it.

So, again, from your knowledge of the bible, and your question to jfh

    What happens to Muslims ?

    ==========================

The people that lead religions world wide are only human and like you and I know right from wrong. Infact the amount of studies these people have to put in to get to the top echelons of religions means that they are very much aware of the power they wield.

To say I am human and a sinner is an excuse. They write and lead the teachings of the day.

The bible has been written and edited more times than than the newspapers we pour scorn on.

We do not live in a free society.

    Ask yourself the question again……

Could the catholic church end world poverty and still maintain a vast trove of wealth??

  12. Canamaler..I Honestly Dont Have a Clue what happens to muslims who dont believe Jesus is their Saviour…U tell me…

BGX. That is a difficult question as many things can change in the future and on our death bed any person can repent and receive forgiveness. However, we were given freedom of choice and we all make the choice we feel are right for us my honest belief if you choose not to believe the Christian message says you will not be saved once again what that means is open to your interpretation.

  14. Noticed some chat about Virgil over the weekend. For me he is a real Rolls-Royce of a defender and his value will increase with age. It has been a pleasure to see him play and develop with us and I’m sure a fee of £10m plus will be paid when he sadly goes.

As Lennybhoy has indicated it looks like Southampton or a similar status team will land him. No harm to them but just like Forster and Wanyama they seem to have to take another step before one of the extremely bloated clubs decide to buy. All three of these guys would improve the Arsenal team say…it just can’t be sexy shopping in Scotland!

Can’t see us getting ten million for VD. Mediocre in Europe. Bitton – if he continues to develop – could make us that amount though.

clunks. If anyone could end poverty we have to ask how long this would last before the greedy side of mankind exploited the poor once again ? However, I believe the teachings of Jesus lead us to true love for our fellow man and encourage us to act in manner for the benefit of all.

  20. Clunks,

While I sympathise with your argument I have to disagree, you only need to look at Africa and see how the distribution of charitable relief is diverted into capitalists bank accounts, capitalists will allow their greed to justify why they deserve more and that it’s pointless anyone trying to provide help as it is inevitable it will happen again, so it’s prudent to steal from the hungry to ensure your not in the next mix. It’s the exact same reason they use to try and destroy the idea that there can be a fairer system. To them it is and always will be a dog eat dog would and they will make sure that’s the way it stays.

We need a Protestant striker with Muslim sympathies who loves the Pope and has socialist tendencies while having a laissez-faire attitude to business.
